[SUBMITTED] Liberate Warzone Africa

Postby Of crazed » Wed Jan 30, 2013 6:20 pm

Description: The region of Warzone Africa has been home to a regional community for over nineteen hours -- a community so old, it predates the establishment of Regional Founders. On 30 January 2013, the unity government of Warzone Africa wanted to take a stand and create a community with open borders.

Therefore, the World Assembly forbids said region from being password-protected.

NOTING that Warzone Africa is one of the oldest regions in the world, created before the time of Founders,

FURTHER NOTING that these regions are now a dwindling minority and thus carry a special historical significance -- a significance that makes them prime targets of invasion,

EVEN FUTHER NOTING that Warzone Africa wishes to stand as a region of open borders

HEREBY LIBERATES Warzone Africa.

Warzone Africa was created in 2004, nearly a year after the creation of founders. I'm not even certain if it was among the first group of warzones created.

Also, this game created region cannot be password protected, so I'm not certain what this resolution changes, other than grabbing attention.

Illegal for plagiarism. The two clauses above are the exact same copy of the first two clauses in SC#108.

Anime Daisuki is correct that this proposal plagiarises his recent resolution "Liberate South Pacific". This would've been fine posted as a joke proposal on the forum; I'm going to be lenient and simply remove the proposal and warn Of Crazed for submitting a joke proposal, rather than ejecting + banning them from the WA for plagiarism, as the plagiarised content is not significant and the intent was clearly a joke. However, should the player submit a plagiarised WA proposal in the future, they can expect to be removed from the WA.

So that arguement (protection of naturally founderless regions) can never be made again in an SC Lib proposal?

Never underestimate the power of cynicism, pessimism and negativity to prevent terrible things from happening. Only idealists try to build the future on a mountain of bodies.

The Thing to Remember About NationStates is that it is an almost entirely social game - fundamentally, you have no power beyond your own ability to convince people to go along with your ideas. In that sense, even the most dictatorial region is fundamentally democratic.

Of course it can, provided you don't copy the same paragraphs and use them as is.

There's no reason why good language can't be reused.

There's a difference between reusing 'good language' and blatant copying it. And, this proposal did the latter.

I thought you could reuse reasons like noting the significance of a region without a founder. I was obviously wrong. I was uneducated about the WASC rules, apologize to the author of liberate South Pacific and again thank Sedge for taking into account my intent when moderating me.
