[Approvals needed] Commend Republica

Postby Vingo » Tue Dec 11, 2012 5:38 pm

Description: Description:
The World Assembly,

RECOGNIZING Republica originally and continues to represent a powerful source for equal opportunities, liberty, democracy and LGBT rights

OBSERVING that the commitment to these principles, and to providing authentic LGBT representation is an excellent embodiment of what the General Assembly is all about,

ADMIRING the devotion of Republica members to
a.) - - - relaunch a former LGBT region so successfully,
b.) - - - speak out on LGBT issues,
c.) - - - provide a strong sense of community through equality, liberty and democracy,

PRAISING the many efforts ongoing and still to come in line with this

APPRECIATING how challenging it can be to promote these principles, values and beliefs

ACKNOWLEDGING in particular the region founder the kawaii utopia of North Briton for devotion and tireless efforts

HEREBY COMMENDS Republica for its many great contributions to the world of NationStates and for the honourable values it embodies

All of these clauses should end with a comma, otherwise it's one gigantic run-on sentence.

Vingo wrote:OBSERVING that the commitment to these principles, and to providing authentic LGBT representation is an excellent embodiment of what the General Assembly is all about,

Once again, we aren't the General Assembly. Hopefully you just got this mixed and know the difference. -__-

Vingo wrote:ADMIRING the devotion of Republica members to

2/3 parts here don't even make sense grammatically.
  • "Admiring the devotion of Republica members to relaunch..."
  • "Admiring the devotion of Republica members to provide..."
Those should be "relaunching" and "providing" instead.

Vingo wrote:PRAISING the many efforts ongoing and still to come in line with this

What does this line even mean? "...still to come in line?"

Vingo wrote:APPRECIATING how challenging it can be to promote these principles, values and beliefs

Says who? Need some backing evidence there.

Vingo wrote:ACKNOWLEDGING in particular the region founder the kawaii utopia of North Briton for devotion and tireless efforts

Tireless efforts doing....what, exactly?

Vingo wrote:HEREBY COMMENDS Republica for its many great contributions to the world of NationStates and for the honourable values it embodies

"Many great contributions?" Like what? No offense, but I've never heard of this region before.
Overall, this proposal has a lot of errors in format and needs much material to make a viable Commendation. I would suggest drafting here for a few days before submitting so you can get some assistance.

OOC: I feared this was the case when you tg'ed me to approve the resolution and I couldn't find a forum topic on it. I would have to agree with what Skyrim Diplomacy has said (both in this thread and the one you linked me to) that a proposal needs to be debated before being submitted so as to allow the excellent WA ambassadors and delegates to be able to suggest edits, amendments, addendums and so forth.

Wait wait wait wait. You're telling me you *actually* read a proposal before approving? More than that, you read the topics in the forum?

...bravo sir.

Indeed. The trend is usually to simply approve anything that a Delegate gets a TG about without any knowledge on the proposal at hand.

I confess that was something I used to do the first time I became a Delegate and didn't really care that much about the WA. It proved a disaster as the moment I approved something that I had been asked to approve someone else would send me a tg not to approve. So this time I read.

I will admit my tendency is quite the opposite, I have only once approved a proposal in my time as regional delegate. Of course, this is mostly because I tend to be asked to approve silly proposals, and those I do like (Or am asked to approve by a citizen) then get voted down when I put them up for a vote.

It makes up for all the hate mail I've got in the last 2 days since settin my region up as LGBT

If by "nice" you mean error-ridden, both grammatically, punctuation-wise, and lacking in content, then yeah, I guess it's nice. The author should really consider retracting his/her proposal from the floor so as to flesh out a better copy here.

I am afraid this proposal is a bit too lacking for me to support it. I do support giving the LGBT community a place to gather, but I feel this is hardly the grounds for a commandment. Perhaps if in the future they have done something to benefit the international community, but at this point they haven't even existed for more then a few days.

OOC: And I say this as a member of the LGBT community who is considering joining...you seem great, but hardly worthy for being commended at this time.

"The Quendi Embassy and acting Pardesi Ambassador quite concur with Skyrim Diplomacy and is confounded that North Briton's embassy considers the proposal anywhere near adequate." Was Lady Malréd's harsh judgement.

The Quendi WA ambassador nodded in agreement. "Support for LGBT rights is a core tenet of this most august assembly and the Quendi WA Embassy would consider it most proper to affirm this fact through a commendation of a nation or region known for its support for LGBT rights." The ambassador stated. ”But where I to name a region deserving such a commendation Gay would seem a more suitable candidate."

I read them but normally when it is a "Commend or Condemn" I just go against.
The proposals are normally pretty biased.
However, if I get TG'd with an explanation AND proof of them needing to be Condemned/Commended, I will review my decision.

Isn't the proof in the proposal description (sometimes)?

I will neither be approving this proposal, nor voting for it should it come to vote. Osiris has the [region-tag=no sc campaigning]no Security Council Campaigning[/region-tag] tag and either the author or supporter of the resolution who telegrammed me about it has ruined its chances with me.

I urge all World Assembly authors to check the tags on the regions they are about to telegram the delegate of.

Also, you can report said nation to Moderation for that if you wish, George. That will stop them from that doing quickly.^_^

That nation was one of 6 I've had to report in the last two weeks.

This does not make me happy.

OOC: While I can certainly understand that it is annoying to be tg'ed when your region has a no tg policy perhaps reporting it to a mod should be reserved for repeat offenders. Sending a tg back telling the nation in question not to send tg's and be aware of regional policies is a more appropriate reponse.

Quendi and Skyrim are now my 2 favorite Delegates. :D

While I do believe that being major Civil Rights Advocates for the LGBT Community is well deserving of a Commendation, I have to be against this Resolution simply for the large amount of grammatical and Spelling errors found here.

If you resubmit this with those errors corrected, I will gladly support it.

Thank you. I must admit I am a bit embarassed to become someone's favorite Delegate simply because I no longer put my delegatorial approval stamp to every resolution I am presented with, but thanks anyway.
