"Mr. President, I'd like to thank all the Senators that were able to put aside partisan differences and come together to ensure that the Senate remains the revered hall of decorous debate and restraint that it should be. And to my fellow Muslim Senators, to any Muslims in the galley, and to all Muslims here in Fernão and across the world, I hope that our actions here today have sent a clear message that this chamber will not stand for Islamophobia in any of its hateful forms, and, if necessary, we'll go as far as censure to take a stand against any public servant that dares attempt to espouse it."

"Thank you, Mr. President." Viel sat down, taking a sip from a glass of water.

"Mister President, education is by far the single most important investment we can make in the future of our nation and our children. It is vital that we organize our education rapidly and yet with care. There are several provisions within this bill which will make it a very difficult pill to swallow for many of us.

"There is simply no reason why when viable public options are being provided for the government to instead funnel money into private education institutions. If a parent decides to utilize a private educational option for their child, that is their right, but we only have so many resources and siphoning funds from public education in order to finance private education is simply wrong. There are many who will not be able to utilize the limited spots available in a private institution, and instead will find themselves in school with inadequate resources because the money has been instead spent on private education for a handful.

"As such, I move to strike 4.d.i in its entirety.

"Further, while many may find moral guidance or inspiration from religion, it remains not the governments place to encourage it. We are a free and plural society with many religions and many without religion. We cannot possibly have freedom of religion and conscience, as is guaranteed in our constitution, if the government is funding and encouraging religious education.

"As such, I move to strike 6.c.x in its entirety and substitute the words 'World Religions' for the text of 7.d.ix and the second 7.e.vi, which I assume is meant to be 7.e.vii"
