Hunting at this point is mostly a religious practice associated with The Wild Hunt and the various Cults of the Grand Huntress. Different creatures have generally been more of a hunting type than others. Animal husbandry reduced the need for hunting as a means for food and resources, and hunting animals like dogs or cats have done pest control for us. Ponies aren't exactly a hunting type, though we're omnivorous nowadays. Griffons do it to some degree and sell whatever they can from their prizes. Humans do it a little more often but most humans have been reliant on their relationship with Ponies, especially since Ponies created agriculture and allowing humans to evolve from foragers, nomadic societies aren't common in the Empire anyway. Hunting therefore isn't a large economic driver, and if it were it would be considered agriculture, since the overlap is vast and killing animals is done for pest control to keep crops and even some livestock safe. Game hunting has been used to control overpopulation though some forms of it are banned in the name of conservation.
