Facing Adversity: 7th Aurentine Cabinet [NSG Senate, Open]

Postby Old Tyrannia » Tue Feb 04, 2014 11:40 am

The Seventh Government of Aurentina

Image

''MODERATE IN PROSPERITY, PRUDENT IN ADVERSITY''

It is a source of great pride that I, Otto Karl Ludwig Graf von Tyrannien, have the honour of forming the seventh government of the Commonwealth of Aurentina. Our nation has seen many difficulties in this first year of its existence as a sovereign state since the beginning of union with Great Britain; a union which, although a time of prosperity for our people, had come to the end of its life. Successive Aurentine governments have struggled with the monumental task of establishing an effective political, legal and economic system in Aurentina; bringing crime and terrorist activity under control; modernising obsolete infrastructure; reducing poverty and moving towards a more sustainable nation and world. I would not be so arrogant to say that the problems faced by the Commonwealth will be solved under my leadership and cabinet, but I am comfortable that we will continue to move forward, towards a safe, stable and inclusive society. The motto of my government shall be the words of the Corinthian Periander; "be moderate in prosperity- and prudent in adversity."

Well, what do we have here then? Obviously, I'll be following this thread and hopefully I'll be able to offer both criticism and co-operation. Actually, preferably I wouldn't be able to offer any criticism but no government's perfect and it's my job to pick up on what you're doing wrong - Hopefully in a cronstructive manner.

I should point out that the Shadow Minister of Infrastructure and Transport is Great Franconia and Verana, not Kam. He left the senate a couple of weeks ago.

I took the shadow cabinet from your post in the Senate Chamber, which is why it may not be up-to-date.

I hope we can have a cooperative and constructive relationship, despite the Progress Coalition's stubborn obstruction of my confirmation.

Of course we opposed you, we're the opposition. :p

Seriously, I don't always agree with you on politics. In fact, I rarely do. I'm a Libertarian Socialist, you're a High Tory. We're practically at opposite ends of the political spectrum, yet that doesn't mean we can't work together. Even if our opinions differ, we can search for the compromise and what we know to be right for Aurentina.

If I seem aggressive in criticism, I apologise now, but I will try and find every single mistake you make. Don't take that as a bad thing. Take those criticisms, consider them, and then that as an incentive - a stimulation to avoid those mistakes.

If one is granted gendarmerie protection, does the certain minister have authority over what they can do, in the framework of the law?

Yes, however if I notice someone doing things with them that are unrealistic (e.g. ordering them to open fire on crowds when no self-respecting Gendarme would) then I may seize control of them and twat you over the head.
