Most of the Lunar toponyms are directly derived from the names given to them by modern astronomers. The others are derived from scientists, artists, philosophers, engineers, navigators, pilgrims, religious figures, and other sources which are important in the history of our exploration and understanding of the moon in particular and of the universe in general.

The names can also be found with more visual context on the two large maps of the moon in the geography section. Thanks for the reply!
