[DRAFT] Commend Christian Democrats

Postby Lexicor » Wed Jul 19, 2017 1:33 pm

OOC: Christian Democrats was also a big help personally in learning the ropes in the World Assembly, and I hope that in these divisive and partisan times, we can put aside political differences and recognize a player's outstanding and vital achievements. Cheers and salutations!

The Security Council,

Observing the purpose of commendations is to acknowledge extraordinary contributions by nations and regions,

Believing that the views held by Christian Democrats are important to maintain the diversity of political opinion in the World Assembly,

Recognizing the controversial but always fruitful debate that have ostensibly stemmed from resolutions proposed by Christian Democrats, regardless of one nations political views,

Acknowledging Christian Democrats expertise in the protocols, customs and norms of the World Assembly and their application of the expertise in providing incisive and helpful critique,

Further Acknowledging that this same expertise and continued activity in the World Assembly led to Christian Democrats selection to the General Assembly Secretariat,

Noting Christian Democrats contributions to World Assembly and their momentous achievements in expanding human rights by virtue of:

1. GAR #160 "Forcible Marriages Ban Act" which protects all citizens of the Assembly from coercive marriages,
2. GAR #200 "Foreign Marriage Recognition" which recognizes marriages abroad and protects religious liberty,
3. GAR #213 "Privacy Protection Act" which enshrines basic privacy protections for all persons,
4. GAR #285 "Assisted Suicide Act" which reaffirmed the principles of national sovereignty whilst maintaining World Assembly neutrality on a complicated ethical and moral issue,
5. GAR #310 "Disabled Voters Act" which aimed to lessen disenfranchisement and further participation in democracy,

Recognizing the role of Christian Democrats, via intermediaries in the establishment of "Right to Life" a region dedicated to promote the natural right to life, a region that provides the World Assembly with heated debate and controversy, but also an important counterbalance to the at times one minded World Assembly,

Believing these actions meet the criterion for commendation,

Hereby commends Christian Democrats.

Has anyone noticed how many right-winged nations have been commended? Almost none. Passing this would be a major victory for right-winged nations. Supported.

Arguments for Commendation

Postby Lexicor » Fri Jul 21, 2017 5:59 pm

In essence the argument boils down to three points.

1. Contribution to the WA as an author.

2. CD's long history of provoking interesting debate and remaining true to his principles {right or wrong!}

3. Contributions to the game via his role in regions.

This isn't a partisan issue. CD deserves commendation!

Unsurprisingly, I will support. I want to propose my own version as well. If the author wants to look at my attempt and help improve it, they could be listed as co-author. Conversely, I could help edit this one

I would support this.

Also, in the condemn proposal:"two attempts to undermine international protections of female bodily autonomy, allowing member nations to restrict the rights of women to control their own bodies,"
Get those in here in the commend as well.

I'm not plagiarizing, I'm just quoting the condemn thread, saying one of the points in it belongs in here.

And you're wrong. Nothing new about that.

The GA Secretariat are not classed as site staff.

See this for the ruling.
