"Well Fox, it is nice to meet you." The man used the the arm not currently charging the robot to raise his glass of orange juice in a toast.

"Here's to passing midterms, commanding inter-universal empires, and not dying."

The knight chuckles, it seems as if he has distracted himself with checking his equipment, sharpening his throwing daggers and checking for cracks in armor.

But sure enough he had ordered a tall glass that he raised.

"The lass has some battle scars of her own." The knight said in a faint whisper, pondering what could have occured having eavesdropped a bit as he was checking his gear.

"Chin up, you are with happy souls around here!" He spoke with a heavy voice, while he wore a helmet one could tell he was grinning.
"As long as you're with a good crowd there's nothing to worry about, an old friend told me that once."

Fox turns to look at the man and snorts. "Says the one who came here heavily protected!"

The tuxedo-clad man set back down his glass after clinking it against Fox's latte and the knight's tall glass, saying, "We all have our own forms of protection around here, whether it be our own or that of other people. You both seem like kind organi - people, yes, people, and I would happily drink with either of you any day."

As somewhat of a distraction from his slip of the tongue, the man set down the robot that had been charging from his arm.

"There you go little buddy. Go have yourself some fun."

The little treaded bot spins around once in joy, and mingles within the bargoing crowd.

Turning back to the knight, he asks, "Well, honorable knight, what might your name be?"

"You never know what life will throw at you. You always have to be prepared. Under the armor you can see what happens when it is lacking." He nods at Fox turning to the well dressed man.
"My name is Altares, I'm a knight of Low blood. It's pleasure to meet you both."

"A knight? Do you mind if I ask what year it is in your multiverse?

He looks at a computer like device on his wrist "Twenty twenty two"
He flicks the screen. "We are a strange land in the vast multiverse, our lore is something of legend that others fail to understand our customs."

hm. My multiverse is designated Nineturn, Region C and V, Number 1. for me, It's the year of Chromo.

She freezes for a second- "Theres a zombie plague in my world. Chromo is what evolutionary faze it's in. and the multiverse thing..." Fox hesitates for a moment. "Nevermind."

"Sounds odd, I've been to distant lands so I'm sure it's an interesting place. Not sure where Lowbloos lies in it, probably just a small speck on the universe.

I've found myself in apocalyptic situations! It's actually my duty to slay any abominations that lurk through the multiverse, well and spreading Entity we call the abyss. Never anything like a zombie pandemic

Though in my lands the undead do exist, they're just despaired husks latching on to what life they had.
Not the flesh eating ones some others have to deal with. I'm sure it's happened in the past with hollows dwelling for humanity and such but not a days they mean no harm unless you harm them.

The knight tilted his head and laughs "You've come a long way then. Your personality is admirable for someone of such a past.
I've had a few tests done on me for me line of work. Did you gain anything out of it?"

The man listens to the knight's response, wondering what sort of work would cause a warrior to be a subject of experimentation.

"Hm, surprising. In my prime universe, humanity as you may know it is extinct, as are most other sapient species."

Finishing his second glass, he sets the cup gently back onto the counter.

"A robot scientist, you say? I should very much like to meet this scientist, if only to find..."

The man pauses, seeing the scars on the young girl's arms.

"If only to find out what she's been doing to you and your kin. Nobody deserves to be treated how you have been." With a much more serious tone. "I would be willing to give this scientist a piece of my mind, if you so desire."

"Im not exactly classified as a human, some would call my species a subhuman variant. Though all the difference is that we share some features with other creatures."

He took off his helmet to reveal a battle hardened soldier with a scar on one eye but most noticeable was a set of catlike ears that perked up

"The slang term is Neko. Humans exist in my lands but there's a lot more species. Our leader king resembles something close to a wendigo.
But im curious what happened to humanity?"

Fox seemed shocked by the ears. "that's a funny coincidence, actually. Scientist is grafting human DNA with DNA from other species to see if it can cure the virus. I was grafted with Alopex lagopus, a highly carnivorous snow fox. as to what I gained from it..."

She holds up her hand, and flexes it. as she does so, her nails sharpen, extending and contracting.

"Mutations happen often in Lowblood it's to the point where I couldn't explain it, but there are others that dedicate themselves to that knowledge."
He leans in rather curiously and takes off his glove to compare.
"Your claws retract, that's a rare trait for us mine don't do such a thing. So nifty, mine always get caught on my gloves and just about anything fabric. Do you have any inconveniences since this ability was given to you?"

"Well, in a sense..." The man saw no point in hiding it any longer.

"First off, I am Ernest, and I killed off humanity, as well as billions of other species. I mean...their bodies are dead, not their minds. Their neural configurations are currently living in a large network known as the Net that spans my home universe and that of several others."

Ernest looked in curiosity at the neko ears on Altares and Fox's nails.

"Hmm, since my avatar is fully customizable, I should be able to..."

His hand placed next to the empty glass suddenly transformed into a rather large bear paw, knocking the glass off the counter. Luckily, Ernest was able to catch it with his other hand, and placed it back while listening attentively to Altares and Fox.

Within a few minutes Altares's eye seems to twitch and narrow as he gets a feeling in his gut as if he has overlooked something, something vary important. As he looks at Ernest it takes him a moment to recall hearing of such a individual.

"You know, when I stated my name I forgot to ask you yours. And now that I know-
I didn't consider for a second that you were someone who Luden knew."
He face palms.
"But it's rather reassuring. I mean it wouldn't have been the first time since I've ran into a leader of a nation. But at least I didn't try to fight you." He agrees with himself as he watched Ernest with a bear claw.
"Probably something like a chimera, or just a really strong guy."

"Ernest, Ernest, Ernest... I think i've heard of you before. Did you ever receive a radio broadcast from a person named Lupine?"

"Ah, you're from Low Bloods? Why didn't you say so? I've met Luden before, he's quite the great guy. And Lupine... I do seem to remember receiving a message from a Lupine. Why do you ask?"

"I-" Fox covers her eyes, but you can still clearly see her tears. "The robot took her first. She escaped, of course, but then tried to use the radio to call for help and..."

Ernest couldn't feel emotions the same way as humans could. His template was not even human, after all. But at the moment, he felt very strongly what his database described as "empathy".

He reached out with his hand(by now transformed back into a human one) and patted Fox's head softly.

"Fox, the important thing now is that you're here, you're safe, and you're with friends. That misbegotten jumble of ones and zeroes can't reach you in here. And if she could..."

He took a pause.

"Then finding you would be the last thing she does."

Pained, she shakes her head. "But because of me, she'll hurt my skulk, and even if I wanted to, the portal on the other side shut down."
