DRAFT: Condemn Mencer

Postby Classic Rockstars » Sun Jul 12, 2009 11:15 am

NOTICING that Mencer helped Macedon destroy such regions as Belgium;

REALIZING that Mencer has not been punished for such; and

BELIEVING that the time is right to punish them for their sins.

The World Assembly hereby condemns Mencer.

OK!

BELIEVING that the time is right to punish them for their sins.

How does this punish them? It'll place a black and gold sticker on their region page. I'm sure they're howling in sheer terror at the prospect of that happening.

I'd like to see Mencer condemned as well.

But this proposal needs a lot of work before it can be considered a submittable condemnation.

First of all, I'd suggest you take a looky at Ard's guide to writing a legal C&C > viewtopic.php?f=24&t=5182

In this draft:

You don't provide much of an argument at all, nor any info on Mencer for those who might not know who they are.

Also,
Mentioning past SC resolutions as an argument to why we should vote for your current condemnation is forbidden (if you say something like "Macedon was condemned, so Mencer should be too!"), its a house of cards violation - because as time passes, a resolution you mentioned in your proposal could get repealed and weaken your argument or make it completely ridiculous. Such as the highly unlikely event that Macedon in the future, turns over a new leaf and becomes one of the guiding lights in NationStates Humanitarian efforts with several commendations to their name. ( )

I too would like to see Mencer condemned, but this draft needs a lot of work before it can be submitted. To begin with, I think you need quite a few more convincing clauses, and, like Unibot said, you didn't provide any historical background.

Some things you could write about:

-Mencer has destroyed many NS communities since their inception
-The expansion of Mencer's "empire," has shown discrimination towards people of different cultures, and prevented nations from celebrating these cultures.

I have to agree with the Ambassadors for Veilyonia and Unibot. This proposal would need a lot of "fleshing out" before submission. More details about why, to ensure that on its own it is understandable by anybody as to exactly why the condemnation is warranted.
