[PROPOSED]: Condemn Confederation of Corrupt Dictators

Postby The Republic of Yakutia » Wed Apr 01, 2020 1:03 pm

The Security Council,

~ Disgusted that the Confederation of Corrupt Dictators has long stood as a bastion of fascism, openly identifying as such and promoting the said ideology;

~ Aware that the Confederation's leadership, including Jocospor, has recently been involved in activities of a very nefarious nature, infiltrating The North Pacific, employing spies under alias accounts (Artemizistan and Ikea Rike) in an attempt to seize the region's delegacy;

~ Realizing that this Security Council's previous Liberation of this region, though thus far having failed to meet its objective, was nonetheless founded on good principles and good evidence;

~ Understanding that the region itself has from its earliest origins promoted wrongdoing in many respects, openly advocating corruption, dictatorship, fascism and autocracy, while opposing the values of democracy and liberty;

~ Distrusting the region's government still further for its continual spreading of lies, fear and misinformation at every level of the World Assembly, the Security Council and the Forum, which can be interpreted as malicious propaganda;

~ Noting that the region has also long promoted autocracy and dictatorship, ruled by its founder Jocospor with an iron fist and constantly opposing democracy and freedom of speech in favor of sheer power and absolute control;

~ Trusting that the nations of this Security Council will forever stand against such corruption and vile debauchery,

Hereby condemns Confederation of Corrupt Dictators.

Against. This would just give them the attention they so desperately crave.

Honestly the liberation should probably be repealed for that reason.

This could make the council look predjudiced in the world’s eye. I mean in their description it says that they will always be Nationstate’s despised region. Should we act on that?

Well it’s been submitted, though I think (not sure) the link to a dispatch makes it illegal.

Not a SC regular, but this and referring to nations as "spies under alias accounts" (which means that they are players behind those accounts) might indeed violate rule 4b.

It's been declared illegal as this clause indeed violates rule 4c.

If you reword it to something like the following I think it has a good chance to make quorum:

"Aware that the Confederation's leadership, including Jocospor, has recently been involved in activities of a very nefarious nature, including infiltrating The North Pacific by employing spies in an attempt to seize the region's delegacy."

Also I feel a bit left out, you could at least mention me in there somewhere.

Good spot on the "alias accounts" line. Dispatch links we're considering but leaning towards them being okay. There's the precedent of links to forum threads, which are illegal - but I'm struggling to remember why we ruled that (having the url displayed in the proposal would be an issue, but that can be avoided).

Is it possible for Dispatch links to be considered on a case-by-case basis, or is that just a nightmare for you guys? In theory they should be acceptable when used in the way this proposal has used them, but I could see that opening the doors to people just linking to a ton of SC illegal content through a technically legal mechanism.

The ruling was made on a resolution that literally had the URL in the proposal and referred to the forum thread as a 'thread' (illegal in its own right). Again, in theory links to IC parts of the forum could be appropriate, but in practice it opens the door to linking to any random OOC discussions when authors should really be conveying their point within the proposal itself.

Thank you all for your feedback, I have resubmitted the proposal after it was deemed illegal for an accidental violation. I have made the necessary changes, here is a link to the proposal.

The proposal is nowhere near a state of submission, without even mentioning the reasons listed for why such a condemnation is undesirable for the greater international community. If you do, for whatever reason, insist on going through with this, I strongly urge you to take more drafting time.

And yet you didn't listen to any of the feedback above explaining why it was a bad idea. "Legal" != "Good".

I wasn't actually ruling on it and was just making the point about feedback. I think we're still discussing that, and I'm definitely not the best mod for setting SC precedent.

Not, according to Ransium who just marked it as such.

No... again you're giving them a badge, this only came about because of the election
Violence is only justified when used against equal violence. If you ideology requires violence to establish it, you're wrong. I am a Roman Catholic, and I would consider myself economically liberal and very socially conservative. I am against any ideology that seeks to crush any person for any reason, and limit the potential of any person.
