I mean I was actually just talking about this in TWI - Hintuwan is just based on stuff I find cool about Southeast Asian culture because everything's so syncretic. Multiple precolonial thalassocratic pseudo-republics have existed in the region in the past such as Madyas, Srivijaya, and even Majapahit to a certain extent. The Kesampuhan is just my adaptation of the concept, I actually totally made the term up btw.
