No draft, no support. I am not familiar with the history of this proposal, but from what I have heard so far, this thing has been a train wreck from the beginning.
While she had no regrets about throwing the lever to douse her husband's mistress in molten gold, Blanche did feel a pang of conscience for the innocent bystanders whose proximity had caused them to suffer gilt by association.

Commend The Rejected Realms

A resolution to recognize outstanding contribution by a nation or region.

Category: Commendation

Nominee: the Rejected Realms

Proposed by: Cepcecic Diplomacy

CONGRATULATING The Rejected Realms on achieving a stable and safe democracy without being able to issue bans and ejections, and for accepting nations with open arms.

RECOGNISING The Rejected Realms on having the oldest army of any region, the RRA (Rejected Realms Army). This army is a defender army and strives for interregional peace and prosperity.

ACKNOWLEDGING that The Rejected Realms is a diplomatic ally with many regions who works towards international peace. Without The Rejected Realms's efforts, progress towards international peace would have slowed down significantly.

THANKING The Rejected Realms for their assistance and leadership of several missions to liberate regions in distress including but not limited to:
- Japan, a small region with high influence.
- The South Pacific, one of the largest feeder regions.
- Hogwarts, another small region with high influence.
- Lazarus, a fellow defender region with extremely high influence.

APPLAUDING The Rejected Realms's successful defence of 10000 Islands in 2003. Despite 10000 Islands not being a defender region at the time, it's successful defence would eventually lead to it becoming one of the largest and most influential Defender regions in the world.

MOVED by The Rejected Realms's outstanding cultural diversity, with no limits to its endless array of different nations. This cultural diversity allows nations unfamiliar or new to the The Rejected Realms to participate in a vast plethora of activities, discussions, and the inclusion that many regions lack.

ESTABLISHING The Rejected Realms as a unique region due to its periodic regional newspaper (The Rejected Times), which documents and records events across Nationstates for everyone to read.

DISTINGUISHING The Rejected Realms for being a founder member of the ADN, and later being an influential member of the FRA. Their contributions kept the FRA running for many years after, with many of the Arch Chancellors of the FRA coming from The Rejected Realms.

APPALLED that The Rejected Realms has been underappreciated for so long, and has failed thus far to be noticed by the esteemed members of the World Assembly for its outstanding performance and resolve.

KNOWING that with the passage of this resolution that The Rejected Realms can only continue to strive for international peace and success.

HEREBY Commends The Rejected Realms for outstanding performance, resolve, diversity, and courage

Oh come on, Cepcecic. This?! THIS Is the COMMENDATION for one of the most hallowed regions on nationstates? A grand total of four liberations; a vague reference to diplomacy; the claim that TRR is responsible for the creation of TITO; its "Cultural Diversity", despite the fact that all of five nations regularly post on its RMB, the only place a nation new to NS would actually see; claiming TRR is unique for having a newspaper (Has the author heard of Hell?); and completely ignoring any actual individuals that inhabit the region. Did you do any research at all?

There was exactly one change made that could count as drafting, which is on the end of page 1 to the beginning of page two of this thread.

Edit: Also changes were made independently by the author in-between drafts to address the legality issues that got it removed the first couple of time.

For his first two attempts he went straight to submission; both of these were illegal (they've been captured in the Illegal Proposals thread, pages 79 and 80).

V3 was not drafted here either, I think IA published it in this thread. It almost got to quorum before it was pulled for an illegality.

V4 was published here first, but there wasn't much time between that and submission - didn't get close to quorum.

V5 (the one at vote) was also published here, but again no real drafting.

Yes it has been a train wreck.

Well, there we go, something that at least barely meets the definition of a draft. You didn't exactly leave much opportunity for discussion.
All Drafts have been collapsed here by moderators.

You misunderstand what a draft is. A draft is the unsubmitted text for a prospective proposal. It is posted to the forum so that others may discuss it and offer feedback. That is why I am so adamant about a drafting process, and is a major factor in why I so rarely support SC resolutions.

Important Bills?

Postby Maesalior » Fri Apr 21, 2017 5:07 pm

I actually support The Rejected Realms in its success and would have voted for the bill except that I do not believe commendation bills are what should be filling the security councils archives. Excellent job Rejected Realms, but perhaps we should be finding a better place for commendations and worrying about actual security concerns in the Security Council.

The Security Council only commends, condemns and liberates. Liberations involve the removal of a regional password, while commendations and condemnations are used to celebrate (or show dismay at) a nation or region. These proposals can be submitted at any time, but (if you must submit) draft on a new thread in these forums first.

Is your definition of "very questionable" based on number of resolutions authored or status as a SC regular? If so, that seems quite elitist.

At any rate, I'm for. It's long past time we commended the Rejected Realms, and whilst the format seems clunky to some, I think it is quite fine. To be honest, if this doesn't get passed, when will a commendation get passed? It'll probably end on standstill because the people who dislike TRR will clammer and yell about "the will of the people being decided," making it harder to do anything. This proposal actually covers a lot:
  • involvement in the FRA, an organization which has done immense good in defense of the Founderless regions
  • the creative methods (including the newspaper) with which they have held together a community in which they are unable to eject wrongdoers. This is a significant deal, if you ask me. I don't know what most regions would do, particularly of that size, without being able to practice border control.
  • 4 separate occasions on which TRR has helped defend regions, including Lazarus, a significant accomplishment.
  • The defense of 10000 Islands, which eventually grew with the help of the TRR into becoming a large defender region, with TITO and whatnot
  • Being the world's largest champion of the Allied Defense Network, once the largest defender region in the world, which has helped save countless regions

Is this not enough? The author didn't mention everything possible that TRR has done because they've done too much to fit into one resolution. What's next: Are we going to make a third condemnation of TBH listing every raid they've committed to "fully capture the evils of the Black Hawks?"

Furthermore, I'll acknowledge that there are several sentence fragments. But are mere grammatical errors that don't interfere with meaning enough to halt a commendation of a great region with many, many achievements, perhaps the most worthy in the world of our endorsement?

PS: Virtually every WA proposal is an immense run-on sentence, so I say sentence fragments must be fine too :p

You know, there's a reason people tend to avoid the forums here. There are many people who are quite rude to authors, and they instead want to do private drafting. Is this that wrong? Is there a "you need a draft rule?"

"Questionable" isn't about the author's SC experience, but about the fact that the author has multied repeatedly in the past.
In=character, Kaboomlandia is a World Assembly member and abides by its resolutions. If this nation isn't in the WA, it's for practical reasons.
Author of GA #371 and SC #208, #214, #226, #227, #230, #232
Co-Author of SC #204

When did I multi repeatedly? I have one recent charge which I contest to this date.
