While possession of Karelia is a strategic benefit, maintaining direct control over it would be a political nightmare that few in Venedia’s government would be willing to stomach. It would be much easier to possess an independent ally in the form of a Kingdom of (the) Karelians. The new state would be a monarchic one headed by a local Karelian of outstanding character and capabilities; the candidate for kingship would be urged to marry a Venedian princess or some other royal to give them access to royal legitimacy and connections to support their reign.

The Venedian name would translate to Republic of (the) Uminakuese in English, with an appropriate translation in the indigenous language. The territory would exist as a nominally independent state resident to a Venedian garrison force established to monitor the Far East and northern East Asia, as well as to protect local interests and independence from Venedia’s barbaric Russian rival.

It wouldn’t be renamed under Venedian administration and occupation, rather it would be immediately dissolved and dismantled into hundreds of new states and liberated nations. However, reference to it during and after dismantlement would call it the ‘Great Evil’ and the ‘manifestation of the nationless’, with usage of its formerly official name limited.
