[ABANDONED] Commend Kaboomlandia

Postby Abhichandra » Wed Sep 13, 2017 6:43 pm

for now.

Commend Kaboomlandia

Category: Commendation | Nominee: Kaboomlandia | Proposed by: Abhichandra

The Security Council,

Noting that Kaboomlandia has authored no less than five Security Council resolutions, among which include

  • "Repeal "Liberate The NSIA”, which, after The NSIA was invaded, allowed forces to stop entry by Nazis,
  • "Commend Renaissancistic People", a nation which authored many World Assembly resolutions and has played a big part in the world through leadership,
  • Co-authored 'Repeal "Liberate the Place that has No Big Banks”', which was ineffective to the region,
  • 'Repeal "Condemn Gest"',
  • 'Repeal "Condemn General Halcones".
  • 'Repeal "Condemn Kknight", all three of which were involved in the Predator scandal,

Acknowledging that Kaboomlandia authored GAR #371, the Toxic Heavy Metals Act, which made sure that toxic heavy metals were handled and labeled appropriately by employees,

Observing that Kaboomlandia served as five-time Senator and four-time Minister for Europeia, which is the longest of any other nation, and helped mold it into its present form,

Applauding that Kaboomlandia also hosted the Europeian Premier League, an offsite league for Europeia, and has participated in many other sports around the world such as the World Bowl XXXIII, and World Junior Hockey Championships XIV,

Further noting that Kaboomlandia has helped countless aspiring authors in the Security Council with their resolutions and has overall made a big impact on the world,

Believing that Kaboomlandia should be rewarded for their contributions to this esteemed body and the rest of the world,

Hereby commends Kaboomlandia

Observing that Kaboomlandia served as five-time Senator and Four-time Minister for Europeia, which is the longest of anybody, and helped mold it into its present form,

R4(b). Otherwise pretty thin right now, but I'll withhold further comments as it appears to be a work in progress.

Commended by SC 236,
WA Delegate of Forest from March 20th, 2007 to August 19, 2020.
Author of WA Resolutions: SC 221, SC 224, SC 233, SC 243, SC 265, GA 403, GA 439, GA 445,GA 463,GA 465,
Issues Editor since January 20th, 2017 with some down time.
Author of 27 issues. First editor of 44.

You should probably go into more depth on his repeals in the SC & the GA Resolution, I do believe that the question of Kaboomlandia deserving a commendation is obviously answered yes, & I would support this if you remove the R4 violation & add a little more substance

I would change "awarded" to "rewarded" in the last line. Not sure if I support.

I am not seeing anything actually commendable here, so Kaboom has worked in Europeia - a region which is very much like marmite and people have wildly differing opinions on depending who you ask. What else has Kaboom done across NationStates that have earned a commendation?

I see Kaboom has done something in the WA. Cool. So have a lot of other people, so it's not really a great reason to commend someone for it unless they've dedicated themselves to it over the course of several years in my opinion.

I'm also not sure I'd agree that Kaboom has "made a big impact in the world", no offence to Kaboom.

Full disclosure here: I was approached prior to the posting of this draft. I'm not totally sure I've done enough to be Commended, but I know Abhichandra takes the SC seriously so I gave him the green light to draft something.
In=character, Kaboomlandia is a World Assembly member and abides by its resolutions. If this nation isn't in the WA, it's for practical reasons.

Could you specify the R4 violation?

Many nations before have been commended for WA authorship. Kaboom's first resolution was passed in 2016, but over the past year has authored many more and has helped many nation writes them. And besides, as I stated earlier, I am not hurrying to submit this and will add things as time goes on.

I think you need to tell a better story with the SC stuff. I would list them all up front rather than a subset. Then group them and discuss why the goals of each group are commendable. What is sorely lacking is any sort of narrative as to how these things all relate to each other, and why they form a commendable package as a whole.

I am also really busy IRL, so comments may not be addressed for a few days at a time.

I think that the predator scandal ones should have their own clause, or just don't seperate Kknight from the list. Besides, Kaboom did say that there was a 4th (i guess TBR) repeal coming up.
Besides I also think that you should mention one of these 'countless aspiring authors' accomplishments.

I added Kknight into the first clause, and will add whoever the 4th one is once the resolution passes.

What I meant by 'countless aspiring authors' was that Kaboom has helped many in the SC with their proposals, (giving feedback, or pointing out rule violations, or etc.)

You should talk more about Kaboom's sporting successes. Any old Joe who knows who to say "Signing up for this tournament" can sign up for a tournament, but it takes consistent dedication and class - or naked gnomes, c.f. Az-cz - to be considered one of the more famous nations in NS Sports.

I'll add on to this - the resolution basically refers to the competitions that Kaboomlandia has, like, just signed up for and is participating in within the last couple weeks. If you're going to mention the sporting history at all, at least actually look into some of the more impressive things Kaboom has done that shows his longevity and frankly, looks less weak than it does.

Honestly, I believe that a proposal like this should wait another couple months. Kaboom has done plenty of things recently but he'll continue to do more in the future and not only would delaying this resolution allow for more of his future actions to be included, but it'll also prove that he is set to be a real long-term influence on the WA and international affairs. Both of these things will make the resolution more likely to pass, as well.

Kaboom's most commendable aspect -- that he's done so much to help new authors -- literally gets the least attention. Everything else, particularly his contributions to the GA and Europeia, are fluff.

I'm going to agree with Drawk here - I don't think I've had enough contributions outside the SC. I'm multitalented on this game, but the other accomplishments haven't really taken root yet (until my f***ing World Bowl team wins a playoff game I won't be satisfied :p )

While its true that Kaboom has matured into one of the more prolific and helpful members of the SC, it is also true that he spent a considerable time being the opposite :p

Joking aside, I believe there is a lot that Kaboom has yet to do for the betterment of the greater world and commending them now may be premature which would be an injustice to the nation they continue to grow toward being.
