In my timeline Zheng He's voyages sail east on the Northern Pacifc Current until reaching OTL Washington before riding the California Current until reaching Mesoamerica before sailing back across the Pacific on the North Equatorial Current, taking a minor detour to OTL Hawaii(Tiāntáng dao/Paradise Island) to resupply.

I kinda jumped into the factbook without reading the title first and I was so taken aback when I read that they're 100% one ethnic group and religion and was like, "This is peculiar, how come?" Then I realised they're quite tribal! They're a confederation of 36 different clans, with the latest addition being the Starwalker clan (I can only hope they're dead set on building rockets). Despite technologically being quite advanced (they have, at the least, satellites and orbital stations), cultural progression seems to have slowed significantly with comparison to RL examples. As such, they seem to be in a mass colonisation phase to obtain new resources for their tribes (especially given that food is quite a difficult resource to come by, or at least, feeding 36 billion people requires a lot of it) and they're showing a more imperialistic side of their confederacy. Looking back, it's surprising that a nation of 36 billion people has all of them being of one ethnic group (assuming ethnic cleansing isn't a thing that's done super regularly ) and religion (assuming, again, there's no super effective inquisition or something).

There was an attempted but failed anti-Soviet uprising in 1949. Suppression of religion/historical heritage as well as the development of industry took place in the 1960s. An overwhelming majority of 94 percent voted for independence in 1991 as the Soviet Union was collapsing.

I learned that their political system is entirely odd and byzantine, described as a "Unitary one-party conservative corporatist parliamentary constitutional monarchy", and has both an Emperor and a Premier (i.e. normal government for a constitutional monarchy, though "premier" is an odd title) and an Executive Council which is either a council of ministers serving the Premier or something too odd to have a place in a monarchy.
