It's bad form, like the nominee commenting in the thread. That said, I'm overlooking it as I mentioned earlier in the thread.

How is either of those bad form?

Already gave my thoughts on the former, but for the latter, I typically see a nominee commenting in their drafting thread as bad form because it's functionally like them shadow-writing their own C&C. This should sound familiar, as I recall you wrote the replacement for Commend TRF.

A nominee should not be able to determine how history will remember them, and they should not attempt to control the way that they are talked about.

None of the main SCers are saying that commending regionmates is bad, we're all actually okay with that fact.

Don't worry, that's bad too. But like in this case, and in the other cases, a minor issue isn't worth throwing out the entire resolution when the nominee is deserving.

On behalf of the government of TSP, may I kindly request that the section relating to the South Pacific be substantially reduced, if not omitted in its entirety. The South Pacific would appreciate not being associated with a character who has since presided over considerable hostility against the Coalition.

This section definitely needs revision and language such as 'exemplary service' does misrepresent the chequered history. It also misses out something pretty key that I think should be elaborated on (see below).

The section certainly shouldn't be omitted in its entirety. HEM was the one who proposed the Election Amendment that replaced the challenge system with regular democratic delegate elections (although I won't let him take all the credit, Todd and I were the ones that kept pushing the region towards it). That is one of the pillars of TSP and a key part of its identity, and to ignore HEMs hand in that would be a great shame - regardless of anything else.

I voted For this proposal, as I think HEM's region-building work created one of the most consistently active and successful UCRs. We've Commended other nations for similar that participated far more directly in raiding than HEM has.

I've stayed quiet through the whole process which I believe is proper, but I want to just very very quickly thank everyone who voted for the commendation. I am very honored and flattered and it's more than I deserve. I hold no ill will, and in many instances, have respect for those who felt that they could not vote for the commendation on ideological grounds. Watching this process unfold, silently, has made me surprisingly introspective about my NS career -- I am not perfect, nor have I ever been, and nor will I ever be. So, it is truly humbling for my peers to look upon my contributions and judge that the positives outweigh the negatives to an extent where they believe a commendation is merited. Thank you, all.
