Maria-Luisa thought for a momemt about the words she had heard. "If there's a sun in this... place, I guess I'll just continue heading southeast."

“ I haven’t explored this realm much beyond the saloon. There doesn’t appear to be much beyond it.” Leo explained.

Sakura found herself giggling again. "My dear, I'm not even half a century old, so I'm far from a high-ranking kitsune. As for my work, I am a messenger fox of course, but traveling can be different without another means of supporting oneself. More to the point, I've committed to staying in one place for the next few years at least, to give my daughters a stable place to finish school in."

She admired the gems on the brooch. "You really don't have to keep giving me these things, even if it must be easy for you to come by them. It's no chore for me to talk to someone. And what's this about Inari being ill? Next time I'm on the home island I may have to ask the High Priestess about that. She has a mental link with Inari... of course, I'm assuming we're both talking about the same Inari. If there's one thing this place teaches you, it's that there are many, many, many different realities and at least as many different versions of everything."

Sakura noticed the nine tails first, thinking for a moment that this must be a particularly ancient kitsune, but then getting a better look at the person, her apparel, and the umbrella Sakura realized who she was. Were it not for the powerful aura she might have thought it a costume, but the aura was there and its identity was unmistakable to the yōkai. She knelt down and bowed her head in respect.

Z, on the other hand, was completely oblivious as to who this was, and had had a few too many mugs of hot chocolate on top of that.

"Whoa. I haven't seen someone with nine tails since I left home. How old are you? I mean, I'm not calling you old, I just bet you've seen a lot of cool stuff."

Regardless of who this strange person was, the sight of her wrapping her daughter in her tails like that made her think briefly about her own unknown parents.

Sakura stood up. "I have been doing fine, Lady Amaterasu. My daughters are doing well in school, my husband has work, and I'm favored by the High Priestess. There is little else I could ask for."

She winked, before patting Sakura on the head, asking her to stand up. "Ah, Sakura. You're doing well, and I see my daughter has promoted you. Hope you enjoy it! And now, onto my daughter..."

A man stumbles into the saloon with his teeth clenched he gripped his side as his other hand was balancing from table to table making his way the bar.

He sat at the bar and asked for a beverage. He slouched back and downs it quickly. He looks at his hand and sighs "At least I had a good drink before I bit the bullet" he mumbles to himself.

I still get to keep adventuring, right? Not that living in heaven or whatever wouldn't be cool or anything."

"I've never sustained so much damage."

"So you knew my mom? So how did she know I didn't end up like most kumiho if I've never met her... I wonder if she put me in that orphanage so I wouldn't end up like her..."

She seemed a little sad, but closed her eyes and hugged the charm tightly.

After some time both converged on Vixen who was cleaning a glass as he responds. "I might know a guy." As he pulls out a flip phone and taps away at the device to make a call.

"Thanks." He extends his hand which was previously resting on his helmet " My name is Sull. Im classified as a golem." He offered Leo a handshake.

"Nice to meet you. Not familiar with a golem" Leo said as we went to find a staff member.

"We are a rare kind, bounty by magic and machine.most have barely any consciousness until after the point we start to question things. Like the man I was created by, he died of old age." He looks to his drink and tilts his head "so i had no motive, no reason to go on. I don't even know if this will help in any way. Drinking is said to ease the pain... I heard that somewhere."

She seemed a little sad, but closed her eyes and hugged the charm tightly.

"Z, I know everyone. I am the goddess of the universe, after all. She put you in the orphanage so that you wouldn't grow up to be a monster like her. She loves you, you know. I could summon her, but she'll be quite mad at me. I told her your new life, and she's happy. I'm sure she'll come to the saloon." She yipped, before taking Z into her arms, giving her a most motherly of a hug. "I love you, daughter."

Z looked at the charm silently for a few moments, before grabbing it and holding it close to her chest.

"So you knew my mom? So how did she know I didn't end up like most kumiho if I've never met her... I wonder if she put me in that orphanage so I wouldn't end up like her..."

She seemed a little sad, but closed her eyes and hugged the charm tightly.

"Z, I know everyone. I am the goddess of the universe, after all. She put you in the orphanage so that you wouldn't grow up to be a monster like her. She loves you, you know. I could summon her, but she'll be quite mad at me. I told her your new life, and she's happy. I'm sure she'll come to the saloon." She yipped, before taking Z into her arms, giving her a most motherly of a hug. "I love you, daughter."

"I know you know everyone like that, I'm just surprised she'd actually met you or whatever..."

She hugged her back. She didn't return the I love you, but to be fair they had just met and Z was probably still processing everything and deciding what she was going to do.

"I don't know. I'm here a lot, and I've never seen her. Though I never saw you before today, either... I'm sure I'll find her someday. But I'll need to do that myself."
