Anyone there? Stuck in this Prison "alternative" School. Made a nation for a assignment in my government class. Figured if I'm stuck here for 7 hours in this place I might as well check the forums. So. How is everyone?

My assumption is that I'm not gravedigging, based on the precedent that this page had nations which posted while the last post was much older that what the previous post for me is and no mod action was taken.

What is the reason F7 is really called F7?

You cannot grave dig this thread, it’s a glorified FAQ so don’t worry about gravedigging.

I’m pretty sure it’s literally just because it was the 7th thread on the site. If not, I have no idea. Thought I heard that somewhere, anyways.

This is incorrect.

Forum 7 gets its name from the original incarnation of the NationStates forum.

On the original incarnation of the forums, the forum with the ID number of 7 was the private moderator board but people noticed that the ID numbers went from 6 to 8.

Don't quote me on this, since I wasn't there when this happened and I might be getting it mixed it up with something else, but I believe the original incarnation of the forums added an F7 subforum shortly before the migration to Jolt, but it wasn't carried over to the Jolt forums. Just as like a 'goodbye to the old forums' thing. Like I'm pretty sure I either saw an archived version of the OG forums from a bit before the Jolt migration or a screenshot or someone just said it who was around back then.

Hilariously only the Jolt NS2 forums had an F7 section.

It’s low-effort posting such as one liners and intentionally going out of your way to not look at the player’s factbooks to provide an accurate assessment of their nation and it’s lore. The ticket to not earn you any flavor with players. Who could have been beneficial in your own lore-building.

/Stillme refers to when someone ignores or makes a post for the wrong nation.

For example, if your in a F7 thread we’re your expected to make atleast a paragraph post. You write your paragraph post which is pretty decent, however the next nation only makes a response of two words. You have the right to do a /stillme in something like that.

Doubleposting normally refers to (in F7) posting after only one or two posts have passed, generally in threads that require you to reply/say something about the AN.

Other F7 terms worth mentioning is AAN, 'Above Above Nation', which you should know, refers to the nation above AN. "/bump", usually said by the OP(Opening Poster, who created the thread) to get a thread to the top of the page, where users see it most often.

I figure AAN should follow nicely from the meaning of AN... as each A is just another 'above'.

The /bump thing though surprises me that I missed that. Thanks for the reminder.
