It was a historic song from the mid 1800s. Musically, it was harmonic, following the rules and ideals of the late Classical era from which it comes. Period instruments accompanied it. And they were singing about Southern rights. Which, all in all, gives it a 7 / 10 - not the greatest, but musically it wasn't a bad song for the time.
