[IDEA SCRAPPED] 2019 Security Council Awards: Open to All

Postby Bormiar » Sat Dec 28, 2019 7:00 pm

Welcome to the 2019 Security Council Awards.

This new awards ceremony, inspired by the Gameplay Awards, is meant to honor Security Council players who have proved to be excellent authors.

Obviously, just like in our condemnations and commendations, no real weight or authority exists in the "awards", but to have won an award given by the public with evenly weighted votes should still be prestigious.

Schedule

  • The nomination period will last until the 5th of January;
  • The voting period will last from then to the 12th of January;
Rules for nominations
  • Nominations cannot be made by DOS or OOC blacklisted players;
  • Nominations cannot be made for DOS or OOC blacklisted players;
  • Self-nominating or nominating your own proposal is prohibited;
  • Nominate as many people as you like for each award;
  • Providing justification for each nomination is highly encouraged;
  • Seconding is pointless but still fine;
  • Give the nation's full name, not a nickname (e.g "Testlandia" instead of "Test", "Land of Testing" instead of "LoT");
  • Awards are given for actions carried out in 2019;
Rules for voting
  • Voting will be carried out via Google Forms in order to avoid
  • If a player is found to have voted twice in any award, all their votes will be voided;
  • You can only vote for a nominated player;
  • Votes from DOS or OOC blacklisted players will be voided;

Awards
Most Prolific Writer - An award given to the player whose contributions to the Security Council have been deemed more entertaining, well-written, significant, or greater in quantity than all others.

Most Helpful Critic - An award given to the player who gives the best advice on proposals drafted.

The Loudest - An award given to the player who, despite a lack of positions in the WA, carries the most weight in suggesting how a region votes.

Up and Coming Writer - An award given to a new SC player who shows the most promise for their future in the SC.

Best WA program - An award granted to a region or organization's WA program which does the best in swaying nations to vote a certain way.

Best Written Resolution - The proposal we find to be the most moving, entertaining, or convincing.

Best New Idea - The resolution we find to be most pioneering or interesting.

Most Impactful Liberation - the liberation that NS is most likely to not have been the same without. Includes those which liberate a prominent region and those which do the most for their region.

Greatest Failure (IC only) - Self-explanatory. The proposal we find to have been least likely to pass or most poorly executed. Only applies to proposals campaigned for - not drafts.

Seeing as nominations and voting are already over, congratulations to all of the winners. Who just so happen to be no one.
Apparently simultaneously a Ravenclaw puppet, a NPO plant, and a Warden spy. I had no idea I was that good. Depending on who you ask, my aliases include Krulltopia.

Most Prolific Writer - Kuriko (but already nominated), A mean old man (didn't see 2019 rule lmao)

Most Helpful Critic - Eumaeus

The Loudest - Fauxia

Up and Coming Writer - Bormiar

Best WA program - TNP WA Program

Best Written Resolution - https://www.nationstates.net/page=WA_pa ... /council=2 - Detailed, but I nominated it because it managed to convince many delegates to vote in favor of the resolution, despite the Atlantic Alliance being dead for many years

Best New Idea - https://www.nationstates.net/page=WA_pa ... /council=2 - It pretty much provided the basis for introducing NS Cards to the SC realm, along with providing the terminology, through the phrase "artwork", to the newest NS stat in the game.

Most Impactful Liberation - https://www.nationstates.net/page=WA_pa ... /council=2 (2019 rule)

Greatest Failure (IC only) - Commend Mikeswill, based upon the fact that the nominee voted against his own commendation

Just your typical guy who wants to have fun. Don't take this nation seriously,
ever.
I DO NOT use NS stats!
Keshiland literally wrote:I would give it a no. A country that lies about how free, or how great, or how humanitarian it is can never be developed. Example, NK lies and says they are democratic and are not, the US lies and says we are free yet we incarcerate millions for a medical plant. See we are basically a larger more populated North Korea.

Fair points. Best to scrap the idea all-together than futilely pursuing something that people don’t like.

Not a completely unreasonable idea, except in implementation.

I believe GA has occasionally had awards based on resolutions and such, that may be of interest if you feel like finding the threads.
