I didn’t know plutonium didn’t exist naturally until you said so. Also in this universe nuclear weapons development died out, meaning there is no Cold War. This world’s Soviet Union was essentially a democratic socialist democracy and there isn’t a Red Scare too. There has been some use of nuclear energy but other than that nothing really happens with nuclear stuff. Zeadi is like DR Congo or Zaire which has some rare earth minerals like Uranium. Also it was also super top secret not even the Jamesian Government could figure it out until he faked his death. So that answers your question.

Will you consider eventually doing an international-style factbook to showcase the different "nations" of the region the Kiu roam around in, like the Berghi Empire, the trader peoples to the North, and a more detailed look into the Alechi, or do you plan on keeping them as more or less background props while focusing all your efforts within KG on the Ghesites themselves?

They're definitely getting that sort of thing. Eventually. I've preoccupied myself with other projects and IRL stuff at the moment, and as a result my to-do list has slipped a little bit, but that's really quite high up there on the list, right after detailing a little more of the Ghesites' own culture and traditions. It's item number 2 or 3.

That's certainly relatable. In any case, I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with once you do get around to it. Gotta give the slaves of the Machine some love too ;)

BN: It's nothing particularly esoteric or anything - I mostly just spend copious amounts of time trawling through DeviantArt, ArtStation, and Pixiv, and happening across accounts and image repositories that I'm happy with along the way. I don't mean to brag ok I kind of do, but I do think I have a good eye for what works best within my desired context, and that definitely helps me in my otherwise largely haphazard browsing. One other thing that's probably contributing a good amount to the aesthetic consistency is the fact that I pretty much always do some final tweaks to images before adding them into my factbooks. Usually it's just minor adjustments to colours and lighting, though sometimes I'll add in extra details to make them fit better.

Where in hell do you even get your images from? Pretty much all the pics from the factbook-marked factbooks have that perfect combination of black and dark grays along with a splash of almost blinding neon colors from time to time either that or a lot of distorted flesh and skin. There's gotta be some hidden cache for all of these or something.

Yes, it does. The Ouroboros on it's own represents infinity, and because of that it has been adopted as the main symbol of my nation's ideology. Progress continues perpetually, and the Future forever becomes the Present.

If you could save one significant piece of evidence from any Mesoamerican civilisation (which could be useful to you or fellow historians), what would you choose? I remember earlier you told us about the ph levels of soil- am I right in guessing you would choose bodies?

@Sanghyeok
I'd like to see some bodies alright, but they wouldn't be in the Mesoamerican zone or be Pre-classic Olmecs at all. That's not my interest. I'd like to find some Epiclassic or Postclassic merchant in Oklahoma, Alabama or Missouri. It'd prove a hypothesis that the Potter Gorget represents a foreigner. Or disprove it and some bits of hard diffusionism...even if motifs of winged/feathered serpents, beliefs about ancestors and rain, 4-color corn-based cosmograms and turkeys going to the underworld are common in the Southwest and the Southeast, well outside of Mesoamerica. Hell, if not the Northeast, I'd settle for a body in the American Southwest. Central Mexican ceramics and imitations have been found in Arizona and New Mexico IIRC.

PS: Not to not sound like a petulant jerk (sorry if I do come out that way), but the formal phrase would be "any Mesoamerican culture" not "any civilization". Mesoamerican civilization encompasses a variety of cultures that shared a general set of beliefs, technologies, and customs that lived in what is now Central and Southern Mexico and Central America for about a bit more than 2 millennia; Olmecs (though that opens up even more debates whether artistic styles can be used to trace and label cultures), Maya, Teotihuacanos, Mixtecs and Zapotecs, "Aztecs" etc., all formed part of the same civilization.

For example, we can get iffy on the matter of multiple civilizations in the area when one's talking about Western Mexico...as it is still debatable whether they were culturally a part of Mesoamerica despite the geographic proximity and different experts have varied conclusions./SKIP ME

I created a lore for this nation that is also part of a greater lore. This is just a idealized version of the USA. James was an explorer in this universe. Like Amerigo Vespucci that named the country after James.

So, yes. I haven't really figured out how it works exactly, but the ocean nation(s) is known as Tantu, and share their name w/ the goddess of the deep and dreams. They're despised as demons and cursed creatures by the Palahu, and are kinda similar to Lovecraft's Deep Ones in idea. I imagine them as very mysterious (might be due to the fact I haven't put any effort into fleshing them out yet), and sort of a Lovecraftian, oceanic version of JRR Tolkein's orcs. As for freshwater mermaids, either there are none and have never been any, or they were the followers of Iteru, and went extinct with her death. I haven't completely decided yet. Though if they did die out, some interesting things could happen in the future, so probably that one.

Skip me.
