Unibot III wrote:The very first WA Liberation, "Liberate Belgium" was passed after Belgium had actually been liberated. FRA and co. recovered the password and did a stealth liberation (incidentially I was actually on a school trip in Belgium at the time, so I remember this well - I had to use the hotel computer for updates - it was the 2000s!). The resolution was passed and the Belgian community requested the WA Liberation to remain in place.
We wish to emphasize the point about Belgium's request being crucial. The principle, as always, is native sovereignty.
Since in this case the natives seem to be inactive, we lean against repealing the resolution because it is a prophylactic against Region Griefing. A secret password cannot be imposed with a Liberation resolution in force, and the only nations with the moral right to impose a secret password are not, to our knowledge, requesting the ability to do so. If the natives were to request a repeal than of course the Security Council should honor that.
