Please, plenty of people have "left" the Senate. We've never made people reapply and that's rules lawyering at its worst.

And Electrona is on the membership list, period. Unless you can make the case for invalidating that entire list I see no reason not to consider them a part of the roleplay. Are you seriously in favor of reducing the number of people in the Senate?

Judah, you're reading MV's post wrong. It said we could base voting eligibility based on RP activity, not that is what we're doing.

We know you hate NWO. When she returned to the RP, you tried to ban her for something that happened a year ago. Whatever personal grudges you hold, stop trying to make votes invalid so someone you dislike won't win.

You'll find if you go back that I have always looked at the presidential votes like this, and even had votes for my own chosen candidate disqualified because they weren't valid voters at the time. Just as I have every time, I went through to validate the votes. This has nothing to do with personal feelings, this is purely about making sure the rules are followed. Two people did not follow the rules, therefore their votes are invalid.

Lay off each other for a bit (looking at you, Roose). The admins are discussing this.

Let's start with Electrona's vote. At the time, we did lose the application thread and felt that while it wasn't a requirement to re-register, we asked so it would be easier to track people. That doesn't mean just because the application thread disappear means their vote is invalid. Activity has never been one to judge whether one can vote or not, only to help us determine whether they were actually members or not and never was a requirement. This, along with NWO and Roose's post (and as Mer said, lay off), are valid.

For Sarian's vote, that stands as well. While he did leave the RP, he didn't resign from the RP, which means he technically didn't "leave" but, that isn't the only reason. We have people that leave and come back constantly in this RP. If he were to resign from the application thread, sure, then his vote wouldn't count, but because he didn't, he is still a member of the RP.

As such, the admins have decided to count both votes given the circumstances that have occurred.

When will we be holding the second Round? If it is going to occur any time between Tuesday (July 18th) and Friday (July 21), I'm going to be unavailable while I'm at Baylor Line camp. If the vote takes place during that time, I'm going to go ahead and give Ainin the ability to cast a proxy vote to represent me. I believe that's how we handled this stuff right?

Yes, you can. This should help down here:

Maklohi Vai wrote:The 10 day election period begins now, details below.

The Constitution says a few things about elections.

Article 126 says the following:
Article CXXVI - Election of the President
The President shall be elected in a two round first-past-the-post system held over the course of ten days.
Each round of voting shall last three (3) days, with a two (2) day period in between the rounds, and a two (2) day period before the first round to allow for registration of presidential tickets.
Presidential tickets must register with the Electoral Commission prior to the first round of voting to be included on the ballot.
During the first round of voting, voters shall vote for one ticket, with the two tickets who receive the most votes advancing to the second round. Voters will again vote for one ticket, with the recipient of the most votes being elected President.
Senatorial elections during Presidential elections shall coincide with the first round of voting.
Voters may write in candidates.

We have the following schedule, starting right now.

July 12: Candidate registration opens. Register yourself by stating your candidacy in the Lobby, including whether you have the support of a party. You must state whether you have a running mate as well.
July 14: Candidate registration closes. First round of voting opens. There will be a separate thread for this.
July 17: First round of voting closes. Campaigning period begins.
July 19: Campaigning period ends. Second round of voting opens. There will be a new thread for this.
July 22: Second round of voting closes. We have a President.

Why is there write-in in the second round? That doesn't make sense.

Yes, it doesn't. I will fix that. So, as a friendly reminder to all of you, there are no write-ins for the second round so please, don't do that or else your vote be counted.

Tonight, beginning at 3:00am EST, there will be a FiveThirtyEight-style "live blog" of the election at fernaoliveblog.tumblr.com. I am still setting up the queue, so I don't know exactly how long it will last (probably till noon EST), but it will feature "coverage" as the results come in.

Like the elections before, you can feel free to ignore this coverage and its IC results. I'm going to wake up earlier than usual to queue a few more hours of posts, prepared beforehand, depending on how it looks like the election is going to conclude. So if you're in the right timezone, or if you want to wake up a few times throughout the night to read it, I welcome you to follow it and hope you enjoy the coverage.

Ah. Zurk and Merizoc are handling that, and they're coming to a decision shortly to coincide with the new administration. I'll let them post about that.
