NS Cliches II: Re-Rebooted

then i started putting a little effort into my posts because some people on f7 hurt my feewings

What's also important to remember is this is pretty much how NS RP has always been.

It's so easy to talk about the supposed 'golden age' of NS RP, but I guarantee for every user who joined in 2018 who thinks that 2018-2019 was the golden age of NS RP and it's call gone downhill since then, there's going to be another user who joined a few years before that in 2015 who thinks that 2018 is when NS RP started to decline.

The actual truth, of course, is that you're only going to remember the high-quality RPs and RPers as time goes on. You're not going to remember the tons of generically bad but not offensively so RPs that might last a week or two before everyone loses interest or the poor RPers themselves. Excepting for ones who become known for their poor quality RPs, but that falls outside the realm of 'generically bad but not offensively so'. It's like movies, there's a difference between a movie that's bad and boring and a movie that's so bad it's good, y'know?

NS has always been bad sure, but I feel like in years past it was easier to find decent quality RP that wasn't locked behind closed groups, and RP that focused on things other than war.

Gonna keep it real with you chief, I kinda understand both sides in this "argument." Yeah, it's annoying to get no effort and I understand wanting people to write more than "Idk lol" but it's also a bit silly to get as up-in-arms as some folks do about it. I feel like there's a fine line betwixt actually wanting effort from people and just being obnoxious.

Biggest cliché of all in NS: have all of your lore be entirely in your head and never bother writing it down, and then be surprised when people don't magically know how your incredibly detailed judiciary and legislative branches work.

That if you are hard on crime and criminals, you’re not a real leftist. Historically, many leftists have been tough on crime as well. We’re not all Scandinavia. Though I agree with most things about Scandinavian style social democracy, I don’t share their hand wringing over draconian penalties for crime, especially violent crime.

oh undoubtedly NS has always been bad but this generation is clearly worse than mine! Back in my day we used to have fun and interesting drama, now it’s just the same shit over and over!

I think the first part is more important than summerposting. NS RP has grown way more insular than it was years ago. Open RPs and cross-region interactions were noticeably more common. I blame Discord personally.

Summie "i send 10,000 nooks" RPs just pop out at you more now because they are all you get while everyone else is getting their roleplaying fill by bouncing random worldbuilding ideas around in private chats.

Kidding aside I have participated in Good rps in FB&I, NS, II, P2tmv in the last six months. With most of them being slow burns to allow for quality (one II was faster/silly/fun)
