Short and sweet always worked well for me.

Good luck. First paragraph reads clunky to me. If this push fails consider rewording it.

So far all comments regard syntax and grammar, not with the substance of the proposal. No offense here , but I'm inexperienced: do we commend Nations for football accomplishments? I see no one has suggested it's frivolous.

The Security Council can commend nations for their role-play. The commendations of Zwangzug, Starblaydia, and Commerce Heights mention their sports RP contributions and achievements.

Starblaydia and Commerce Heights commendations did more than just mention their sports RP contributions--they make up at least 80% of the reasons (maybe entirely). Zwangzug's commendation seemed to be around 50% world-cup related.

There is clearly strong precedence for such commendations stretching from 2010 to 2017. Despite this, No Names just can't find it in themselves to care, and so will be ABSTAINING from voting. Clearly the issue is important to many, given how long this proposal has been in the works, and so we wish you the best in succeeding.

Signups for the 80th edition closed not long ago. And yes, it's been going as long as NS has for the most part.\

There are also plenty of other sports that periodically open signups for tournaments if you're interested in sports RP.

TNP's viewpoint on this:

This proposal commends a prominent player in the NS Sports community. We believe that nations who contribute massively to the community should be commended and that the target nation deserves this commendation.

For these reasons the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs recommends a vote For the proposal.

For those of us who don't care about sports (NS sports, in particular), what should we take from this? Is there any other basis upon which to commend this nation?

Wordy here on my puppet.....
Not quoting the whole thing however the use of the word "his" makes this not legal I think?

RECALLING the following facts about the many creative scenarios that have involved THE in past WCs:
THE has fielded a diversity of squads in the past: from humans to jumping foodstuffs to refugees from the Land of Faerie to the Fog-Thing of Antiquity, and most latterly intergalactic zombie space pirates;
THE's coach, Juan Tzimisces, has stayed in his role for the last 54 WCs; he also led a brave defence of THE's Black Gate for 100 days during The Event, which ended before the 48th WC;
As a nation in [region=The Dreamed Realm], THE is accessible solely by portal (and not by what many nations would deem to be normal transport);
The long-running World Cup Show with Basil and Theo is renowned as a snarky highlights show covering games that THE has recently played; and
When THE played at the 45th WC and made the final (losing 4-1 to Candelaria and Marquez), despite never making the semifinals before, THE fielded a team of cavemen who eschewed normal footballs for spherical rocks. The team captain, Ug-Ug, kept a monosyllabic diary throughout said WC, retiring after the 48th WC;
Wordy, EX-TITO Field Commander.
Now just ornamental.

"His" is in reference to the manager of The Holy Empire's football team, which is a roleplayed character. It is not referring to THE/Arch himself, who is a real-life person.

A quick search will reveal that, since Rule 4 was introduced, the word "his" has been used five times in passed SC resolutions - three times in reference to tyrants, once in reference to a nation's WA Ambassador, and once referring to simply "the convict" (whoever he happens to be). All of these resolutions (SC#70, 77, 97, 104, 113) managed to pass without getting discarded by the mods over R4. (Note that all passed resolutions are legal, and that Rule 4 has scarcely changed, if it even has, over the past eight years.)

I fully commend the propoasal and have instructed my WA puppet to vote in favour.

ooc: AIF and I discovered after the event that we used the same RL tram stop in Thornbury (a suburb of Melbourne) for a year or more.
The world is not cyclical, not eternal or immutable, but endlessly transforms itself, and never goes back, and we can assist in that transformation.

Confirmed. As long as personal pronouns refer to an RP character or national leader and not the player behind the nation, it's legal under R4(b).
