*SC's Historian takes a cup of bourbon in a vault*
''(Fact is about one of possible SC's future scenarios) Japanese-Canadian War (Sometimes also called as the War of Northwest) was a military conflict between the Ring of Fire, and Canadian Commowealth, beginning in 2172, and lasting until 2176 as an escalation of tensions, which were rising in previous decades - running out of natural resources, frequent revolts, regional governor infighting, and region dreams of becoming fully independent. Despite the name of the conflict, SC's America, under the leadership of Supercomputer Tom, also participated in the war on Canadian Commonwealth's side, while some other regions sent volunteers, and resources to one of the sides. It was also one of the Tom's last attempts at keeping SC together, and one of the preludes to the end - SC's ultimate collapse. (The first thing, that rang the bell, was Nevada border war between Pacifica, and Rockies, which showed, how deep tension runs between various regional governors, even in SC's heartlands.) (Japanese-Canadian war is somewhat of a parallel to Sino-American war from Fallout, but there are also major differences - for example, in SC's timeline, Japan invaded Alaska for resources, not China, although SC's China sent volunteers to Ring of Fire as an aid. Also, Alaska is owned by SC's Canada in SC's timeline, so most of the warfare took place in Canada, not US. https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Sino-American_War
'' Background:''During the second half of 22nd century, many see the writing on the wall for Tom's order - fossil fuels were starting to run out (Although more advanced states had mostly switched to renewable energy, lesser developed SC's regions still needed fossil fuels extensively), and internal jingoism between regions grew stronger, as Tom's propagated ''international nationalist cooperation'' was overshadowed by voices of irredentism, and glory seeking for their own region, as well as wishes to become fully independent from SC. The President-Governor, amd Shogun of Ring of Fire wanted not only to secure Japan's, and other Ring of Fire's region positions, and establish a Pacific Ocean empire, but to also grab Alaska's natural resources, and to distract his citizens from situation back at home, as life in Ring of Fire before invasion in Alaska wasn't good in the last years - region had undergone many famine periods, due of inept distribution of food supply by regional governments, and in combination with lack of fuel, public transport usage was reduced, angering the populace in result, as public transport was one of the main means of movement - many switched to bicycles afterwards, as "at least they required 0 liters of fuel". President-Governor (Shogun) of Southern Islands (Japan, but without Hokkaido) hoped to increase his popularity with national zeal, but to do so, he needed to do something big, so he decided to do something never done before - launch a full scale invasion on an another SC's member. Ainu advisors from Northern Isles region advised against such military action, but he still went ahead with the plan. (Last Japanese emperor "disappeared" in late 40s (20th century) during RNGOC's, and Russian Empire's occupation of Japan, so a President-Governor with secondary title of Shogun was put in power by Tom instead when SC arrived, as it seemed more acceptable for his jacobin stances.)''
'' Prelude:''A full scale naval invasion from Japan was deemed as ''too costly, and resource taking'' by military advisors, so Shogun instead decided to strike from somewhere closer - Kamchatka peninsula, as Alaska was right across the Bering strait, unlike with Japan, from which it would be a pretty long trip. At first, Ring of Fire planned to start offensive at winter, in order to utilize the thick sea ice, and use surprise effect by attacking from land, as Northwest's (Cascadia's) military intelligence expected a naval invasion. However, plan was eventually abandoned, due of the fact, that since Earth was starting to warm up in SC's timeline as well, there would be no guarantees about thickness of sea ice. Also, trying to invade during harsh Alaskan winter, in combination of excellent terrain for defense, would result in a disaster. So, a naval invasion across Bering Strait was set in motion instead. That said, preparations still took years, as plan was drafted in 2170, but invasion started only in 2172, as Ring of Fire's navy, and air force was first needed to be transported to Arctic, but regional units - trained for warfare on foreign land, as some of them are focused more on defense. Also, communication issues needed to be solved at first, as while English was an essential skill in SC overall, and in understanding commander orders, not all soldiers spoke, or understood English well, and asides from English, most of them only knew their mother tongue, as there were few of those, who learned an another language.''
'' Detailed Timeline:
2172
- June 15, 3:00: Ring of Fire declares war to Northwest, but not all of Canadian Commonwealth, in hopes of using the few hour handicap. Afterwards, almost instantly an invasion from Ring of Fire starts, with soldiers being stationed in positions weeks before attack. With aid from Japanese navy, and Siberian tribal forces, Ring of Fire manages to seize some islands, and small parts of northern Alaska with the handicap.
- 8:00 All of Canadian Commonwealth's regions officially declare war to Ring of Fire, and start mobilization of their populace, and deployment of their regional armies. Although situation is not critical, it is still problematic, and first troops, which arrive from Prairies, and Greater North, are often ill-equipped.
- July 6: Koryak, and Ainu divisions take Prudhoe Bay after a long siege, and seize its oil resources, and advance further in Northern Slope. Meanwhile, in the southern parts, Ring of Fire's divisions mostly advance through coastal line, with navy dropping of marines as far east as Yakutat, but soldiers avoid further major campaigns inland, with exception of Denali offensive.
- July 20: Battle of Koyuk: although Japanese forces manage to defeat Canadian divisions there, further advance inland is still not plausible, and northern army is still separated from central, and southern army. Meanwhile, Korean, and Japanese divisions fail to advance to Anchorage through land, due of mountains blocking the way.
- August 16: Ring of Fire's united naval forces attempt the first assault at Anchorage, but fail to take the city. Advance through Yukon delta is also a big slog, and Ring of Fire's troops manage to repel attacks across the delta only with high casualties. Meanwhile, Siberian troops capture Utqiagvik, and strengthen their positions in Northern Slope by bringing reinforcements from Bering strait.
- September 2: Ring of Fire brings its first power armor units to Alaska, in hopes of finishing the campaign as fast as possible, and experience major gains during first weeks, but due of Alaska's terrain, and increasing amount of Canadian troops in there, warfare inevitably slows down. In north, soldiers try to connect Alaskan natural resources with Ring of Fire's core territories, in hopes to fuel regions for further war effort.
- November 3- November 21: First major Canadian counter-offensive takes place, and during 18 days, Canadian troops manage to push out Ring of Fire's divisions from Denali national park all the way to Point MacKenzie, as war in the south starts to enter more defensive phase. In the west, however, Manchurian units start an another offensive, capturing Noorvik, in hopes of uniting northern, and western armies together.
- December 7: Ring of Fire starts to transport war material, and soldiers over the sea ice, which is thick enough to hold medium vehicles. Despite Kamchatka being closer to Alaska than mainland Japan, mobile supply depots still need to be set up on ice. During first winter, Japanese troops get enough supply to unite northern, and central army groups, but similar campaigns to unite the southern army as well fail, as in Alaskan winter, war becomes harder to wage.
2173- January 13: An emergency meeting is called by Tom in UCN's HQ in New York, to discuss the conflict, and Canadian representative asks for support in conflict against Ring of Fire. While some regions remain neutral on the conflict, some support the Shogun, but some also support SC's Canada in conflict. That said, no one is ready to fully participate in the conflict yet, as SC is pretty much disintegrating at this point, and regions don't fully follow Tom's orders. Still, SC's China sends volunteers as an aid to Alaska for Ring of Fire.
- January 29 - February 25: Operation ''Tsunami'' is launched by the central army group, in hopes to advance deeper into mainland from Seward peninsula. Due of increasing resistance, harsher terrain, and overstretching of supply lines, Operation Tsunami fails as well, and Canadian counterattack soon follows, resulting in splitting off Seward peninsula, along with central army group, from northern army. Central army units remaining in the north merge with the northern army.
- March 24: Ainu divisions from the north start offensive along Dalton highway, in order to reach Fairbanks, and Japanese divisions start offensive from south as well, to cut Alaska into two. Although successful at first, soon offensive gets bogged down, due of lack of supply depots, and settlements across the road - some tanks run out of fuel. Also, increasing resistance from defenders, and hostile terrain slows it down even more as well.
- April 22: Japanese, and Korean united fleet assaults Anchorage once again, this time equipped with the cyberdogs as well - some of them were captured by Ring of Fire after seizing some of the military bases in Alaska. This time, Ring of Fire's soldiers manage to capture Anchorage, and link up with the western armies, but only barely. However, afterwards, Cascadia also starts to use cyberdogs in battle more often as well, and Canadians deploy more men in front as well - total amount of solders in Alaska reaches close to 1 million.
- May 30: Aykhan, and RBHU-3 - robot leaders of Siberia, send newest generation robots as volunteers to Alaskan front, in order to help Ring of Fire. Although never fully entering the war, SC's Siberia would covertly supply Ring of Fire with much-needed resources, and robotic volunteers for further campaigns. Southern army uses the robots in an attempt to march west, and unite with the western army, which is cut off in Seward peninsula.
- July 16: All of SC's American Megastate leaders finally vote for intervention in Japanese-Canadian war on Canada's side. Although Tom has always wanted to intervene in the Japanese-Canadian War, regional governor intrigues, political disunity, cautious military leaders, and lack of support from other regions have prevented SC's America from intervening. Later on, SC's Central America's leaders vote to send volunteers to Alaskan front as well, but it never fully enters the conflict, due of concerns of anti-Tomist sympathies within its military.
- July 25: After declaration of war by Supercomputer Tom, and 8 other America's regional governors, Ring of Fire starts the Sitka offensive, and attempts to invade former British Columbia, as it feels like, that its time is running short, and sees it as a last chance to secure more ground, before full might of Tom's army arrives. Japanese troops besiege Juneau, while Chinese volunteer units take some of the southeast Alaskan islands. Later on, Ring of Fire's jets bomb Vancouver - the capital of Cascadia, and Seattle. However, the offensive exhausts most of its aggression power.
- August 10: Snipers from Quebec with newest generation anti-materiel riffles, and Eastern Columbia's power armor divisions arrive at Fairbanks, in order to stop Ring of Fire's plans of pincer movement for the city. During this time, Dalton Highway offensive has mostly stopped, due of lack of necessary supply depots, and exhaustion, so Canadian, and American units reverse all Ring of Fire's gains during the last year in mere days, making it retreat all the way to Prudhoe Bay. Dalton Highway offensive is officially declared as ''failure''.
- September 16: Battle of Unalakleet: By using robots sent by Siberia, Ring of Fire has managed to come dangerously close to uniting the cut-off central army with southern army, so Canadian power armor divisions face the advancing forces at town of Unalakleet. Although Ring of Fire wins the battle, it has cost so much resources, and robots, that it could be also called a Pyrrhic victory. Still, during the offensive, it has captured large parts of the Southwest Alaska.
- November 2: Pacifica's Scientists in their experiments produce a counter against Siberian robots - ''hardened'' EMP grenade, which fries the circuits of many of them, and renders them into unusable parts of scrap metal. Despite its limited range, it still inflicts heavy casualties for Siberian robot volunteers, and allows Cascadian troops to start a counteroffensive, pushing Japanese, and Chukchi armies at Bethel near Kuskokwim river.
2174- January 1: Canadian, and American troops overrun the trapped central army in Seward peninsula after the battle of Nome in western Alaska. It captures way fewer prisoners of war, due of most of soldiers fighting to death. Those, who weren't captured, or killed, are sent either to north, to assist the northern army, or evacuated to Kamchatka, in preparations for a possible naval attack from Cascadian navy.
- February 14: Japanese siege on Juneau is lifted, and Ring of Fire's troops in the area soon surrender, after realizing, that they now are the ones encircled. In the following days, the remaining Ring of Fire's troops in Southeast Alaskan islands are cleared out by power armor divisions, rendering the Sitka offensive by Japanese, and Korean fleets useless.
- March 4: Kamchatka region intensifies the naval patrols in Bering strait, after a sea battle near Diomede islands between united Cascadian, and American navy, and Kamchatkan regional fleet, along with Japanese warships. Although Ring of Fire wins this naval skirmish, it still losses a significant part of its Arctic fleet during this skirmish. SC's Canada, and SC's America don't engage in major naval clashes in Bering strait anymore during the rest of the war.
- April 8: SC's American, and Canadian troops start an attack along the northwest Alaskan coastline, and recapture Utqiagvik in the end, while encountering little to no resistance from northern army, as most of its soldiers are further east, in order to defend the oil fields there. Although Ainu, and Siberian tribal divisions manage to repulse attack on Prudhoe Bay, situation becomes critical, as due of loss of Utqiagvik port, Ring of Fire's navy needs to travel longer distances to supply them, and Cascadian submarines start to patrol Alaskan shores more often.
- June 10: An upgraded variant of the old stealth suits from RNGOC gets deployed in Alaska, which is used for sneak attacks on small Cascadian army groups, and spying operations. Eastern Columbia's scientists soon respond with better movement sensors, which can detect even a small movement through mountainous passes, or forests. Although stealth attacks from Japanese troops still are dangerous, they are also harder to pull off.
- July 15: Leaders of Commonwealth of China, and Commonwealth of Siberia order to recall their volunteers from Alaska back to home, due of the increasing casualties in the front, and war being basically lost by at this point, as while SC's Canada, and Megastates can replace their losses, Ring of Fire starts to have problems with replacing the destroyed equipment, and experiences manpower shortages. Despite that, a few Siberian robots, and Chinese volunteers refuse to return, and continue to fight in Alaska.
- August 14 - September 6: During the Northern Slope offensive, Inuit troops retake Prudhoe Bay, and its remaining oil reserves. Before retreating, some officers considered to burn down the oil wells of Prudhoe Bay, in order to leave advancing Canadian Inuit troops ''as little oil as possible for their tanks''. However, in the end, plan was cancelled. After Northern Slope offensive, and losing most of the supplies, northern army suffers from high attrition. Trapped Japanese garrison in Kaktovik surrenders soon after.
- December 20: Morale of the Ring of Fire's northern army is at breaking point, as its losing more territory with every day, and Northern Ocean's water has frozen into ice, and northern army can receive supplies only through the sea ice, due of having most of its air force pinned down in airfields. During the Battle of Umiat, the last General of Army for northern army is killed, and most of the remaining northern army's soldiers either surrender, or commit suicide. (That said, some create small groups, which continue to harass northern Alaska until the end of the war. Also, some actually manage to escape to Kamchatka through Beaufort, and Chukchi sea ice.)
2175- January 13 - January 29: Operation ''Angry Beaver'' begins in Southern Alaska, with goal of cutting off Ring of Fire's armies in Anchorage from supply from land. As in the skies, Canadian, and American air force has a decisive air superiority, and most of Ring of Fire's air force in Alaska has been destroyed in previous few years supplying forces from the sea is the only viable option for Ring of Fire anymore. Although Anchorage remains in hands of Ring of Fire, Cascadian troops manage to reach the outskirts of it.
- February 5: An attempt of sabotage at the research facility of Keewatin Town (A closed city, which, despite the name, is actually located in former Yukon's territory, and which is tasked with research of various weapons. Its exact location is unknown for most of SC's populace, even for SC's Canadians, as it isn't shown in any official map) gets prevented by special ops. Still, the attempt itself raises a lot of alarm bells not only within the Cascadian government, but even in Tom's government, as it shows, that Ring of Fire's intelligence agencies not only had information about the exact location of the closed city, but were able to send in agents with stealth suits as well.
- March 10: A new variant of APU mechas is developed by the scientists of Great Lakes Institute - they are about the same size as a normal human, as taller mechas in polygon tests proved to be more vulnerable towards shots in legs, and without them, mecha is all but a wreck. Its armor is as light as possible, in order to increase movement speed, as heavier mecha would be a perfect target for snipers, and it also has flying capabilities on a limited scale. New mechas are used during Operation ''Aurora'' in Southwest where they tear through soldier lines like a knife through butter, and push them all the way to Naknek.
- April 17: In one of the last UCN meetings in New York, governors of European Federation, and Australasian confederation condemn Ring of Fire for ''its acts of aggression'' in Alaska, but don't support either side militarily in the conflict. Tom accuses Aykhan, and Siberian Commonwealth of ''secretly supplying Ring of Fire with resources like oil, steel, gas, and diamonds'', but Aykhan denies those accusations. Tom considers deploying UCN peacekeepers, and observers in Siberian Commonwealth, but then rethinks, as such decision would most likely be vetoed by most of SC's governors.
- May 9: Despite the press censorship from Ring of Fire's military, and news network, news about massive failures in the Alaskan front still arrive from the other side of Bering strait, and result in massive riots in Japan, Kamchatka, Korea, and Manchuria, and decrease of support for the war from the populace, along with decrease of natural resources, regional governors blaming each other for military failures, and tanking economy. So, Ring of Fire's military leadership for the first time during war offers to surrender. However, first peace talks soon break down, due of vast hostility between the opposing sides, and war continues.
- August 13: After seeing, that all chances to win the war have been lost, Shogun, and other 5 governors (Ainu, Even, Manchurian, Korean, Evenk) order Japanese, and Manchurian jets from captured Sitka airfield launch air raids against Canadian oil, and gas pipelines, inflicting monetary, and resource loss to the Northwest. It is often considered as one of the last major successful operations of Ring of Fire's military.
- September 5: Cascadian army splits southern army group into three pockets - first pocket in Kenai Peninsula, second, and most important pocket in Anchorage, and its surrounding territories, and with third pocket in Valdez, and coastline near Chugach national forest. Tom broadcasts a message in Alaskan radio, that ''Liberation of Anchorage is close!'', and various from the newer APU mechas get deployed in Anchorage from the southwestern front.
- October 18: Pacifica's stealth bombers, aided by Cascadian jets, bomb the city of Anadyr. which is a capital of Kamchatka - one of Ring of Fire's regions, and an air base located in Kamchatka. During the raid, all of planes in the air base get decimated, and personnel - killed, and air base itself gets destroyed almost completely. Some of Megastate governors consider plans of dropping a nuclear weapon on Tokyo, but those plans get cancelled in the end. Later on, Cascadian infiltrators manage to blow up a part of Yokohama's port docks with sticky explosives.
- November 22: SC's Canadian, and American troops start a new assault towards Anchorage from the outskirts of the city. Although they don't capture all of it, they manage to capture about half of the city, while other half is still at Ring of Fire's control. It is a big boost for Cascadian morale, but bloody street battles would soon begin, as Ring of Fire's soldiers start making barricades in their parts of city. Meanwhile, Japanese soldiers stationed in Anchorage, and other parts of southcentral Alaska, start to suffer from hunger, due of lack of supply. They try to re-connect their pocket with armies in southwest Alaska multiple times, with no success.
- December 11- December 17: More air raids launched against Ring of Fire's ports, and air bases, in order to prevent ships from supplying soldiers in Alaska, and jets - from taking off. During the air raids, Jets from Ontario region also sink one of the few aircraft carrier ships of Ring of Fire, after it tried to assist the units in Alaska with jets on its runway. Although it never got confirmed by SC's remaining authorities, some of the ship crew survivor records say, that ''napalm bombs were used not only for airfields, and resource depots, but against battleships as well''.
2176- January 23 - February 9: Offensive in seemingly inactive Southwest front restarts again, with Canadian, and American combined troops retaking Kodiak Island, and Aleutian Peninsula with little resistance. After that, last remaining divisions retreat to the Attu island, and the supply problems of the cut-off divisions in the South-central front worsen.
- March 3: After long, and bloody street battles, Northwest (Cascadian) divisions finally retake Anchorage, serving as a massive boost to Canadian morale. Afterwards, most of the trapped Japanese, and Korean divisions become weak, and disorganized, and Eastern Columbian power armor units start to clear up the last pocket of Ring of Fire's troops. After capturing Anchorage, Central America recalls most of its volunteer units, as their leaders think, that ''Cascadia can handle the rest on its own''.
- March 19: Last Ring of Fire's 400 men batallion surrenders near Chugach National Forest. Cascadia's President-Governor officially declares Alaska as ''liberated'', although Ring of Fire still has presence in Aleutian islands. From the original invasion force in Alaska, almost all of units have either been destroyed, surrendered, or fled to Kamchatka, in preparations for a further Tom's counter-strike.
- March 25, 7:00: SC's Canadian, and American troops start Aleut island hopping campaign. With only one garrison, and division left at Attu islands, Ring of Fire has lost most of capabilities to put an organised resistance, and most of islands fall within hours.
- 18:00: Shogun, and other 5 governors of Ring of Fire call for ceasefire, and peace treaty. Due of tension brewing at homefront, and increasing regional governor infighting, Tom accepts, and soon diplomats meet in Anchorage for talks.
- March 26, 10:00: Treaty of Anchorage is signed, ending the Japanese-Canadian War. Last remaining units in Aleut islands are evacuated to Kamchatka, and while no major land change happens, Ring of Fire is forced to pay for the damage inflicted to Northwest (Cascadia) during the war.
'' Aftermath: ''Both sides suffered heavily during the war - for an example, Northwest (Cascadia) was hurt the worst by the war, as it was the main front during the entire conflict, and after the war had ended, it had lost most of its military power, and its army was essentially crippled - it required effort from other Canadian states to repair the military of Northwest. Also, while Ring of Fire was still forced to pay for damages in the end in order to help the reconstruction process, lots of oil, and natural gas still went to waste, when Ring of Fire's jets bombed the oil, and gas pipelines, spilling out the valuable resources on ground, which meant, that last remaining natural resources were draining out faster than ever. In fact, years later, so called ''resource riots'' started - at first only in Northwest, but later on - in entire Canadian Commonwealth, and even parts of US Megastates, due of running out of the already limited natural resources. Not all of parts of SC had switched to renewable energy, so there were regions, which were hurt more by lack of fossil fuels.''
''However, Ring of Fire also suffered heavily from the war - not only it didn't get the access to one of the last remaining natural resource deposits in Alaska, but it also drained a lot of its own remaining resources during the war, thus leaving its economy ruined. Also, due of combination of bad weather, harsh terrain, army mismanagement, and lack of supplies, Ring of Fire lost a lot of men as well, and also experienced the humiliation of the loss in war. After the war, regional governors searched for scapegoats for failure not only in their own region, but between each other as well, which tore the already unstable system, as many riots, and revolts against SC's imposed system started across the Ring of Fire. Most serious of them was the Okvik revolt (Named after an ancient Inuit culture in Chukotka), which originally started as Siberian Yupik revolt against forced assimilation by the Shogun, but when Koryak, and Chukchi revolutionaries joined them, along with underground opposition, revolt became too big for regional troops to handle alone - Shogun had to send the central government's troops in, to secure the last few remaining oil and gas reserves for Ring of Fire. Overall, Ring of Fire disintegrated way faster than SC's America, and SC's Canada, as the latter were a bit more stable.

Alpes is currently trying to take down a colonial revolution. Because of it trying to extend its control over its colonies and integrate them as departments and provinces of the empire. But this also made the colonies loss all autonomy, all regional laws, and the will of the emperor being enforced by his secret police. So many of the major citizens and aristocrats either tried to organize a council to communicate with the emperor and parliament. They were unable to get a council with the emperor or parliament but did get permission to form a congress and create a plan to decide the future of the colonies to be approved by the emperor and parliament. They tried but realized that no matter what they suggested wouldn't be approved. So in all their wisdom, they decided to declare an independent kingdom separate from Alpes. They are now currently trying to win the revolutionary war and draft a constitution for the current Commonwealth of Nova Alpes and France

King George III of the House of Hohenzollern met his future wife, Princess Eva of North Rhine-Westphalia, in 1969 and 1984. They are third cousins once removed through Prince Louis Ferdinand. Their first meeting occurred during Eva's first birthday in 1969 when his family attended the occasion - he was 10 years old and had no feelings towards her at the time.
However, by their second encounter in 1984 they began to exchange letters and, reportedly, fell in love in the summer of 1985. They were eventually married in 1988 when George was 30 and Eva was 20. The next year, Eva gave birth to their first son, Cooper.

Second, it kinda does serve that societal adhesive purpose, because it allows both religion and science to coexist peacefully, because Jesus of Nazareth was proven to exist. It is quite simply put the only way to have technical irreligion as a church.Nu-Cascadia wrote:A clever side-step, and ultimately safe from schism. It seems unnecessary at that point, but perhaps it exists as a societal adhesive. Hm.

The Cascadian domestic agricultural industry is entirely hydroponically grown in large, AI-tended vertical farms. Meat is regarded as a luxury, to be specially ordered from exclusive vendors.
