No, he wrote it as a shitty recruitment gimmick for Northern Redlands and as a middle-finger to the WA, oh joy...

edit to add: Caracasus' post below contains my original quote, although the substance of the post, before and after, is by and large the same.

Just because members of the region have their assumptions as to why I wrote it, does not mean they are true.

I posted this to my RMB:

Yeah guys, I did not write the proposal to flip off the WA or as recruitment bait. I wrote it because I wanted to write it, get some practice for writing a good proposal, do some research into regions other than my own, bring some publicity to the region, and perhaps stir a bit of controversy.

//

That's honestly why I bothered to write this proposal and why I am sticking with it. Hopefully that clarifies things :)

I listed those in order of precedence. My primary reason was that I wanted to write it. My secondary reason was to practice writing a good proposal. Those are the two big ones you should take into most consideration of. The others are more or less effects I considered when writing it.

Not exactly sure giving the region more negative publicity is necessarily a good thing. Seems like it has enough of it.

Seriously, drop this. If it gets to quorum, it will be annihilated. The WA generally hates Fascists, self-commanders and racists, and the Confederation is or has members who are all three. This proposal will get slaughtered. Save yourself the embarrassment and drop it now, would be my honest advice.

We would rather command ourselves, to be honest, rather than have someone else do it for us.

But you're absolutely right. The World Assembly is totally against anyone thinking for themselves. *the Delegate's Office giggles*

I'm sure you would rather commend yourselves, the ego on this region's representatives has been quite apparent.

Fortunately for the rest of us, the SC looks very unkindly on self-commends, mainly because it's seen as an ego-trip, which in your case is exactly what it is.

Oh I don't have any problem with you thinking for yourself Joco, it's the nonsense that comes out when you do that bothers me.

Not dropping this.

Then it'll fail. Hard. If it even gets to vote.

If you need to learn that the hard way, so be it, but don't whine and say you weren't warned.

Trust me, this is never going to pass

Your right anything not remotely left wing never passes on the SC. Its a proven fact. But its worth the trie.

Not at all proven. Plenty of proposals can pass if they're well-written, thought-out and factually accurate. Yours could pass as well if you ever bothered to put in the necessary effort in crafting them. But you don't, none of you do, you use it for a quick five-minute badly-drafted proposal, submit it, then rinse and repeat until you lose often enough, then whine and groan because 'the system is unfair' because it rejected your ill-conceived babble in the shape of a proposal.

Sorry, no sympathy. Draft proposals properly or get out, especially if others here with far more experience and many of whom have actually passed proposals themselves.

Now, it's "They're out and out racists!!" Care to clarify if you're making this accusation within the context of the game or you're actually going so far as to throw unsubstantiated slanders at our players?

Additionally, not all fascists are racists; I think it's just whenever someone says "fascist", Hitler comes to mind. To me, it's Italy that comes to mind; they were the only one to still keep a somewhat stable nation.

So stable that it's leader ended up being strung up from meat hooks in the public square, as he so richly deserved.

Yeah, that stable bit needed work, clearly.

Well if you wanted to practice writing a proposal, then take the advice of people here who've been doing it longer then you when they tell you. This. Shall. Not. Pass.

If you just push on ahead without heed, then you will forgive us if we're a bit sceptical about your claim that this is the main reason. People who want to learn how to write good, passable proposals and are sincere in their intentions approach this completely different from the way you've been acting through this entire discussion.

Last time I made a proposal that reached quorum, I did not make a forum post at all. It failed very hard and rightfully so.

This proposal, I made a forum post because I want to learn from it and improve, regardless if people tell me to delete it or that it won't pass. Call me too hopeful for my own good, but I would rather see something fail with my own eyes than assume it will.

Overall, I do feel like I have learned a lot from this ordeal that I can take forth when writing new proposals, especially concerning not-so-controversial regions or nations. As a side, I must admit, I never realized how hated the CCD is here on the forums. I assumed they were infamous and that might get nations to want to play Devil's advocate, but I've learned about how powerful of a force the forums and superdelegation are these past few days. Thank you all for helping me learn this, I really do appreciate it.

Glad to hear we were helpful. Yes, CCD is hated, to the point where there is an active Liberation on them passed by the SC. That alone should tip you off that a commendation is doomed to fail. Even the Security Council is not so big a joke that it would simulataneously have a neo-liberation and a commendation for the same region.

Playing devil's advocate is fine, plenty of people have unpopular opinions on this thread, but part of the skill of drafting proposals is admitting reality and knowing what has a chance of passing and what doesn't. Many new players have to learn this, and the one that distinguishes the good players from the not-good ones are that some learn it and some don't. I hope you are the former, and not the latter.

It's not going to pass, it's not going to reach quorum. Perhaps rightfully so? I think I am coming out of this with a far different perspective than I did after posting the proposal. I know a bit more about the forums and superdelegation, as well as how critical those are to the success of proposals. I look forward to taking Ransium's advice and writing a proposal that favors the interests of you all far more than a proposal to commend a controversial region. Also expect me to make a post on the forums at least a week before I actually post it, I feel advice like this would be far more useful before I post a proposal and pay for telegram stamps.

But yeah, thanks everyone!

Welcome. Good luck:)
