[Withdrawn] Condemn SkyDip

Postby Ramaeus » Mon Feb 17, 2014 1:33 pm

The Security Council,

Stating that SkyDip is inherently evil, promoting an agenda of secrecy, back-room politics, and overall devious behavior,

Aware of SkyDip's long and storied history of raiding, notably:

  • Membership in notable raiding regions like: Lone Wolves United, The Black Hawks, The Black Riders, and Europeia
  • Carrying out operations with said regions, as well as other regions, including: Kantrias, The Land of Kings and Emperors, and The New Inquisition,
  • And, involvement in the raids of notable regions, like: SPACE, Hell, Hippiedom, and others,

Declaiming SkyDip's frequent use of The Security Council as a platform for anti-liberation and anti-native views which are in opposition to the guiding principles of this assembly,

Appalled by SkyDip's use of The Security Council to reward those with similar military views, notably: Jakker and Mallorea and Riva,

Dismayed by SkyDip's prominence in the “independent” regional sphere as a military leader and commander, highlighted in the past by heading Europeia's armies as Grand-Admiral,

Distraught by the reverent lack of respect for native and regional sovereignty shown by SkyDip and their military forces,

Denouncing SkyDip's use of a puppet nation to repeal SC#109, “Liberate NAZI EUROPE”, and the ramifications thereof,

Affirming that SkyDip's role as a raider, and as a vocal and experienced author in The Security Council with a clear military bias, make them into a threat to the international community at large,

Hereby Condemns SkyDip.

What a load of absolute nonsense.

Aware of SkyDip's long and storied history of raiding, notably:

Membership in notable raiding regions like: Lone Wolves United, The Black Hawks, The Black Riders, and Europeia
Carrying out operations with said regions, as well as other regions, including: Kantrias, The Land of Kings and Emperors, and The New Inquisition,
And, involvement in the raids of notable regions, like: SPACE, Hell, Hippiedom, and others,

So what, guilt by association? Are we going to condemn every person that ever engaged in those ops? Who worked with or was part of some of those named groups (or in the case of me, founded one :P ). Is Condemn Cerian Quilor going to happen next? Raiding alone isn't condemn worthy - precedent proves that. You have to be pretty nasty to get condemned for raiding activity, and while Elias was involved in those operations, he was not the driving force behind them.

Stating that SkyDip is inherently evil, promoting an agenda of secrecy, back-room politics, and overall devious behavior,

Do more than state it. establish it. Prove it. And explain why secrecy and back-room politics are bad with reasoned arguements, rather than established propositions.

Declaiming SkyDip's frequent use of The Security Council as a platform for anti-liberation and anti-native views which are in opposition to the guiding principles of this assembly,

They're the guiding principles of this assembly? Did I miss the memo?

Appalled by SkyDip's use of The Security Council to reward those with similar military views, notably: Jakker and Mallorea and Riva,

He condemned them.

Distraught by the reverent lack of respect for native and regional sovereignty shown by SkyDip and their military forces,

See above. Not enough. Give us more at the very least.

Denouncing SkyDip's use of a puppet nation to repeal SC#109, “Liberate NAZI EUROPE”, and the ramifications thereof,

This was a good action that restored a measure of credibility to the security council. If you're going to waste time including this, elaborate on why it should be denounced. But it really shouldn't.

Affirming that SkyDip's role as a raider, and as a vocal and experienced author in The Security Council with a clear military bias, make them into a threat to the international community at large,

Why does this make him a threat to the international community at large? And you, as a defender, have a clear military bias as well. Is Condemn Rameus coming out soon?

Dismayed by SkyDip's prominence in the “independent” regional sphere as a military leader and commander, highlighted in the past by heading Europeia's armies as Grand-Admiral,

I love how you deny the existence of Independence as a real ideology by putting it into quotes. Such clear lack of bias. Also, Europeia has a Navy (see: Grand-Admiral) And again, give us some examples of his tenure. What did he do during his tenure that puts him on par with people like Jakker, Mall, etc (Nothing, because Elias/SkyDip didn't engage in regional destruction)

Overall, it is badly written, poorly argued, fails to establish (or really attempt to establish) its premises and laden with defender moralism. The last one would be mildly forgivable if you did better on the first four.
Never underestimate the power of cynicism, pessimism and negativity to prevent terrible things from happening. Only idealists try to build the future on a mountain of bodies.

The Thing to Remember About NationStates is that it is an almost entirely social game - fundamentally, you have no power beyond your own ability to convince people to go along with your ideas. In that sense, even the most dictatorial region is fundamentally democratic.

How does one become inherently evil simply by being associated with regions and organisations the author may not approve of? I could say that I feel the author is a heart on ones sleeve moralist because of the possibility that they are a defender, and it wouldn't be true.

I feel that this is a bad idea for a condemnation, and that compared to others, SkyDip hasn't actually proven himself to be in need of a condemnation.

I'd like to see Dip condemned, he's a pretty wonderful bad guy when you take into account his abrasiveness and what can come across to newer authors as hostility toward them and their work. Plus he's a raider, which helps, and he's authored a shedload of repeals so you could twist that into being anti the mission of the WA to spread international peace and good will, and improve the world.

But this isn't looking great, unfortunately. I'd support a condemnation, but not this one.

Are you serious? I saw the first line and thought it was a joke. But I think you're really trying here.
