[Abandoned] Repeal: Commend Haiku

Oh boy! This one was a new way to write a resolution I haven't tried before. It was actually pretty cool to write it, and I welcome any feedback given on how to improve it.

This August Body
Sometimes must review passed laws
From many years past;

Some resolutions
Such as Commend Haiku are
No longer favored;

A peaceful region
Is not a reason enough
For commendation;

A lot of regions
Have existed for longer
Than Haiku's timespan;

Uninterrupted
Poetry is not special
In the Multiverse;

Many nations and
Regions have poetry forms
They write like Haiku;

Thus Haiku is not
Special enough to warrant
A commendation;

Therefore this Council
Must repeal the previous
Commendation now.

I love this. I like haiku, so I'll say against, but I like this.

Using haikus is the wrong way to go about it. If Haiku is no longer worthy, why are we still using that specific poetic form?

I'd consider supporting a repeal if it was written in a different form of poetry, like limericks or sonnets.

The reason I wrote it in a Haiku is because the ideas thread suggested to write it in one. It was pretty interesting to try it and write it, I'll say that. I think I'll keep it in a Haiku instead of rewriting the whole thing.

I always liked "Commend Haiku", mainly because of how it was written. I think it has a large chance to pass, but I am personally against the repeal.

Hmmm... Just liking the region of Haiku, and just liking how the resolution is written, I don't think are reason enough to commend a region or nation. To be honest, there needs to be more reasons than that, otherwise there would be so many nations and regions commended that the resolution type would be meaningless.

I like the repeal and the work that went into it, but the original resolution is a beautiful little piece of SC history and does not deserve to be repealed.

No point, and for "Many nations and
Regions have poetry forms
They write like Haiku;"

As I understand it, Haiku was an innovator here. So...people doing poetry of their own afterward seems like a silly repeal reason. Unless that's not true, in which case it should be made clear.

So, pretty much against.

If you take this away from us we'll take the potato resolution away. Just you wait.

A haiku for a potato makes the world go... never mind.

I absolutely love this. The text anyways. Absolute chad move to repeal a resolution written in Haiku with a repeal written in Haiku.

I mean, I'm not sure I'm actually in favour of the commend being repealed, but I respect the effort.

Nope for me. A non-haiku needs to be used to repeal a haiku.

I’m glad you had some fun with this creative writing exercise, but leave Haiku alone. That was by far one of the most unique, most purely joyful resolutions we’ve ever seen. It’s one of my personal favorites, and I see no reason to remove one of the most blatantly positive things the SC has ever done. Let us have some nice things, and let the lesser-known and less famous things stand out. The SC could stand to shine the spotlight on more creative and small regions that contribute to our collective culture and add some color and joy to this game which sometimes lacks both of those things.

Haiku deserves this. Enhance your badge somewhere else. Stop being a grinch.

In total agreement with Pallaith. Haiku’s Commendation should be left alone, it’s unique and we need that in the SC.

Completely opposed to a repeal.

Your draft is lovely
but hardly makes any sense
so we shall vote nay

A bit rich it is
to shame Haiku, when Haiku
is all you have got

I oppose this draft.
Its arguments lack merit
To strip Haiku's badge.

This. Having recently turned twenty, it's about time NationStates grew out of its angst-ridden teenage poetry phase and got a respectable job rather than wallowing in literary onanism.

One must be opposed
because one finds this commend
endearing and quaint.
