The Pulitov river facilitates water transportation and is surrounded by farmland, while forests in the north cover almost half of the land area. It is a state atheist country that suppresses religious expression. The fertility rate is 3.2 births per woman due to a ban on abortion and contraception. The Supreme Leader of the authoritarian government is "elected" by a small group of Councilors, and is usually succeeded dynastically. About 53% of the state capitalist economy is comprised of the services sector, with 45% percent devoted to industry.

Though this raises some questions, how did plate tectonics make Japan into what it is now? It seems like a Hatsunian plate has to exist or some other plate must have different shapes for Hatsunia to have its current shape. Where does the Pacific plate subduct under the Eurasian plate for example? Under the home islands or the eastern islands? Yeah, I have a lot of technical questions about the plate tectonics of Hatsunia.

They are undergoing an OOC retcon. How it will look like afterwards overall is anyone's guess.

Amusingly, their analysis of the Visoran timekeeping system seems to be rather vague, considering they say that either 35-ish units equals one year, or one unit equals 120 years.

One point of difference between Hatsunia and real life Japan, among many others, is the existence of Absolute Primogeniture (as opposed to, well, Agnatic Primogeniture as it exists in real life Japan) in its succession laws. Prior to 1978, Hatsunia likely had a common European male-preferred primogeniture system, though this isn't confirmed.
