Hi! Great Basin Kingdom! (GBK)

I have some few questions for you!

1. OOC: This nation seems well-refined and has in-depth lore and worldbuilding! Is this your first nation in F7 or in NS? Do you know Baizou? I heard that she's a great person!
2. How did GBK manage to win against the United States?
3. What POD led Joseph Smith and the Mormons to be absent in this timeline, or if they do exist in this timeline, what happened to them? Or is GBK and the Mormons the same, but a POD led the IRL Mormons to change into what is now the GBK in this timeline?
4. What are GBK-First Nations relations like?

1. Image

I guess I'm not actually that subtle or sneaky? XD

First 3-B, and now this... Heck, it's just like the meme! If I had a nickel for every time someone casually identified my puppet I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but...

(Also thank you, that's very sweet of you to say, and you're the really great one!)

2. That's admittedly probably one of the less plausible parts of GBK's history... But! I figure that there's a chance. The United States pushes into the intermountain corridor and the Southwest as part of the Mexican-American War. GBK introduces a second front, so the United States isn't just fighting GBK or just Mexico; the US is fighting both simultaneously. GBK and Mexico cooperate, and the end result is that the US can't manage both fronts and can't commit to the kind of near-guerilla warfare GBK is willing to resort to. Polk agrees to an armistice and peace in order to end a costly war that was getting increasingly unpopular.

3. So there's sort of a yes-and-no on this one. In GBK's timeline, GBK basically is-slash-replaces the Mormon/Latter Day Saint movement? There's no other Joseph Smith running around, there was just the farmboy prophet, and there's just GBK. I realize that having real historical people on the American side in Grant and Jackson makes things weird, but I didn't want to out-and-out roleplay historical Latter-day Saints when GBK actually pretty heavily revises the history. So there's not really a point of departure other than asking, what if the things that are pretty radical and unusual about this denomination's early history were amped up to their—fullest potential? That's not really the right language, but it's roughly the idea behind GBK. What if the anti-American critique stayed central in the movement, instead of getting pushed to the side in a bid for respectability? What if the protest against Victorian sexuality embraced equality instead of patriarchy? What if the communitarian ideas flowered instead of being smothered under the weight of the Gilded Age? It's... probably a bit weird as alternate history goes, I realize. ^^;

4. At some point I need to write out Patchoroowit's bio, since that is where this question gets more fully answered. The short-ish version is that GBK's relations with the *indigenous peoples/First Nations are... complicated. On the one hand, the Basinites sympathize with the United Bands of the Great Basin (which includes Utes, Paiutes, Goshutes, Shoshone, and more) because they see the UBGB as fellow victims of the American empire, a class of people oppressed by the modern Babylon of Euro-American hegemony. GBK and the UBGB have a formal alliance, and in truth most of the territory that GBK claims is actually occupied by UBGB communities, and GBK avoids interfering with them. Some UBGB folks have even joined the Basinites' church, though not most. Still, as Caitlin Bankes's line about Patchoroowit suggests, this doesn't necessarily mean the relationship is without difficulties. The Basinites are most Euro-Americans by birth and the older generation by upbringing, and their way of life is sedentary and agrarian, which doesn't coexist with the more itinerant lifestyle of most of the peoples who affiliate with the UBGB, many of whom, like the Shoshone and Utes, have seasonal living patterns in which they move between different parts of the region in a manner that Basinite farmers aren't used to living around. Nothing's come of it so far, but Patchoroowit's fear is that the Basinites are more "white" than Basinite, that as much as they respect and admire their indigenous neighbors, that if push came to shove the Basinites might turn into the settler-colonial state they claim to loathe. Whether his fears pan out, well, that depends on a lot of contingent futures that haven't happened yet.

*"First Nations" is not as common a terminology in discourses about native peoples in the territory currently claimed in the United States, for complicated reasons. Different audiences use Native Americans, American Indians, indigenous peoples, etc., which are all also disputed and complicated. When more specific communities are known (i.e. Shoshone, Goshute, etc.), that's what's usually preferred. Since the in-setting UBGB, led by Patchoroowit, comprises people from many bands/nations/peoples, I use that acronym here

Hello Feyrisshire, a nation of catgirls (and boys) is certainly a unique concept in this game. Why did you decide to draw inspiration from what I assume is British/Norse culture with Feyris faith and Balinese culture with the carvings instead of borrowing more aspects from Japan? It definitely adds to the originality and is a thumbs up from me, but I wanna know the reasoning.

Whoops, forgot I made a post here, sorry for the wait.
Good questions though, thank you very much.

1. Because A) I played Oracle of Seasons first and only got to ages far later, therefore preffering the former, and B) Onox being far better as a fit for this kind of nation.
Veran will make an appearance, though she will be placed in a different place, currently planned to be the forest region.

2.With Anti-Realism, I object to the inclusion of recent real events into fiction in general, like putting Corona, recent US Presidents,the Ukraine Invasion, etc. As it breaks the fourth wall and hinders the little escape from reality fiction can bring, as well as the often smug undertones off "Oh, my super genius self insert would've solved X problem easily" that I see not just here, but in Fiction in General (like comic book characters easily solving problems with ease cause they are just that awesome, which borders on disrespect to the people actually doing their best to deal with the problem in reality.)
Anyhow, at it's core, I just want reality and fiction seperated.

3. One link is grown up and already known as Hero for defeating Onox's underling Aginahm, as mentioned in the backstory and his biography, the other link is currently not known yet. There are, however, 2 active links in the setting.

4. I haven't developed Latos very much yet, but as an example, I can name that Latos has picked up Onox's peculiar way of referring to himself, will likely give him more once I get around to fully write him out.

I have two questions.
1. In one of your NationStates banners (you know the image you can choose to show above your nation), one of them was a different flag than the one your using, what is this flag.

2. I looked at your maps and they're really well made, one nation really stands out which is the Amazon Confederation. Would this Confederation be one of the most eco-friendly states in the world considering where its located and is it primarily populated by indigenous peoples?
If you haven't thought out all the nations on the map you can feel free to skip this question as that is understandable considering how many nations you created.

What exactly would Sedna-Odinland look like? Most of the buildings you show off have a unique architectural style, so I'm curious to know what it might look like.

Have any of the subdivisions tried to secede, considering how the NIU is so diverse?

2- Where their idea for that nation came from
3- why you decided to establish it in 2027 instead of somewhere in the 50s, 80s etc

Both are great questions, I had a lot of fun with the first one.
1. The old architecture looks more unique. This might give me an idea to make some stone igloos in minecraft as that is what they would look like but for now I will show pictures of the old architecture then the modern one and then a mixture of both that would probably originate from the North Polean Renaissance that would originate in the 1500s. I will probably make a factbook maybe a week from now or even tomorrow on architecture as that is very interesting and use the images in this posts, I'll also give you credit for inspiring this idea.
All the architecture you see here would be found in Sedna-Odinland.

2. Indeed there has mainly with the Iñupiaq and Inuvialuktun. The Iñupiaq and Inuvialuktun Independence Party (IIIP) came to be in the in 1650 but became popular in 1910 and they started a civil war. They are apart of a civil war again that happened in 2022. I've already started some on that factbook which is all in a Google doc but it was a pain to make and I didn't have fun so I'm taking a break from making it.

Just three questions.
1.) Why does Nemias hate Easter & Christmas?
2.) What are the demographics of the Empire like? Are humans dominant throughout or are there dimensions or groups of planets where they're outnumbered by other species?
3.) In what way have the Lurertoni been exploited until recently?
Factbooks and dispatches (which are works in progress) are the primary source of information for my nation. I try to have my stats match my idea of my nation but I think policies are the stat I can control the most.

I don't dislike anyone here. Agree or disagree, we're all compadres. :-)

1. Aqua is a very WIP language, but I will set it into the official language along with the update of "Deanimenasation". So basically it is a Gaul-Romance Language but heavily influenced by West Slav and Ural. Here is an example of the Aqua Language, which means "The Industrial Revolution and its consequences were a disaster for the human race."

"La Révolution téllinéka und sono konçékonsaani vis humanraçaifa alkatastrada.

La - The
Révolution - Revolution
Télliné - Industry
ka - Suffix for adjective form
-> Téllinéka - Industrial
und - And
sono - its
Konçékonsa - Consequence
ani - Suffix for plural form
-> Konçekonsaani - Consequences
vis - Work like was/were
Human - Human
Raça - Race
-> Humanraça - Human race
ifa - For
al - A
Katastra - Disaster
da - Agglutination used for ending a sentence when the last sound is T, with a meaning of "Affirming" and "Declarative"

2. The Aqua people are ensured with their personal and political freedoms, and it is completely fine for them to judge the UWP publicly, when you can see it is just a party in a coalition which have its opposing parties. The people have no restrictions on their behaviours except for those violating the law, and many things that might be illegal in countries, including public nudity, are completely legal in the Aquaria. However, we do have a strict civil law based on the French Civil Law and the Soviet Socialist Law. While of course they will be written reasonably, and the personal freedom isn't heavily affected, there are serious penalties.

3. Yes indeed. "Insert name here" LXI (Ye I am rewriting this part), the last Emperor of South Aquaria fled to the North with his family after the Fascist November Coup, and they settled down as a normal family you'd see in the modern Aquaria. "Insert name here" LXI and his issues actively participate in the politics, while the former emperor even become a communist and a MP of the Federal Parliament. Yeah, I can tell they are living a quite enjoyable life, except for the part they are never getting back their position as the Imperial Family.

4. Yesn't? While we are anti-capitalist, we still managed to maintain a friendly relationship with certain capitalist countries, notably the French Republic, Ireland and Denmark.

The Aquaria wrote:1. Is your country's history compatible with the IRL history? Like, were there 2 world wars? Did Tito and many other famous Yugoslav/Balkan politicians exist?
2. Is your universe full of monarchies? Was there any kind of republican revolution attempted in the whole world to overthrow one monarchy?
3. How did the imperial house maintain its popularity so that the people seem unconditional to support them?
4. How is Romilijan's life?
5. Do you want an ice cream of chocolate flavour or mango?

1. No, it's not compatible. Things are very different in the Romilijan universe even outside the Balkans. The Mongols overran the Russians, and remained strong in the Urals even after fracturing, thus there is no Russia. The Christian world isn't divided between Greeks and Latins, and you may notice on this map that the Holy Roman Empire is still an extant force in Europe, and that everywhere's a kingdom.

As for Tito and others, they very well could have existed—several real life figures after the point of divergence still exist (Pope Francis, for example)—but if they did, they would have taken a very different course in life. Perhaps as ordinary working men, or soldiers, or priests even. To become revolutionaries would not be an option for them; by the time they would be born republicanism and all ideologies stemming from it were a distant memory.

2. Yes, it is full of monarchies. In the 17th and 18th century a series of large scale 'peasant revolts' rocked Europe, seeking to establish peasant republics with leaders elected by the people. The intelligentsia and ruling classes, in this universe not seduced by the diversity of thought of a strong Reformation among other factors, failed to support these, and so nothing much came of them. Well, nothing save for the idea of common people being elected by the common people to positions, which the monarchies salvaged from the carcass of the dead idea of republicanism.

3. The idea of divine right, plus virtue and competence. Devout as the alternate Romilijan world is, they believe their monarch is monarch by right.
A lot of Vojislavljevic rulers throughout history have also been known for their personal virtue or popularity. There's St. Radica, St. Radovan... Dubravka, the medieval pacifist, Budimir the father to a nation.

Most Vojislavljevic rulers in history fall under the following categories:
* People-pleasers
* Doers
* Caretakers

The people-pleasers are the ones who ingratiate themselves to the people; create a cult of personality not so much with the intent to repress but because they are really that likable sort that gathers popularity easily. The current Empress' predecessor Budimir is an example, as was his long-lived grandfather Jovan Vladimir II, a lovable stage and later movie actor.

The doers are the great reformers of their day, or even renowned military leaders or political leaders that helped the country ascend on the world stage. These are the giants like St. Radovan, Petar the first king, Mihailo the first emperor, Matija II the unifier... these are only some examples.

The caretakers are the less extraordinary ones, and there are many of these in both old and recent history, but despite some of them not being so notable, they show enough competence to navigate the nation through the age's challenges in a satisfactory way. Examples are Casna Opulentis, who, while legendary in opulence, maintained the Budimirian prosperity, Vladimir, the current Empress' grandfather who led the nation into the 21st century, among many others.

In short there have been very few 'duds' who have stepped up to the throne, and a lot of competence on most people sitting on it.

4. As in most societies, it varies depending on who you are, but most Romilijans share the same traditional Christian values and try to live according to them.
Crime is low. The average working man is able to live decently on his wage. Taxes can be a bit punitive, but much of it is to fund the free public healthcare system, which in modern times has proven invaluable. Farmers enjoy generous subsidies under the policy of the current Empress.

Croatians grumble at the fat tourists coming in from the Kingdom of America clogging up the beaches and islands. Bulgarians are perpetually annoyed at the Neo-Byzantinist Greeks who come to Bulgaria and say that it was their territory before. Romanians keep to themselves, speaking their strange Romance language.

Life can be hard, life can be unfair, as in any country, but all in all, Romilija is a decent place to live that hard, unfair life.

5. Mango. I've had chocolate ice cream too much and these days I find it's a bit stale. Mango is unique, and I don't get to have it often so it's a fresh taste of sorts.

Factbooks and dispatches (which are works in progress) are the primary source of information for my nation. I try to have my stats match my idea of my nation but I think policies are the stat I can control the most.

I don't dislike anyone here. Agree or disagree, we're all compadres. :-)

3. What are the influences of the Dutch in modern-day Avrram?

1. The Federation of Avrram and the People's Republic of China have a strained relationship as of late. And we rightly have many reasons to do so, We have a few economic agreements but this is where it ends. The general public despises the PRC for it's crimes against their Muslim uyghur population. Especially since we have a large Muslim population so it feels like a slap in the face.

As for the rest of our Asian neighbors: Japan and South Korea are some of our strongest Allies and we have good relations with all members of ASEAN, although they are reluctant to enter into any alliances due to the PRC. We are backing Vietnam's claims on Islands in the South China Sea to strengthen our own.

2. No, but I would like to visit someday. It seems like such a diverse place!

3. Well, The European descended part of the population and mixed ancestry (aka: Indos) speak a creole language called: Petjo. a combination of Dutch and native languages. It's very popular with the young as being "hip" and used in popular music and hip hop. We adopted the Dutch's multilingualism, their songs, their tasty food (Bitterballen's a national favorite!) and western mannerisms from the Dutch.

But we still maintain significant parts of our native cultures! such as Pencak silat, Balinese Pendet dance, Wayang, and Nasi goreng!

Avrram's culture is diverse and full of life

1. Have there ever been any particularly scandalous leaders of Boldonia?
2. What does the average Boldonian home look like?
3. What is Boldonia's native population like? What languages do they speak?

1. Whenever I get asked questions about leaders (plural) it's kind of hard for me to answer. The thing is that Boldonia didn't have any leaders before the current one because we only just gained independence from the US March this year. Even if you do count the governor I don't have any lore for them. Just put it this way, when X party in the US was in a scandal, Y politician that was part of X party may or may not have been involved.
2. What does an average American home look like? This is a common trend in Boldonia, unless explicitly stated in the factbooks assume it is just the same as the Americans. But more specifically, at least in the areas that I care about, they are generally like in Miami or Honolulu.
3. Boldonia's native population doesn't really exist anymore. It was essentially ignored for the entirety of history until the Spanish showed up, either that or when the Spanish came they burned all of the evidence of a native population. Any natives from outside islands that do move to Boldonia for whatever reason are like the islands they came from. Hawaiians do like to move to Boldonia a lot so their language, Hawaiian, is the second most spoken and the one you'll see me use in any F7 threads that involve translating X into your nation's language due to the fact that English is the nation's language and everything on the site is already in English.

2. If America had a large influence over Partraige (I assume that they didn't abandon the country past 1820) why didn't America intervene when Targot took power? Was it because he was a nice little American lapdog?
3. Has Partraige contributed to the revival of the Irish language in Ireland?
