1.It was a one time thing, but it certainly wasn't by chance. I suggest reading the Testament of Svyatoslav Bogdanovich Bogomolov (under dispatches) for more context
2.Yes, there were theories that it was some unknown nation's secret weapon, however, it was natural (as in not caused by man), and no scientific studies have been able to pinpoint the cause, and the event itself caused both panic and absolute jubilee, depending whether or not the person in question supported the communist regime or was oppressed by it, respectively.
3. Yes, some people did all sorts of dumb things being superstitious that it would happen to them in an effort to hopefully prevent it

why does your flag look funni with a monochrome fully filled and colored sword with gun on a dissonant background? what does this mean for your nation, how did you made it or did you just run out of flags to use?

Hi, Feyrisshire.
1) It started out more as an in-joke than anything, related to all the hypothesis that early-modern European writers had over how the Americas were populated. That is, they had plenty of ideas we'd consider outlandish nowadays, like Diluvian shipwrecks, the 10 Tribes of Israel, ancient trans-oceanic journeys and stuff like that or trying to link the indigenous people to known ancient civilizations of the Old World. I took it to the extreme as there's no Bering strait (an idea roughly thought of since the 1590s IIRC) or a similar geographic convenience. Though the contrast with Japanese tropes about neko maids was intentional too.

Cats are prolific killers, good hunters in their own right. I don't get why cat-girls are seen as similar to Playboy bunny girls.

2) The Guanche and other Canarian people actually were absorbed or made vassals to the ancient Cat Empire some time between 1 and 300 AD, and they still exist as a notable minority or a mixed community in LP's world. That being said, I took inspiration from the Archaic Empire from Egypt, Tartessos and Teotihuacán...then it 'effed up with deforestation, entered a millennia-long "dark age", and Latinized itself in Classical Antiquity, before getting into isolation again. From the 12th Century up to the 1500s, I based a lot of things on the Japanese Sengoku period and the Hundred Year's War. I've been tempted to write about the remote "mythic past", Atlantis-esque shenanigans and contact with an African empire in the Green Sahara...but that's far closer to fiction than anything real.

3) Thanks for noticing, the whole "faux-historical and archeological tone" is purposeful, as the Palmeran writers in the 1950s-1960s are just as clueless as the reader is, hence the contradictory theories. And even I can't decide what to do with the remote past. Considering how recent Japonic is and how late the migration would've had to take place, I'm really itching to use UFOs or magic.

4) I think everybody left Gensokyo for another Touhou themed region ages ago. But I spend most of my time on F7 so I really don't mind.

Libertas in Lumine Christi wrote:This is a bit generic, but I'm genuinely curious, what was the inspiration behind your country and its history?

I might be misinterpreting this question, but... Well, the background lore? I'll admit, it originally was pretty much me trying to summarize the pre-existing lore for Mental Omega, maybe even with some explanation behind the un-explained stuff. As for the inspiration behind why Foehn is like that? It's mostly because of, and let me be blunt, my genuine hatred for the original faction, from its "oh we're the good guys look at us" attitude (in a mod that's gone out of their way to portray the bleakness of the other three factions), to the fact that it's the creator's pet faction. Plus some knowledge about actual guerrilla movements that may have managed to sneak in. I don't know.

Teffland wrote:1. How much inspiration did you take from the Command and Conquer series?(Can remember the core of the story, but not the details)

2. What does your flag mean?

1. Well, probably slightly more than how much the mod devs took?

2. I'll be brutally honest on this one, I... still have to work that out. I guess one could interpret it as the strike that'll take out Epsilon?

Feyrisshire wrote:1. The current picture of Yunru looks very funni as if almost like it's a caricature of her and not her. Do you intend to pick more images for the future, or do you intention this funni photo to paint our impression of hers?

3. Why did you follow kiu when she tried to make you do this?

1. I'm leaning towards the latter, simply because it already portrays this whole "broken" aspect of her much better than anything else I (or, rather, RACA) could find on, say, Pixiv, ever could. Doesn't help that the original character is... how can I say this... you know what? I'll let you judge for yourself. A lot of the pre-existing art, thus, reflects the aspects that I've devouted myself to avoid representing, meaning that I... pretty much have no choice but to rely on tailor-made stuff. In other words, I'll likely not get any more images for the foreseeable future. Who knows, maybe it'll change.
2. I'm gonna throw a hapharzadous guess here and say that the second and third "best" leaders would've been the scientists who suggested marching eastwards, given that they had more knowledge of the geopolitical scene of the world at the time. As for Yunru's statement? I think it mostly depends on when she'd have said it. Had it been said in the early days of the Paramilitary, I think it would be fair to say that it would've been much more of an exaggeration. Now, though? With how much of a paranoid control freak she's become, I wouldn't be surprised if she genuinely means it when she says that.
3. tbh it was more of a "hey, she mentioned this in-joke (bishietoly), what if I replied by doing this other in-joke (anatolysa)?" situation, rather than "she wanted me to do this" sorta thing. besides, since it's a separate dispatch, I can just delete it if I don't want it anymore. so... really, "shits and giggles between us" could be the reason why I did it.

1. Immensely, the mere existence of Berhakonia skews the flow of trade and industry across the entirety of Asia. With enough smart planning and policy-making, Berhakonia could easily transform into the pump which controls the lifeblood of the Old World and siphon great amounts of trade power away from Russia, China, Persia, Rajputana, Rhomaion, Medina and any of the surrounding states. It is also partly why Indian Ocean trade has dropped so dramatically in the past few decades; companies would rather take advantage of the robust roads and checkpoints of Berhakonia's interior than fare the pirate, guerilla and paramilitary-infested waters of the Indian Ocean.

2. In the past, yes, but only in the sense of colonizer/colonized relationship. It has been many decades since decolonization, and while Berhakonia still carries the scars of imperialist powers who've carved up so much of her land in the past few centuries, these emnities are largely forgiven.

3. Really, the same as any other non-western nation, combined with the fact that enlightenment thinking never caught on anywhere else to the same degree that it did in our world. So, while the same debates on social ethics still exist in Berhakonia's setting, the fundamental nature of these debates is radically different.

2) The 80s: Awesome music. Iconic anime. Aesthetics. Great Hollywood hits. Peak Cold War shenanigans. What's not to love about the cool boomers with synth-music and cocaine?
3) Two WW2 French victory timelines in the Alternate History Forum. From what I recall, many of the scenarios were based on years of actual wargaming and simulations of big what-ifs that could have occurred during the Battle of France. Alternate Histories are built on speculations founded by speculations, so it's short scope (a war between 1940-41/42) is quite manageable and I find it way more believable than the underdog-wank and "Great Man" histories of Turtledove fare.

When it comes to published material, Ralph Peters' Red Army takes an honorable mention too for similar purposes: it was written by an expert on the matter and I like how the author takes things like logistics, OODA loops and even military doctrine and even work culture into account. Lots of alternate histories tend to handwave away the little things that matter. /SKIP

1. honestly, there wasn't any, it just looked good, and purple is considered a royal color because it was expensive to make. It wouldn't be until the 1690s that they get access to cheap purple dyes, and that's still from their perspective 180 years before Earth did... or about 760 years from Earth's perspective. The only meaning on the flag is the crown, and that isn't symbolic.
2. If you want to count it, the Saurian Incident. if not, the seventh Wolven-Vixon War. There is no World War 2 analogue on Animus.

1. Eh, it is a bit complicated. Conflicts in this world are much more about lands and territories, so it definitely involves food production in one way or another.

'Predator/prey conflict' in our sense is nonexistent since fellow anthros do not eat each other as it is oftentimes considered 'uncivilized' and they basically eat the same food (either grains or livestock). Basically, now everyone is in the top of food chain. The coexistence is frequently disturbed and racial tensions here are much worse than in our world. It's like the entire world is the Balkans but amplified tenfold since the racial differences are much more prominent.

2. Yes, zoos do definitely exist. They contain ferals/animals that did not anthropomorphize, just like in our universe. And yes, these are usually full of herbivores, birds, reptiles, and invertebrates. (Some races of anthropomorphic birds and reptiles do exist, but their population is very rare/low.)

Yes, they're foxes, but the Wolven-Vixon wars weren't specifically wolf vs. fox, since there were foxes in the Eastern Kingdom and wolves, coyotes, and panthers in the Vixon tribes -- though vastly more of the latter than the former, with only two or three of each in the latter spread out across hundreds of tribes.
You may know at least one Vixon -- King Randorn's adopted daughter, Krystal.

Hello! Thanks for these wonderful questions!

1. When I say that Valhalla is a cybernetics company, it means that Valhalla creates human augmentations and helps its customers get upgraded with these parts. Need a new heart or lung? No problem! Valhalla can easily replace it with a cybernetic heart and lung that never fails. You want to slow down your aging? That's not a problem at all! Valhalla can inject cybernetics into you that help you look young! As for dealing with other tech giants like Microsoft. Those companies no longer exist in this universe and so Valhalla didn't have any challenges.

2. Surprisingly Valhalla treats its employees well and often times they get paid well. Though if an employee is causing trouble for the company like trying to leak information to the public, they get arrested by the company itself. The work environment can also be hostile at times, if said employee is trying to climb the corporate ladder to gain more power in the company. They run the risk of being a big target for other power-hungry employees also trying to climb the corporate ladder.

3. Valhalla doesn't care much about politics, the only thing the company cares about is making profits and remaining the only corporate power in America. As for controlling the government, Valhalla gives votes and funds to pro-corporate politicians who promise that the government won't interfere in Valhalla business affairs. Which basically makes Valhalla immune to all federal and state laws.

4. No I'm not new and I don't need help.

@Pirusavia

Which effects does the fact, that the society consists of different animals have on the life in the society in contrast to human societies?

Some examples:
What happens, if a cat applies for a job, and the HR consists of dogs?
Are the special skills of animals used in a special way, so that animals of one race tend to get the same professions?
Are there professions, that cannot exist in human societies - like a professional illness smeller (dog)?
How do you e.g. build stairs for animals of different size?
Do animals walk in the human way?
How do languages work - can every animal produce the same basic sounds? Or do you use a gesture based sign language and body language?

In the big picture, it depends. Some things change, some not.

What happens, if a cat applies for a job, and the HR consists of dogs?
It depends on the HR's racial tolerance. Most of the times they don't give a damn, but if something serious like a traumatic racial incident, e.g. wars, genocides, etc. were happened recently or in the past, the canines were probably much more hesitant in accepting a feline worker. It works just like in our world where some ethnic groups hate other ethnic groups despite being neighbours. sigh, Balkans

Are the special skills of animals used in a special way, so that animals of one race tend to get the same professions?
Yes, most of the races tend to work in a specialty and this also affected society. For example, fox ethnicities tend to develop perfumery coming from their sensitive smelling, and felines tend to develop musical cultures, from their sensitive hearing. In much more modern examples, being natural burrowers, badgers are very common at mining projects, and ferrets, being very physically flexible, they specialize in working in a small space, like fixing tunnels. Emphasis at 'common', so not every particular race are working in that field.

These special abilities are also widely used by the military. In Pirusavia, otters and stoats, being natural good swimmers, are mostly drafted/conscripted into either the Navy, Coast Guard, or the Marines.

This also created stereotypes for every race, like "sniffer wolves", "miner badgers", "eavesdropping cats", etc. These stereotypes could be offensive sometimes, but it depends on the context.

Are there professions, that cannot exist in human societies - like a professional illness smeller (dog)?
Yes, this do exist, as stated by the previous answer.

How do you e.g. build stairs for animals of different size?
Stairs are not a very big deal, most of them just look the same as our world since the anthropomorphic animals in this world have similar size, height, and weight in real-life humans, usually only 1.5x larger than the average. (The weasels became bigger, the tigers became smaller.) Some tools are also made to adapt with body shapes, like helmets, which are usually made with roofing or sometimes hollowed out to accommodate ears.

Do animals walk in the human way?
Yes. The anthropomorphic animals have body structure very similar to humans, and they walk on their heels (plantigrade). Due to this evolution, most of them lost their ability to walk four-legged properly.

How do languages work - can every animal produce the same basic sounds? Or do you use a gesture based sign language and body language?
Language evolution here depends heavily on the skull shape and the animal's natural ability to produce sounds. Not every race could pronounce a phoneme correctly due to their physical difference, meaning standardization was difficult. Languages from larger animals tend to have deeper, throatier, voiced, guttural voice, while languages from smaller animals tend to have higher pitch, unvoiced consonants, and fricatives.

However, this is not always the case. In Pirusavia, for example, I will give an example of the language of Mervalian (marten people) and Samgurtian (otter people) (NB: They are in the same language family). Mervalians tend to have their phonology dominated by guttural sounds - they employ a wide use of 'gh' and 'kh' sounds, voiced consonants, and back vowels. On the other hand, Samgurtians are much dominant with fricatives, front vowels, and voiceless consonants, despite Samgurtians being physically larger than Mervalians.

Standard Pirusavian was based off from Eastern Mervalian dialect, which was the commercial centre of Pirusavia. Every race could learn Pirusavian, but their accent could be noticed easily because not all the sounds were adapted to them. This also applies to any other language in this world.

A federal left-wing nationalist country situated in a fictional world in the extended Cold War timeline. Authoritarian by Western standards, Libertarian by Eastern standards. Atomic Tech - The year is 1978.

In process of retconning, especially regarding geography and demographics.

a lot of these are vague questions tbf

What was my idea behind Feyrisshire to begin with? Don't know tbf but a lot of it are certainly in there in it for the years. The core idea is essentially PT, because I feel that PT is interesting and that it is much more easier to have coherent, realistic and detailed worldbuilding by starting from PT and have it organically evolve and develop - but is too bothersome. Two, PT seem to be incongruent with the NS model much, such as Issues that I don't imagine how to conciliate with PT worldbuild and most seem to come here to MT (even FT?) worldbuild, not PT until Kiu showed how PT to be done idk if I regret not having done it earlier, and my current PT project is in hiatus.

A lot of the ideas however are just there just because, such as the political orientation, and a lot of the worldbuilding which is simply what I want to see and what I yearn to see. Some of it seem to have evolved over the months and from 2019-2020. Catgirls certainly are not there at first, and the original idea is elves and faeries, but due to Internet meme influence and momentum, everybody became catgirls (and self-realization?)

once again this question is too vague. my hobbies and interests are many such as watching anime, hentai, tuber, playing vidya games any such as paradox games, grand strategy games really, collecting plushie dolls, reading books on history and archeology, listening to music, making systemic procrastinations such as answering to questions on NS F7 threads... i could list many more in the sense of a normal "what are your hobbies and interests" bio, resume or "all about me", but i don't see the point of this question and benefit, unless you wanted to ask another question?

1. you seem to be here for a while and had already undergone rudimentary worldbuilding, but making a custom flag seems to be one of the de facto "rites of passage" new users undergo? why haven't you changed your flag and why it is still that of kiribati?
2. what's the point of documenting all decisions to new issues and what made you do that? is it too bothersome? or even new ways for documentation that is more interesting and innovative?

Feyrisshire,

You are a peculiar creature. There are a great many things you do that I cannot condone, but I wish to understand why you do these things.

1: Why cat girl anime? I am a huge Genshin Impact fan (I main Ningguang and I would crawl over broken glass to unlock Zhongli), but I never saw the appeal of cat girls. I find the whole aesthetic off-putting to say the least.

2: Why hentai? I am completely against any and all forms of "adult films" and comparable novels in my personal life. All of that sort of media is 100% illegal in Greater Liyue and we generally see it as disgusting. I knew some people who were into that sort of media and none of them were exactly savory characters. Worse still, someone who was extremely close to me was into that sort of thing. It made this person extremely deranged and depraved and was one of many factors why I cut all contact with this person (this person's hentai affinity was not the main factor, this person was in general a dishonest person involved in many questionable things and was cold and cruel to people who needed help in their most desperate hour). I fail to understand why people are into that sort of thing and I just want to know the logic behind it...

3: Have you ever played Genshin Impact? Who would you use? I will guess Diona, but please tell me who you would use.

4: Do you believe people can be redeemed? Part of the reason I cannot stand cat girls was that same person close to me (who we will call ??? from now on) was heinously obsessed with a lot of very off-putting anime and "waifus" (I love Ningguang, but become repulsed if anyone makes lewd art of her). I had three major changes in my life and my life as a whole is far better because of these changes. If you believe people can be redeemed, what is the way you think they can be redeemed?

5: Korean food is my favorite food, especially Bulgogi and Korean grilled fish in Gochujang sauce. Do you like Korean food? If so, which dishes?
