Condemn the Security Council

Postby Game Theorist » Fri Apr 13, 2018 4:56 pm

[proposal=][/proposal]The Security Council shouldn't be able to control nations at will. We have a responsibility to keep the notion that nations should be allowed to do whatever they choose. For good or bad, it is a nation's duty to have the freedom to lead its own nation to the future. I believe that the Security Council and the World Assembly should lose their power to control nations at will. There is no reason why in a simulation where we can choose to do how we choose, should there be an organization specifically designed to restrict that mechanic.

Welcome to the Security Council!

- The proposal tag doesn't work like that.

- WA proposals cannot affect game mechanics.

- The WA isn't going anywhere.
In=character, Kaboomlandia is a World Assembly member and abides by its resolutions. If this nation isn't in the WA, it's for practical reasons.

Suggestions for expanding the SC would be great though. There are quite a couple tech threads for it.

When you see the a SC proposal to "liberate" "open up" a region, it is usually just restoring order invasions. That information should have been clear if you read through the faq. It is there to make sure that the game works as it should. With the GA, I was under the impression that it does have a slight impact on member nations, but you agreed to have that done when you signed up. Their impact is similar to the UN's, with laws on human rights and the like, therefore making it even more of a simulation of the real world. To quote the faq itself, "the General Assembly does not concern itself with individual nations or regions, but humanity as a whole."

Implying critiques of the SC extends to the entire WA. Tbh, I think the GA is great.

With that said, pretty much what everybody else said. The SC, as horrible as it is, is here to stay. What we can do as members is to proactively go through each and every resolution passed, find legal reasons to repeal and repeal. Furthermore, we as members should then go to every active resolution brough to vote and vote AGAINST to the exception of resolutions to repeal.

This is how we cripple the SC. Baby steps. OP Baby steps.

Before the WA split into the GA and the SC, The Security Council was a region where proto-SC members debated proposals and submissions.

I see no reason to condemn a historical region.

Repeal, Repeal, Repeal!

Postby Game Theorist » Sun Apr 15, 2018 12:56 pm

See! That is my point. We have the honor to participate in this and make our nation however we choose. The World Assembly and Security Council shouldn't be a "papa government". I understand that we can do nothing to remove the WA or SC so I think that the best way to go about this is to repeal every notion the Wa or SC tries to pass or has passed so we can make the WA lose its power. Who's with me?

If your nation isn't in the World Assembly, it doesn't get affected by General Assembly resolutions. If you don't want the GA to affect your stats, resign from the WA.

And unless you're in a region that's being liberated, the SC really has no tangible effect on you whatsoever.

I'm going to be very real with you. I've been playing this game on and off for twelve years. You? The House of Petain? You're not the first people to try and dismember the WA. Every new wave of players brings in people who think it's totally possible to dismantle the WA from within. It won't happen. Ever. As long as NS exists? The WA GA and SC will continue to go strong.

If you find the WA that objectionable? You're free to leave. You don't need to be in the WA to partake in NS. If you want to be part of the WA? That's fine, but you need to accept that it's here to stay and never, ever being dismantled.

I didn't mean for it to come off as hostile. More blunt than anything.

My apologies if I crossed that line, it wasn't my intent.
