Quick question, is this supposed to be a joke? If not, then alright. I'd sadly be against this

Maybe let’s not accuse people of being badge hunters.

They don't seem intent on drafting it for a while and for all purposes, it seems to be a joke more than anything. There have been joke declaration that have passed, but I've seem them on the drafting stage for a couple of weeks at the very least.

I see we found something to argue about.

Why does it matter that this one didn't sit in the drafting stage longer? It's a joke declaration - there's barely any useful feedback to give it in the first place.

Why not? If it looks like a duck, waddles like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck.

Statistically speaking this has failure written all over it, at a 95% confidence level.

Can we not? This doesn't have any purpose within the new declaration category, and I feel we should keep joke declarations to a very large minimum until the category gets fully fleshed out.

I will vote in favour of this proposal if the author can satisfactorily answer the following question, with appropriate working and without external assistance.

Code: Select all
Show that for a household optimising as follows---
\begin{gather*}
    \max_{c_t, \ a_{t+1}} \sum^\infty_{t=0} \beta^t \util(c_t) \\
    \mathrm{\ s.t. \ } c_t + a_{t+1} = w_t + a_t ( 1 + r_t ) \mathrm{ \ for \ all \ } t \\
    c_t \geq 0 \mathrm{ \ for \ all \ } t
\end{gather*}

a steady state solution implies that the interest rate is equal to the time discount factor. Recall that ${\beta = \frac{1}{1 - \rho}}$ and that $\rho$ is the time discount factor.

That very much looks like a university-level economics assignment - not the "Math Homework" targeted at "children" that Yaak wishes the Security Council to express opposition to. This is not the sort of question I would expect "children" to answer as part of a healthy and balanced diet an ordinary mathematics curriculum.

See, for example: the English national curriculum for those aged 5-16; AQA's Maths, Further Maths and Economics A-Level syllabi (start from page 10 or so).

Looks like it might have been Mod removed?? It’s no longer there and the author didn’t pull it as far as I can see.

Obviously it didn't meet minimum resolution requirements, but let's see if Sedge will respond on the matter.

It failed to express an opinion on international affairs and obligations. You can fit all sorts of funny stuff in Declarations - e.g. commenting on the size of hippos - but you need to relate that to the NationStates world in some way. The proposal fell halfway between being a bad attempt at a GA proposal and being a weak complaint letter to the author's school teacher.

It could be filed under Rule 1d or 3b, but when someone submits a nonsense proposal that doesn't quite cross over into spam, it tends to get discarded.
