A good flag, and the shade of blue is quite nice. However, it doesn't communicate much, and the crescent is too Islamic for me, given that it doesn't fit your current worldbuilding.

It's quite simple, isn't it? It's just a blue background, with a symbol in the top left corner. The symbol is kind of weird, a half moon written LIBERTY and that's it.

I don't even know how to judge that, to be honest. By the rules of vexillology, the only mistake made was writing on the flag. But hey, you can't go wrong if you don't try, right?

Usually people here complain about the ripple effect, but I think that for a flag as simplistic as yours, maybe it would do you some good.

Honestly, I think it's a pretty nice flag. The colors and design are overall simple, but appealing. I'd rate it a 7.5/10.

I like it. It's uncluttered, has relevant symbolism, shows the dynamic of the nation, and would likely be visible from afar. The only qualm I have with this flag is that it doesn't seem like something the German Empire would use. It looks like an alt-history flag. if I were designing it, I would use the german color scheme with a coat of arms that combines the German and French flags and symbolism. Nevertheless, a solid 8/10. (Also, I'd remove the outline of the Iron Cross if you keep your design.)

Don't get me Wrong it's very unique. But the Emblem blends in with the background and ruins it. I like that it is a New England Variant.
I have my own map given its much blurry I'll fix it at some point...

But yea your flag is very good but maybe a few touch ups to the Emblem would help it.

It's a good flag, in theory, and the white outline on the saltire is excellently used to justify the lighter blue of the saltire itself.

My only potential gripe is the outline should be slightly more pronounced, rather than looking like a potential mistake. I would say add a third major color, but I am not sure where, and that would arguably be hypocritical of me, given my past flags.

It accomplishes the five principles of flags: Simplicity, Symbolism, two or three colors, no lettering or seals, and distinctiveness. The fleur-de-lis upon the shield is all what the flag needs - those two symbols can tell a deep story depending on the interpretation. Perfecto!

Nice colors, complex enough to not be boringly simple, but not complex enough be an eye pain, so nice design choices. The colors are also quite calm which in tandem with the birds makes the flag give off a vibe of just being kind of calm. Very good flag 9/10

I’m not a big fan of just a nordic cross, but it is thicker than normal, so it gets a bit more for originality. Other than that, it’s kind of boring. The cross is like an off-white/whitish yellow and I don't really I like it that much. The sword charge is kind of boring but at least fills in some space because I think that nordic cross flags are just empty, so it's a change for the better. Overall 6/10

Certainly an interesting flag. It reminds me of Chinese war banners, which are pretty unique. It's also got a unique color palette that works well. A solid flag, though I think the number 4 is a bit misplaced. 7/10

Knowing the nation is based around the idea of a liberal and independent Southern USA, I'd say the flag sells that idea well. Though the flag's shape invokes our world's CSA and thus invoke the unsavory parts of it, it also invokes the idea of the American South the strongest. And with the colours and iconography altered to be more calm and welcoming, suddenly you have essntialy the cooler South.

So, it is 10/10 for your nation specifically, and a 8/10 for overall eye pleasure.

It's complex, low-res, weird, and just bad.

The tricolor part is janky and the red bar is too wide. The random blue bar between the red and yellow is out of place, and the yellow trim on the white is eye-hurting and hard to see. The stars don't make any sense. The emblem is the only redeeming part of the flag, as it's a nice sigil.
