[Temporally Scrapped] Repeal: Condemn Macedon

Postby Germanic Tribes » Fri Nov 17, 2017 8:07 am

Temporally Scrapped

Current Draft
Security Council Resolution # 1 Condemn Macedon shall be struck out and be rendered Null and Void
The Security Council,
Understands The actions Macedon did to deserve this condemnation

Noting that this repeal does not wash away or pardon their actions in any way.

Also Understanding the historical precedent that this resolution has made

Is Confused That a minuscule region still has an outdated condemnation from 8 years ago

Considering That Macedon's Leaders and prominent raiders are either no longer around or have given up raiding from this region

Certain That Macedon no longer poses any threat to world peace or any other regions

The Security Council hereby Repeals Condemn Macedon

Note: You do not have to speak in character in this thread, it just kinda convoultes everything for some people such as me. You may speak in charterer, but don't expect everyone too.

If you have a glance at the below search you'll see just how many times people have attempted this.

search.php?keywords=repeal+condemn+macedon&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=titleonly&sr=posts&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

The short of it is this is considered an important historical resolution and it is not going to be the nice easy repeal lots of folks seem to think it is.

If I expected it to be easy I would have just proposed it without making this thread first. I don't expect it to be a easy repeal, all repeals should be hard to get through imo. I also agree that it's significance of this resolution makes it hard to repeal

At least try as well as the last people to try it.

Sorta confused by that wording, you are saying "It's good to try even if you fail." I am correct?

You’ll need a beefier argument if you want this to get close to quorum

Macedon was a big deal back in the day. Their password grief of Belgium caused pandemonium in the community and changed raid / defense forever. Their actions are the major reason we have Liberation proposals, and Liberation proposals may have been the driving force behind bringing us the Security Council in the first place. So even though they are gone, the effects of what they did and who they were really are not.

But even beyond that, ALL players will quit eventually. Just because they are no longer active today doesn’t take away from what happened all that long ago. The premise that we should take away badges just because the player or group stops playing is silly, and has routinely been rejected. They (and any other nominee) were not recognized because they were expected to be a significant villain for the rest of time. They were recognized because in their period, they were significant.

I'm going to be tad blunter than my first post then. This isn't repealable. It's not just a matter of your draft, it's that NS doesn't want to repeal that resolution.

No. I'm saying that your effort needs to at least be as good as the last ones, because this is just an awful effort.

We kind of abandoned that precedent with Repeal: Commend Texas.

Incorrect. This is (assuming y'all are telling the truth) a region that revolutionized r/d, besides being, ya know, the first SC resolution ever. Texas didn't revolutionize a major aspect of the game, and was repealed largely because it was basically just a second commendation of NewTexas
