[DRAFT] Liberate The East Pacific

Postby United Massachusetts » Mon Oct 14, 2019 8:10 am

Recalling that per the precedent set by SC#247, Liberate the East Pacific, "liberation proposals such as this one can be written to have a symbolic, rather than practical effect, and that liberations can be targeted at regions without "Delegate-imposed barriers to free entry,"

Further noting that liberation proposals can be used, as in SC#247, to call attention to severe miscarriages of justice and serve as a warning to the international community against hostile, violent, and/or dangerous actors,

Believing that, in light of a recent coup in The East Pacific, launched by Fedele and its political allies, such a liberation would be fitting to warn nations of the coup-in-progress,

Briefly rehashing some of the unjust, illegal, and/or dangerous actions undertaken by Fedele and company that have brought about this coup:
  • The dismissal of several Viziers tasked with the defence of the region from foreign coup attempts, including longstanding regional natives Aelitia, Bachtendekuppen, and Todd McCloud, in violation of regional law,
  • The subsequent ejection of Todd McCloud and banjection of Bachtendekuppen, both Viziers and Magisters, in violation of regional law,
  • The banjection of lawfully-elected delegate Marrabuk,
  • The mass-ejection of so-called "marsupial" nations, in violation of regional law,
  • The mass-importation of individuals affiliated with Lone Wolves United, a raider group responsible for several coups of influential regions, and with the Rahl family, the very group responsible for a coup of the East Pacific in 2008,
  • The mass-banning, ejection, and intimidation of officials tied with the government of Queen Yuno,
  • attempts to influence the composition of the Magisterium, through both the importation of foreign agents, and attempts to tie Magisterial admission to presence in the Executive,
Expressing its firm seriousness this time around,

Calling upon regional natives to endorse trusted regional officials, such as Aelitia, Todd McCloud, and lawfully-elected delegate Marrabuk,

The Security Council, in the name of the ever-knowing Violet, in this present session assembled by the delegates and member nations thereof, and by the authority of the same, hereby liberates The East Pacific.

This is stupid and pointless. This liberation will accomplish nothing.

Just condemn Fedele if you really want to write something. The text of this resolution would actually work for a condemnation.

Disagree. A liberation badge is far more public than a condemnation, insofar as it goes on the regional main page.

If Aelitia takes the delegacy this update, I will shelve this draft

If that happens, will you still support a condemnation of Fedele?

I'm still for this resolution at hand here. It's one thing to be in a condemned region where people join in voluntarily, it's a whole different matter when someone tries to convert a democratic region for his own benefit through the violations of several regional laws.

Seriously? As if the first liberation of TEP wasn't bad enough?

No.

May I ask this delegation what course of action would you suggest for the blatant violation of democratic institutions within The East Pacific? Because if this region was of a smaller significant size, I wouldn't be bothered by it.

The residents in The East Pacific were not given a choice to determine their leader. This liberation will at least promise that choice to the people in there.

How does this liberation promise that choice...?

The course of action is clear and is already being enacted:
1. Encourage those endorsing Fedele and his compatriots to remove their endorsements.
2. Encourage WAs to support the legitimate government.
3. Those with significant influence who have been ejected from TEP should update surf.

The Security Council allows us to take an international stance against Fedele while doing all of the three above. There are still people who are endorsing Fedele, and there are sure as hell are people who remain oblivious to the fact that The East Pacific's democracy is crumbling under Fedele. If we are going to allow the fifth-largest region to fall into a dictatorship, with that amount of endorsements, there is literally no way anyone can win this region back.

The liberation (and condemnation) will serve to fulfil the first point you have raised, which is literally raising awareness of Fedele's crimes. It doesn't matter whether this is a medal to him or whatnot, the people still hold the vote to him through their endorsements, and by sanctioning a liberation and condemnation on the Delegate, we can get rid of Fedele by getting people to step up and know what is happening.

I believe there's been about three mass telegrams to The East Pacific from what I know of. Probably more.

I assure you, the residents are aware.

The campaign against Fedele is winning. I am aware of that. However, that does not diminish the weight of the crimes he has committed in The East Pacific as Delegate.

That's a completely different argument than the one you were just advancing.

Well, the points that I have stated above is an argument - but not the argument for the basis of this resolution.

A liberation is not needed. The region'll be liberated by TEP's own members soon enough.

Yeah but there wasn't any need to attempt to draft it in the first place. Fedele will never hold on to power.

A complete and utter disregard for the authority of the WA. I am pretty sure we've had this conversation before.

No, I didn't like the original all that much outside of being a decent joke and support this one even less.

Alright. I support condemning Fedele, but considering he's no longer succeeding at his coup, this proposal is completely unnecessary.
This nation semi-reflects my political views, but not completely.
Also, before anyone assumes, my leader is in no way based off of myself.
