Alas, you forget that neoliberalism isn't destroying Ukraine. The country itself is rotten to the core, and has been since 2014. It's turn itself into yet another country that must rely on foreign intervention to exist; and for that it is weak. If it wins this war, it won't be because their soldiers were 'brave', it was because the west funded their armies.

None of them are heroes. Not a single one of them. They are but boys sent to the grinder because their lapdog of a leader demands it. And, give it fifty years, these 'heroes' will be lost to history. As will, unfortunately, those in the Donbass they mercilessly slaughtered. THEY committed their own genocide, so why not call that out? Why ignore THEIR crimes?

But the Hague would rather feed into the Cold War-era paranoia that's dominated geopolitics since the Soviet Union kicked the bucket. If Russia loses, the Hague'll call the innocent war criminals, and the war criminals heroes, for were they to truly care about preserving human rights, just about every American general would be rotting away in prison.

It is almost never accurate to take the mentality of "which side are you on, there is only right and wrong" with politics, with rare exceptions such as WWII or standing against the Khmer Rouge.

I wouldn't say so, I don't think any natural landscapes are inherently better than one another. Hell, even deserts have a bunch of life operating underneath their surfaces, abundant in their own ineffable ways. However, if we're talking natural landscapes that I personally prefer, I think I prefer forests and lake shores to beaches.

The War in Ukraine is one of the best things that's happened to NATO in a long time. With some of the Nordics throwing out their old neutrality and Western military-industrial complexes getting a dusting-off, Russia really threw the ball to their court here, for better or worse (definitely worse).
