BoM and TSP.

Osiris and Balder were listed in the WFE, but I don't remember anything about TSP. TSP might have been added later, but they weren't there after update.

EDIT: Oh wait, I'm getting my stories crossed. This was when Escade was Del, and yes TSP was named specifically.

I've considered this thoroughly and gone back and forth a bit. Although this could easily be fit into the overall narrative, I just don't think the amount of RP Chan has participated in merits mention in the condemnation.

Chan tells me it was March 2014 and one of the very first things he did after joining the game.

To be clear, I consider this condemnation to be mostly about issues. Chan has written 5th most of anyone (and 2 others are commended and another is Max) , and some of them are some of the better issues in the game. I felt given Chan's persona a condemn would be the appropriate honor, and I thought it would be fun to write an issues based condemnation, since I'm not aware of any others. I've included the raiding stuff (more accurately asked LD to write the raiding stuff for me) because I would not consider the condemnation complete without it, but I am under no illusions that Chan's raiding activity is sufficient to be condemned alone (although I trust other gameplayers who say Chan was one of the best pilers). But yeah, in the end, I'm here for the issues.

I can confirm that Chan Island never used any of the illegal tools that TBR/DEN had, and that Chan Island served in BoM, TBR, and DEN (I was in all three). Chan was just a "foot-soldier", which is why they never got access to the illegal tools. Their Issues Authorship is definitely their more significant contribution to NS.

Full support. The more non-R/D proposals in the SC, the better.

I think you’re fine listing just the R/D bits you have. One grammar quibble from that section:

...among other prior to that organization's well-deserved destruction;

Make that “among others” and add a comma after that, for better readability.

Multiverse is legal, on mobile so not going to quote but see here under rule 4, legal and illegal terms: viewtopic.php?p=3755837#p3755837

Confirmed, definitely legal.

I see some minor issues in your draft.

Ransium wrote:Presenting the nation of Chan Island (which has re-branded itself in a desperate attempt to escape the crimes of its former regime Annihilators of Chan Island) a nation whose desire to spread chaos across all nations is so great that few leaders have been spared the vexation of dealing with its actions;

You should put a comma either right after 'the nation of Chan Island' or before 'a nation whose.'
Ransium wrote:Shocked to trace at least twenty-four distinct covert operations that impact nations across the multiverse to the regime (fifteen of which originate from the Annihilators of Chan Island and the remaining nine can be traced to Chan Island);

The part in bold shouldn't be an independent clause, since it doesn't sound right that way. I suggest:
(fifteen of which originate from the Annihilators of Chan Island with the remaining nine being from Chan Island)

If you so choose, you can change 'being' to a more interesting word.
Ransium wrote:Hereby condemns Chan Island

This is only a stylistic suggestion. Capitalize 'condemns.'

Ultimately, I support this resolution, of course. Chan has contributed a lot to NationStates and deserves this recognition.

Sigh. Editors. :p

(1) If you're going to add a comma as MI suggests, it goes after the parenthetical clause, not before.

(2) How about "(fifteen originating from the Annihilators of Chan Island, nine from Chan Island)"? You already have the "Shocked to trace etc." in the main clause, you don't need to repeat it or say anything equivalent to it or expand upon it in the parenthetical clause. It's just too wordy that way.

(3) Don't capitalize "condemns". That's the mark of an amateur SC author. :ugeek:

Go to the Got Issues forum, click on the published issues megathread and run a keyword search for chan island. That's your evidence for the first section.

I can personally confirm the 'have war crimes will travel' issue as I edited it (and a lot of fun it was too!)

For the second section, see the last couplea pages where prominent raiders quibble slightly over Chan Island's invovlement and how best to word it.

And based on some conversations offsite, it's actually possible that some of that could be a bit understated, but I'm not completely sure

You are I think mistaking narrative framing here. Chan Island is being recognised for their contributions to the game. These are largely writing issues and raiding. We can't say 'commending because of issues they wrote' so instead issues are framed as part as a narrative. In the case of Chan Island, neferious trickery and spying works really well as a narrative device.

The part you are referencing here is dealing with an issue Chan Island wrote.
