proposal: recognition of "The Commonwealth of Zamalia"

Postby Free3donia » Tue Jan 15, 2013 7:25 pm

I would like advice, direction and consul on a proposal that would recognize "The Commonwealth of Zamalia" as an exemplary "Nation".
This nation has managed to score very high on all 'trend' measures.

It has been my observation that NS ranks 'rights' and 'freedom' more than 'economy'.

My personal experience and bias may make this a personal desire. However, those same experiences, especially with poverty make it difficult for me to 'kowtow' to a forum that promotes 'rights' and 'freedom' without any ability to enable a corresponding quality of life.

Granted, this is a personal bias. I am requesting feedback from the NS community.

Thanks.

For the record, however, I would not support nor vote for a commendation of Zamalia just because of trend lines, and I doubt other delegates and ambassadors would go for it either.

many thank to all. for those who believe that the proposal will not get much traction:
granted!
Still, if a dialog starts, this would satisfy me. (yeah, I was born in the '50s so I'm all about the dialog ;-)

Commend Zamalia

Postby Free3donia » Wed Jan 16, 2013 6:54 pm

Proposed to the Security Council:
(and a request for patience from a nation with little WA experience. Free3donia is desirous of learning to become a better WA member and enters this proposal as a first step in learning something of NS diplomacy, it is with sincere respect that the following is proposed.)

Noting the long standing service of it's government to it's people; the nation of Zamalia:

Given that governance is about service to the populous, that it is assumed that governance must, to be a sustainable government, provide for opportunities where all peoples can improve their prospects, that the Nation of Zamalia has a long standing record of providing that environment.

Given that the measure of a government is based on the three basic principles;
"Civil Rights",
"Economy" and
"Political Freedoms",
it is right and fair that the nation of "Zamalia" should be commended for demonstrating a near 'optimal' environment where all basic measures have thrived.

Riiiiight-o. First off, I would suggest reading up on some passed Commendations to get a feel for the type and amount of material you will need to craft a successful resolution. Secondly, it is not recommended to try and Commend a nation based on those three rankings. Many nations have high scores in all of those, and it isn't hard to get those high scores.

If you do those two things, you'll see you need a lot more material that is specific to the nation and that is uniquely applicably. A Commendation such as the one you have proposed could easily be slapped on many nations, which means it is too broad. Has your target nation done anything special or outstanding to help the world or the game? Have they done great service to a particular region or group of nations? Try collecting more information and coming back with that.

Many and sincere thanks for the feedback.

I did look at a few 'commends' and did notice that I may be on 'new' ground.

I will continue to study; I am curious that the idea a 'commend' has not yet been based on the criteria stated would preclude my proposal (in better form) from moving forward.

Instead of trying to 'glean' the appropriate criteria; I will ask: are there known criteria for a 'commend'?

Thanks for your patience and feedback.
