Ambassador Amelia, though visibly disappointed by the bill, clears her throat and, in a respectful tone says "Though the Rejected Realms is a vast region and its community has been welcoming to newcomers with many of its members eagerly helping nations just starting out or needing some advice, I do not believe this reasoning is enough to give it a formal commendation."

She takes her quill and underlines third clause of the bill in a passive-aggressive manner, "And the clause 'honoring that The Rejected Realms has provided aid and refugee to countless nations that have been rejected from their native regions or have been victims of raider invasions,' is not necessarily true. In fact, to me, that is grossly over-exaggerating the Rejected Realms' membership. It could very well be the case that a nation joins the Rejected Realms because they were ejected from their former region after acting offensive to other members of the region or because they were a raider, traitor, or a troll."

"Unless you can give specific, commendable actions the region has made - not this vague nonsense - whether that be making strides to help other regions against raiders, or authoring World Assembly legislation that has proven to be vastly beneficial to others, I see no reason to support this proposal." In all capital letters, she writes OPPOSED onto her copy of the proposal before sliding it onto Hogwarts Pride's ambassador's desk.

• The region's newspaper, The Rejected Times is arguably the most established media outlet in NationStates.
• TRR was a serious diplomatic player within two major organizations, the ADN and the FRA.
• The Rejected Realms spent an inordinate amount of its diplomatic prowess giving Francos Spain, the middle finger - and we're pretty proud of that. When refugees came flooding in from the Pacific, the North Pacific, and Lazarus during the NPO's invasions, we've always tried to fill a role as a refuge for the disenfranchised.
• The Rejected Realms Issue Committee has successfully authored and contributed a number of issues to NS.

The response to our old friend BeneTom and his query about TRR is that Texas and the TDF existed before The Rejected Realms were even a glint in Max's eye. As a matter of fact, TRR did not exist until Tuesday, April 29, 2003. We remember the day well. There is a News Item: Regional Control. Needless to say, they did not have an Army for quite some time.

Have you tried to join the Rejected Realms as an outsider? Their discord might as well be a gated community, I was banned by an administrator for not so much as saying a word. The administrator lied to me put on a facade and acted like they weren’t an administrator then went about their business. While after attempting to use a Rejected Realms forum account created in 2014 which made zero posts I had less rights logged in on the forum then I did logged out.

If they truly believe in rehabilitation they should welcome everyone and stand by the fact that the Rejected Realms is an ejection and banjection free zone and not discriminate based on history. If you’re looking for a game created region to commend, commend The East Pacific. It’s the most welcoming game created region on the site and helps incorporate its members into the game. The Rejected Realms has somehow managed to become an elitist community, and has lost site of the fact that it’s literally composed of the Rejected.

I believe The Rejected Realms has a difficult role in NS, and they have handled this quite wonderfully. I support their commendation, however, this commendation needs some more drafting.

As stated by Ransium, this clause violates Rule 3 since it does not actually commend The Rejected Realms due to the extra information; in other words, it is like this clause has no operative clause. Just state"Hereby commends The Rejected Realms".

All in all, not a bad proposal. However, I'd suggest withdrawing this proposal and address the feedback given by me and other posters of this thread. This needs more drafting, and though a TRR Commendation has been tried and failed before, I'm not against this commendation. However, just because of that, if you want to commend TRR, you need to write down more information so that your argument would be stronger and make people convinced that TRR has really done something that should be recognized via commendation and change most of their votes to "For" instead.

I don't say TRR might not be worth a commendation, but if it is it should be the community for what they've done with it, and not for the game mechanics that make it TRR. Not ejecting people and not being able to eject people are two different things.

There is potential historical and organizational reason to commend, but the thing that personally strikes me is that, beyond the "yadda yadda old defenders", it's been a rare place on-site where people on both sides of the R&D game can get together (albeit OOC) relatively peacefully.
