[SUBMITTED] Repeal "Condemn Hippostania"

Postby Jamie Anumia » Sun Jan 20, 2013 5:48 am

The Security Council,

Believing that asking World Assembly (WA) members to comply with all WA resolutions according to the interpretations of other nations is an unrealistic expectation;

Asserting that the Hippostanian government did not violate all the WA resolutions that it was condemned for transgressing;

Dismayed by the Hippostanian government's apparent desire for a Security Council condemnation and concerned that this issue has created further tension between Hippostania and other nations of the world;

Questioning the integrity of condemning a nation which provided information to contribute to the resolution,

Noting that despite some of their World Assembly resolution violations, Hippostania retains relations with many other nations around the world,

Affirming that reprehensible actions should be condemned, but that the Hippostanian government's atrocities are not on the same level of those undertaken by recently condemned nations such as Milograd and Ralkovia, which committed genocide against their citizens;

Hereby Repeals Condemn Hippostania.

Co-Authored by Cormac Stark

Rough draft. I welcome any critique or suggestions.

Believing that asking world assembly members to obey all WA assembly resolutions is an unrealistic idea,
- If you don't like WA resolutions, then leave the WA

Realizing that the Hippostanian government had not violated all the world assembly resolutions that they were condemned by,
- We did some pretty deep research to ensure that the condemnation was accurate.

Dismayed the Hippostanian's government's apparent want for a condemnation and the fact that it has created further tension between Hippostania and other nations of the world,
- That was out of character, his feeding of information, so irrelevant.

Questioning the integrity of condemning a nation which provided information to contribute to the resolution,
- See above.

Noting that despite some of their World Assembly resolution violations, Hippostania retains relations with many other nations around the world,
- And then proceeded to arrest the ambassadors of any nation which voted for the condemnation. His foreign affairs are hardly sound.

Affirming that condemnable actions should be condemned, but that the Hippostanian government's atrocities are not on the same levels of nations such as recently condemned nations - Milograd and Ralkovia - which participated in genocide of its citizens,
- Hippostania's actions were reprehensible. This is being addressed at Peace Conferences.

I must restate that a Repeal will be submitted AFTER the Peace Conferences when the appropriate grounds for peace have been made. Guys, just sit back and give it time.

The fact of the matter is, Hippo's ooc demeanour and ic writing, mean he isn't worthy of being recognised by the World Assembly. RP C&C's should be for nations that have actually contributed to the community.

Unfortunately for Hippo and those he wrote this Condemnation with, he isn't worthy.

I believe there'll be more of an attempt to counter-campaign against this proposal.

However, perhaps a comprehensive redo of a condemnation against Hippostania could be considered?

I just can't get excited about these RP C&Cs. I'd much rather argue with Mahaj over the inherent morality (or lack thereof) of putting up a password. :p

I generally do not support instant repeals, but in view of the close margin of passing (51% For -49% Against), and in consideration of 10KI's poll result at the time, I am for this repeal.

Only on an out of character basis, I think, so it's irrelevant.

Absolutely not, especially considering the nation's reaction to the condemnation, which was to raid the embassies and arrest the diplomats of every nation that voted for it.

Quite frankly, the only reason we could ever support this was if it was in order to pass another one including the embassy raiding as grounds for condemnation.

Normally, our nation doesn't take a very active role on SC matters, but the ATK stands entirely against this proposed repeal.
Hippostania's actions upon the passage of the condemnation revealed to us how right we were to have voted for it.

Kurt Demodand, the Radiatian Ambassador to the World Assembly via the Radiatia WA Delegate nodded following the comments made by the delegate from the Tiger Kingdom.

In a rare moment of sobriety (he couldn't believe the nerve of his doctor for telling him to lay off alcohol for "health reasons"), he voiced his agreement.

"I said this last time someone tried to repeal the condemnation, and I'll continue to say it again and again. Whilst I regretfully voted against the initial condemnation for at the time I like many others had been duped into believing Hippostania not to be the evil nation that it is, I now stand by the condemnation.

"Hippostania's actions following the condemnation prove that this is a rogue and despicable nation with which we are dealing, and to revoke our condemnation of this nation would be to condone Hippostania's actions and behaviour, and to encourage other regimes to take hostages or react in similarly violent and stupid ways should they face condemnation by the World Assembly.

"Thus, I am opposed."

You're confusing OOC with IC here. Do NOT accuse a 'nation' of hacking another player's nation, particularly when there is no evidence to support this. "Hippostanian hackers attempted to hack my nation's defense mainframe" is roleplay, "Hippostania attempted to hack my account" is something you report to moderators.
