1) Personally I prefer lowballed estimations of the Drake Equation. I also feel like the Great Filter, if it exists, is somewhere around the stage of "planets that have complex life"; we see in our own geological record that while life emerges very shortly after the planet's formation, complex, multicellular life (that isn't colonial bacteria) takes something like three billion years to develop. That implies to me that the filter's somewhere in there, which leads me to in my own shoddy math and lowballed calculations to routinely get <10 intelligent civs per Milky-Way-sized galaxy. That excludes spacefaring civs, note. Thus, given how big the galaxy is, there's no reason that humanity would've contacted ayys by its current time in the setting, either physically or via radio (fiber-optics and laser communication are probably going to ruin that radio hypothesis, too). I should also note that Palisade's setting probably does have alien life, or evidence of it, but it's stuff like simple protein arrangements and unicellular organisms. There's no ayys because 1) they're outside of the scope of what I want to write and thus they'd be jammed in and 2) I just don't know how to write creative aliens.

Also, if you want to you can ask questions of any puppet I have, I don't mind at all.

2) Well, they'd have anecdotal knowledge of the civs in the lower Kiadan and across the not-Gobi that borders the southern coast of the inland sea they're on thanks to word of mouth from those Berghi they do interact with and the fact that they were once a civ in the lower Kiadan. They'd probably have a good deal of information about their northern neighbors' neighbors due to more significant trade interactions. Beyond that, I haven't written out enough geography to know for sure but it'd probably be on the scale of a few thousand kilometers.

3) Meteoric iron weapons, in all likelihood. They're not that interested in the cultures of far-off lands and all that jazz, and culturally they don't have that much use for exotic spices and such. They might have some attraction to foreign silks but I'm not sure that trade even exists yet in their time period. Need to research more and I don't have the time to do that. Meteoric iron at this time is incredibly rare and they're just on the verge but not yet all the way to actual ironworking yet, so that would make it incredibly valuable, I think. Probably wrong, but meh. Haven't given this one much thought either.

No, there's a potential for so many overlapping stories that I prefer to leave it open:

Think of it as a Catgirlception, as Kiu Ghesik once coined it to their credit. I imply that Las Palmeras might be a fantasy or hallucination within the minds of the characters in Tohorin, and that Charles and Tepka are idealized self-inserts of people that Charlie and Rairai want to be, and the opposite is hinted to happen.

BUT interdimensional merging and travel has happened in Tohorin several times in the past and that I tease that the Tohorinese are descended from the genetic experiments of the mad alchemist Hiroyuki Kon of the The Solar Remnant, which itself may explain why the Tohorinese were "Japanese" in the past but developed their own funny little culture. But the Tohorinese are also time-traveling "aliens" that have visited IRL Earth and control the US Government...But I have to say that the name could be a joke about the monster movie studio Toho that made Godzilla...and it's wacky over-the-top space aliens. So...heh.

Noticed you've been dealt a shitty card thanks to summerposters but not to worry, I'll try to throw some proper questions your way to the best of my ability.

Now starting off, while I certainly understand your aversion towards Stalinism in particular, I am curious. Have you ever thought about worldbuilding with the concept of Stalinism and relevant totalitarian interpretations of Marxism? How do you feel approaching the topic in general? Just generally curious about your thoughts.

Another question, while I can occasionally figure out the inspiration behind a nation from certain wording, concepts or imagery, I'm a bit stumped with your own source of inspiration. What inspired you to conceptualize 'United Communal Burrow Republics'? Also, why rabbits? No malice intended in the question even though 'why rabbits' sounds awfully blunt :P

Finally, I see you have an interest, particularly when it comes to the field of biology for the Rulzeans. Do you have an interest in biology outside of worldbuilding or find any practical use for it in your studies or career? I'm a biology major myself, albeit I'm a total novice but still, I like seeing people expand on the biological aspect of worldbuilding so kudos to you!

1. Oh yes of course, I've written several totalitarian socialist states over time, and I recognize that it can be an very interesting setting to expand on, and I have no qualms with those who enjoy writing under that setting. However, I am more than a little sick of having this nation mistaken for dictatorial, or even communist in the first place, so I like to drop little hints here and there. Oh, and it's also so tankies don't try to contact me, because jesus christ no thank you.

Honestly, the UCBR comes out of the ashes of my old nation Sildoria Synergetics, which was a hyper capitalistic trading nomad fleet from my region. I wanted to create a nation that lacked the central head that comes with capitalism, and create a nation devoted entirely to co-operation rather than individual profit. As such, this nation can be seen as the direct antithesis to my last nation, which it turns out I enjoy much more. Also I chose rabbits because I wanted to make a familiar-ish base for the race, wanted something communal, and also I just really like rabbits.

Honestly, I had such an awful time through HS that it's unlikely I'll ever really get around to getting any sort of way to get a degree, but biology has always been a big interest for me. The concept of life and such is always fascinating, especially with how many little things can make big impacts. So, if I ever do end up getting a higher career, it's certainly a possibility. Though to do that I'd have to stop being an idiot and that seems unlikely.

Besides the inspirations from real world religions I would say the one thing that inspired it was this reoccurring concept that appears in some of my fictional settings of emanations and there being this other plane that coexists but is in a higher level than the material one. But that too has basis in RL religion and philosophy. I guess another thing was that I wanted the main duality to be something that complimented the two forces which is why one god represented the material side of existence and the other ephemeral. I was also in a real kick about witches, cunning folks, and occultists when I made the religion so a lot of the magic was made with stories of those three in mind. Of course I always wanted to make a witch society along with a faith.

2. Yeah, we actually don't. But in this world, Cruise Missile Lauch Bays are actually on Cruisers themselves, so there is really no need for it.

3. Missiles do exist, but after some 2030 2nd American Civil War where the missiles were so Powerful to the point that one city was blown up with a Missile they have been handicapped Internationally, or what you call it, "Prohibited" also they mixed it with nuclear radiation, yes very brutal i know.

Two questions for you, if that's alright:

1. What was the inspiration behind "genetically-engineered would-be slave-soldiers" breaking away from Japan to form their own nation, especially given the time period it's set in? And this might be more on me, but given we're talking about Imperial Japan and human experimentation I couldn't help but be reminded about Unit 731, which I don't think anyone particularly likes to be reminded about. Does that factor in at all?

2. Glad to see that the Solar Remnant is LGBT friendly, but is it fair to say that stems from an Abrahamic religion not being practiced? Or is it more to do with them distancing themselves from the modern culture of Japan? I ask as it was my understanding that Meiji-Era Japan shifted towards rejecting homosexuality as it "westernised".

1, How has your experience on Nationstates been so far, and 2, how did you find Nationstates.

That's all :)

1) I wanted to play around with how somebody could make the Tohorinese of Las Palmeras and Tohorin's lore. There are tons of artistic liberties, if you can call them that. I was influenced by weird or Fortean fiction, The Island of Dr. Moreau, and yes, Unit 731, though the unit's leader is actually Kon's rival in the lore. And I believe the X-Files had a similar plot line now that you make me remember, about ex-IJA doctors splicing alien and human DNA.

I admit, the references to atrocities and the black humor can come across as crude, but I'm desperate as a F7 worldbuilder. A huge point of Las Palmeras was to show people the not-so-cutesy implications of a nation with a lopsided sex-ratio and "catgirls" as I was in part, making fun of anime and harem anime; namely how gender mores over dying and killing could possibly be affected when women are the so-called "expendable gender" and not the "fairer sex". But most people tend to look past that and see only what's on the surface level, even after countless thinly-veiled references to early Shōwa-era Japan in my main nation. The idea was also hatched when Jordan Peterson and evo-psych bros were popular in the internet and when I was more hot-headed, as a joke meant to piss on those folk. And potentially also radfems if the whole "Is organic violence Girl Power? Is it even grassroots?" theme is presented as I don't shy away from portraying Tohorinese women as every bit as cruel and sadistic as the Conquistadors they followed around. If one is more to-the-point, I guess a nature vs. nurture debate over the violent tendencies in catgirls can spring up and I intentionally leave it vague.

So I more or less got frustrated and made these themes as overt as possible in the Solar Remnant as they're blatantly impossible to ignore. I'm actually happy that somebody said that my work can finally make people uncomfortable, as that was always the point, to give them a cold douse of shower thoughts. But now I'm unnerved over not intentionally offending people... I actually toned down the lore a bit and once had a disclaimer in my sig that I'm no Tojoboo warcrime apologist, if you can believe me.

2) It's a bad joke referring to how a lot of Western leaders in F7 tend to virtue signal over how they're quirky and nice and wholesome by enacting pro-LGBT policies. But your assessment is also not incorrect.
