Well, this is my first venture out here into drafting and passing resolutions. I'd like to thank Maowi for all of her help with this alongside many others who already gave me feedback. I'm looking forward to making any improvements y'all can suggest before submitting. Long story short, HEM is one of the most influential founders and players in this game, and he has done an incredible amount of good. This commendation only begins to cover it.

• Their impressive 228 total days as Head of Government of Europeia, as well as countless more of service in the Cabinet and the Senate, which saw the introduction of multiple fruitful projects and policies including:
  
  
  • The region’s first EuroPride festival during their Presidency in 2018, in which national delegations from all over NationStates convened to celebrate diversity and promote inclusion and positive attitudes - the event was successfully held again two years later;

• As Minister of Regional Affairs, establishing a regional welcome procedure, helping ensure the continued flow of new members into the region, and working diligently on a project to collate a comprehensive account of the South Pacific’s rich history;
  
• Proposing legislation for and actively collaborating in the 2011 reshaping of the region’s election laws, which replaced the challenge system for Delegate elections with regularly scheduled votes, bringing stability and reputability to the region and laying the foundation for its identity as a champion of democracy;
  
• Presiding over the historic Coalition v. Milograd trial as Chief Justice, which lasted over a month, ruling on accusations of treason for “orchestrating a coup, ejecting nations from the region and undermining the judiciary”;
  
• In their capacity as Vice Delegate, working with Delegate Southern Bellz to stabilise the region after Milograd’s ban and leading efforts to increase and enrich integration and communication between the South Pacific’s governmental areas and its wider community;
  
• As Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, revamping and revitalising the region's ambassador system, which contributed to a resurgence of the South Pacific's diplomatic presence interregionally;

Appreciating their years of service in the region The Land of Kings and Emperors, where they served as a steadfast senior advisor on foreign affairs and Constitutional matters, including answering the call to serve temporarily as regent while Crown Prince, presiding over a successful and productive government in early 2015 – this period of time saw a regional population boom, lively 10th anniversary celebrations, and important reforms;

On re-reading, and I am getting picky here, use of the phrase “Regional Message Board community” jars with me. Yes, RMB is legal but I think it could be better expressed as “general populace” or “wider community”.

I get that they have had a number of positions and have helped out the region in a variety of capacities. However, I personally wouldn't describe a total of 228 days as HoG as impressive. Also, pedantically, I should point out that one could count the number of other days in service to the Cabinet and the Senate.

Generally, I don't find festivals to be super commendable and this feels out of place compared to the other clauses here.

This is vague enough that it could probably be expanded upon, but ultimately that's up to you.

I support this resolution, although I think TSP & LKE sections may need reconsideration. The heart of the resolution is HEM’s extraordinary contribution to Europeia — he could have run it as an autocrat, but instead he chose to embrace a democratic republic that could evolve and innovate and change. He’s always been a constructive force there.

Independentism has a difficult history in TSP - the 2016 coup had tacit/material support from ‘Manifesto’ regions (Balder, TNP, Euro). Mentioning HEM’s involvement in championing independentism in tandem with his work in prosecuting a couper in TSP, doesn’t address the fact HEM also betrayed the Coalition and the constitution to further a political agenda.

It also seems inconsistent to me to commend HEM for helping to make Europeia commendable, but also commending HEM for contributing to LKE — whose members have been condemned and whose closest ally has been condemned for actions that LKE conducted with TNI. Like, either the WASC’s opinion is valuable or it is not.

This section definitely needs revision and language such as 'exemplary service' does misrepresent the chequered history. It also misses out something pretty key that I think should be elaborated on (see below).

The section certainly shouldn't be omitted in its entirety. HEM was the one who proposed the Election Amendment that replaced the challenge system with regular democratic delegate elections (although I won't let him take all the credit, Todd and I were the ones that kept pushing the region towards it). That is one of the pillars of TSP and a key part of its identity, and to ignore HEMs hand in that would be a great shame - regardless of anything else.
