Spam Telegrams

Postby Pathozia » Fri Nov 30, 2012 10:50 am

Hello fellow nationstaters,

Lately I've been receiving a lot of spam telegrams encouraging me to disapprove WA proposals. As you can see, these are automated messages and are really annoying. I don't mind if its a handwritten message but spam has got to go! Let me know what you think.

Greetings Pathozia!
Sorry to bother you but I noticed you just approved “Condemn The United Defenders League”.
There are some serious flaws with “Condemn The United Defenders League”. It was written by someone who was disgruntled for being removed from The United Defenders League and hardly reflects reality.
Many members of The United Defenders League rejoin after leaving, because it has a friendly working environment. Furthermore, the cases that the resolution cited regarding The North Pacific and The South Pacific are propaganda – The United Defenders League currently has embassies with The North Pacific and The South Pacific, this wouldn’t be so if this resolution was true regarding its claims of hostility.
Furthermore, “Unibot” (me! :P) is a respected (I think? :P) member of the NS Community, who has been commended by The World Assembly.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
Help me get the truth heard by removing your support of “Condemn The United Defenders League”.
Yours,
Unibot.

This belongs in Moderation as a spam report. However, since this is a gameside violation, you need to report it via a Get Help Request, which you can do here.

As this is not a violation of the rules (and Pathozia correctly doesn't address it as such), I think this should be put in technical. As with Pathozia, I think this is a real issue that has no place in this game. If you feel the need to telegram a bajillion delegates, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't have to do it manually.

Anyway, yes, certainly this is not the right forum.

Might be worth checking but since the rules state:

* Requests for proposal approval may be telegrammed to WA delegates, except where the region's tags designates "No GA Campaigning" or "No SC Campaigning" (as appropriate to the telegram request). More than one request per proposal may be considered spam and should be avoided.

Surely more than one request to de-approve a proposal would be treated the same way?

Yes, I would think so.

It's not a Technical problem, it's a coordination problem. Two players ran a campaign using the same telegram and sent it to the same delegate. While we could address it via a GHR and send a spam warning to both nations, I deliberately left the topic here to make a point about coordinating campaigns.

This should not have happened. Unibot III and Solm should have been better organized. This is exactly the sort of thing that pisses people off about spam-o-gram campaigns, and directly results in more moderator action to limit telegrams. We'd really like to let players talk to one another without restriction, but certain overzealous players cannot seem to stop abusing the system.

Yeah, if it wasn't the same TG, it'd be fine. I don't know how something like this could happen.

Me either. It is because I was never in the UDL, I never joined their org. I was a member of the FRA. And Jedi-Gangsters is my WA nation.

I agree with this. I am th WA delegate for my region through the sole fact that their is one other WA nation in it. I do not need a bajillion zillion spam notes
I'm really tired

I think this is:

1. In the wrong section.
2. Should be reported to technical as a way to spam SC.
3. JUST SAD. REALLY SAD. Even more by the fact that reports what it's clearly presumable at this point about false accusations.

Those were indeed though, expression of my personal opinion. Not directions, as I'm not a mod.
