How bad for them, and how good for their vassals striding for independence. Maybe they should have culled their numbers as routine sacrifices.

We genetically engineered the "nekomimi" who are the ancestors of the ones in Las Palmeras because we wanted our cannon fodder and shock troops to have natural nocturnal vision and motion sensing, cheapening the cost of having to manufacture that kind of equipment and sparing us the logistical woes of maintaining said supplies. That and because it went along perfectly with our Army's preferred nocturnal shock, swarming and infiltration tactics.

611 people in the CSA own at least one tank. 22 own at least one warship. On the other hand, these people are so rich they really have no use for them other than glorified conversation starters or citizen militia work, generally filling out letters of marque or bounties.

That sounds pretty fun. Get an owner to roll one of those in a local neighborhood and watch all the kids run outside to look at it.

We're blind. Like, all of us.

We can still see light and stuff, though. So to display screens, holograms, and other visualizations, they are projected in extremely bright, high-contrasting colors (usually black and white) so that they can be somewhat perceivable. High-frequency sounds in place of devices work, too. It gave us a unique aesthetic—bright, contrasting black and white dials, buttons, computer screens, et cetera.

The bright lights and piercing sounds cause many alien species to avoid our technology. A Faceless hover-convertible will usually sting both the eyes and ears of any non-Faceless driver.

One of our saucers crashed in the realm of that warlord and he held one of ours captive, but we secured the ensign's release by letting them keep the saucer in exchange for genetic material. That's an interesting first impression you made, and I assume Truman is referred to as a "warlord" because of the holding captive of one of your own, correct?

The Administrator considered reducing the corvee from 30 hours a week to 20 - 25 hours believing that Terrans are more likely to innovate/discover/optimize for the good of the Technocracy if they focus more on what they're good at instead of meeting the weekly work requirement. Since the Technocracy is a post-scarcity society that monitors its demographics for efficiency in population, the idea of working for something other than having a meaning in life is inhumane if beyond 20 - 25 hours. Giving people more time to hang out with colleagues at coffee shops, programmers or scientists toying around with culinary arts, or chefs doing side projects in rocketry has a higher potential to optimize society via discovery/productivity.

It could potentially bring forth an intelligence boom or a new renaissance if the curious or artistic minded have more time to do what they like. It's currently being tested on Mars, a somewhat terraformed planet that resembles the terrain of North Africa given current technology being unable to do more than launching nukes at ice caps and then building domed cities with underground metros and farms to connect residents. So far, it has seen productivity increase but no signs of technological or artistic innovations; Sociologists argued that Mars has only been inhabited for 187 years, Terran society didn't fully develop yet in an unnatural planet compared to Earth-like planets in other star systems ripe for colonization, and thus not a logical ground for conclusion. Testing in the far away planet of Santhang, 9 light years from Earth, and is named after the Chemist San Thang, is under way. Santhang is a unique planet where one side is a dense, humid tropical climate where water flow as freely as the thick air whose habitability is challenged due to it. *Yes, citizens basically wait at worst 10 minutes for a very short, fast ride between the habitable zones of the planet. Just get in, sit/stand for at most 10-15 minutes, get out when you're at destination.

I agree with this idea. Being stressed constantly of meeting the quota of work can leave one with less ideas overall (If that is what your fact refers).

Inkopolitia did have a Civil War like the United States', and it was even because of similar issues. You see, after Inkling society conquered Peru after Peru tried to annex Inkopolitia and genocide all Inklings (As stated in the intercepted letters of King Leopoldo I, King of Peru), Inklings began to make Humans slaves. This was first allowed by 5 of the 7 leaders of the confederate states. However, many years later, these leaders changed, and only 3 of them supported slavery.

Slavery was banned in Inkopolitia, which sparked a movement of rebellion of the Allied Inkling States which wanted to continue human slavery. 3 of the confederate states in Inkopolitia broke off of the union and formed their own state, the Allied Inkling States. They were defeated, the AIS was integrated back into the Confederacy of the Inklings, slavery was finally abolished, and all human slaves were freed.

Makes sense. Again, Argentinian navy wasn't at its best during the Falklands as well, and now is even weaker. (Not as weak as their air force, but still...) Army was fairly good, but best units were kept on the mainland, and conscripts were used for the war itself.

Whilst non-heterosexual marriage is legal throughout the country, religious entities are allowed to refuse to wed non-heterosexual individuals. It is a compromise with Catholic, Anglican and other religious groups.

That's still giving religion too much power, unless gay Catholics can still be legally married just without the cultural ceremonies.

Most land below sea levels are now underwater due to climate change. It was possible to prevent Sacramento, Berlin, Copenhagen, Venice, Maldives, Lagos, and such from being underwater, but the United Nations is bought out by wealthy interests that cares little for the next generation. If the course continues, humanity would've gone extinct. The Technocracy can only prevent extinction, they're unable to repair the environment back to its original form and thus, the climate of Earth is different in this universe. More land are peninsular, many became islands, and higher ocean levels radically changed the seasons.

Earth is also a lot warmer and sunnier. People see penguins today the way humans of the 21st century see Dodos.

The colonial exchange after the Great War was one of the least satisfying parts of the Treaties that finalized the defeat of the Entente. North Germany annexed Mozambique and Angola in a "friendly" invasion following the Portuguese Revolution during the Great War and just up and refused to return them when the war ended and the monarchy was restored. Libya was returned to Italy, having been remained a South German Colony for only 4 years, all of which in wartime. British Borneo was annexed by The Dutch Empire, while Germany annexed Singapore, Brunei, and Malaysia, forming the new Colony of East Asia, and the Japanese officially annexed the Visayas (which they had taken over during the first two years of the war, before changing sides following the Qing invasion). This was of course seen as a large affront to France (which had had plans of building a hegemony over the West African Coast), and Italy (which wanted to connect Libya and East Africa by taking Egypt), and may have been one of the many reasons why a second Great War happened in the next two decades.

Well another war is a chance to fix the mistakes made in the previous treaty I suppose.

Imperial special forces soldiers go through an intense 2 year training program. The end of the training is marked by a 100 mile march to be completed without rest.
19/20 recruits that sign up for training will not survive. Only a select few will move to the paper classes. This process ensures that only the very best become special forces.
All who pass both physical and on paper tests will meet the monarch of the time and be given an assignment of the monarchs' choice. For example, Empress Alicia I sent 11
men to wipe out an entire rebellion by targeting its leaders. The rebellion fell within 3 weeks.

I'd always put my money on a small, elite force rather than an overlarge, inefficient army in a technologically advanced sci-fi setting, but does your empire have access to technology that would let them create elite androids to fight for them? Or is that a taboo course of action in the Empire?

The monks at the necropolis in Old Munt historically spent their recreational time getting blind drunk from gin or absinthe and experimenting with drugs, particularly of the hallucinogenic variety, in an attempt to better communicate with the dead. The results of these endeavours are of dubious merit, though many reported that it was more effective than the usual method of meditation. In the modern era, there is a faction of monks who - along with their duties in the maintenance of the necropolis - commit to paranormal research and experimentation. Attempts to communicate coherently with the spirits of the deceased are still attempted by the monks to this day, though the scientific method is now applied to experiments.

Well, they are right to resort to science then. Back in Skyhooked, we consume lots of ganja, LSD, shrooms (that kind, that shows ya' cartoons) and booze, and so far no ancestor communicated with us.

Why our infantry is a godlike bunch of badasses, able to run through both snow and deadly heat, wearing mostly bandshirts with flak vests over them, shrugg off injuries and kill shit, adapt to nearly everything, perform guerrilla warfare, like they are natural predators while our tanks and artillery are well... average? That's historical thingy.

During the revolution against our oppressors, we didn't have tanks, aircraft and howitzers. Only desprate folks, hardened by shitty slave lives, armed with with sticks, stones, tools and shoddy makeshift firearms. We gained access to military harware much later, and there were not so many competent soldeirs and officers, willing to teach us, so we had to adapt.

But our infantry has also weaknesses. Those drunkards may be badass, but the discipline is... a subject for many comedies. Especially during the peace.

The Baleforians designed a super heavy tank similar to the Landkreuzer P. 1000 Ratte. Its main armament were two 12-inch guns in a twin mount, taken from a design used on a Baleforian battlecruiser class, and other armaments include a 5-inch gun and numerous 20 mm AA guns and .50 calibre machine guns. Its most notable features are the bunkers on the sides and rear. They built six of them, and one still survives to this day in the Imperial Museum of Military History.

The tanks actually served well in the 1106-1114 Lupo-Vespertian War, as mobile fortresses. They served surprisingly well, though not as well as smaller tanks.
