Velbor, Arabic: الرِّبَاط, is the largest city of Portzania with an urban population of approximately 600,000 (2022) and a metropolitan population of over 1.2 million. Rabat is located on the [[Andaluzian Sea]] at the mouth of the [[Yonim River]], opposite near the sister village of Salome. Velbor was founded in the 800 century by the [[Velo Caliphate]]. The city steadily grew but went into an extended period of decline following the collapse of the Velos. In the 12th century Velbor became a haven for gunsmiths, with the city having an abundance of gunpowder and trading posts. The Zuidwesterners established a protectorate over Portzania in [N/A] and made Velbor its administrative center. Portzania achieved independence in [N/A] But Velbor did not become its capital, despite it being the largest and most wealthy of them all.

Velbor and Salome form a conurbation of over 1.8 million people. Silt-related problems have diminished Velbor's role as a port; however, Velbor, and Salome still maintain important textile, sugar cane and coffee industries. In addition, tourism and the presence of all foreign embassies in Portzania serve to make Velbor one of the most important cities in the country.
