The defense-in-depth strategy employed on their planets would range from providing great resistance to being virtually impregnable, depending on the planetary level of development. Intelligent invaders would be prudent in taking some of their time to bombard heavily defended positions from orbit, as the citadels are certainly designed to give the defenders the advantage and make any attackers fight tooth and nail for every last inch.

Offensive:

Defensive:
-Trench Warfare: A last resort tactic that involves falling back to an entrenched fortification
-Scorched Earth: The last resort option of destroying all useful supplies that cannot be moved during a retreat so the enemy cannot use them.

Both:
-Ambush: A sudden and unexpected attack on an unprepared enemy. Usually a hit-and-run tactic.

-Blockade: Area denial of access to an enemy port.

Well, so far the only thing they have for military is a plan of last resort, meant to draw everyone to arms, akin to Gonswanza's "final act" strategy of turning the islands into hell on earth, though that would occur after the islands have been nuked as a last resort... Or it may occur prior, depending on the circumstance.

Beyond that, I suppose its down to how mysterious their shadow of a military is. Spooky ghost soldiers, oooo!

Offensive tactics? Oh, right. The intent is to simply overwhelm the enemy, crushing resistance and using the terrain to one's advantage. Tactics vary mildly, but in general, it follows such:

The airforce offers a swift and sudden strike against anti-air defenses, hardpoints, bunkers (using earth-penetrating munitions), and any infrastructure as well, if possible within the first wave. The Devastator Class carrier seems scary. It has 12x 150mm naval autocannons, and it uses 100mm caliber for its anti aircraft guns. Those caliber alone might be the biggest on modern navies in terms of AA. Now, all those guns managed to fit in the carrier. I guess this is why they classified it as super carrier. Just from thinking it alone, you can already picture the sheer size of it.

Their JP-1 MBT would probably annihilate anything that we could field with it's 130mm cannon. It has titanium armour reinforced with depleted uranium, which, at it's thickest on the front turret, is 1,600mm

while not necessarily advanced from what I can tell, fielding a relatively moderate sized military able to support a solid and very menacing armored corps, its most notable for its versatility where other European nations fall of.

I am going to further elaborate on my earlier posts regarding the uploading technology. The sheer amount of processing power and energy their state possesses easily allows them to create individual, ever-updating torture chambers for each and every person their military captures. This is Lovecraftian level of abomination if you ask me.

The fact that they have a space navy that has likely been actually tested in war. While all powers in our system have been building up space forces, no one has been in a space war yet to test out space naval theory.

Holding the capability to do FTL travels is enough of a factor to make one's military terrifying by nature. Apparently AN has mastered it already. To us, we cannot comprehend it.

The ease with which Battlemages can absolutely pwn anything with basic spells.

I could be walking along with an entire platoon and a single battlemage teleports in, hits us all with mindbreak, and vanishes.


Also, they have the controllable magic equivalent to an atomic bomb; Life reap. Not even mentioning they could summon Godzilla.

The fact that they're a giant space empire. They can attack us from any number of directions with overwhelming force while their size makes them immune from our slow fleets from doing any major damage against them.
