Commend Sweet Furry Kittens

Postby Inflatable Gandalfs » Sun Oct 04, 2009 2:45 pm

Haven been submitted twice already, and discussed at length on the Texas forum, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to throw it up here as well:

The World Assembly,

Acknowledging Texas as a major region of NationStates,

Recognizing Sweet Furry Kittens' role in helping make Texas the shining example of regional excellence it is today,

Expressing gratitude to the Kittens for keeping their fellow Texans entertained with fun polls, games, chatter, gossip and advice,

Recalling that as Goddess of Texas, Sweet Furry Kittens has been held up on a pedestal for all Texans to worship and admire,

Regretting that this is not enough,

Insisting that a nation of Sweet Furry Kittens' caliber deserves acclaim not only from her fellow regionmates, but also the world at large,

Availing itself of its new 'Commend' option for that purpose,

Hereby COMMENDS the nation of Sweet Furry Kittens.

Observers will be delighted to note that this has nothing whatsoever to do with TITO or Nazis. Cut your teeth on something original for a change.

I as a delegate would be inclined to oppose this on the bases that it does not present enough reasons for a commendation.

Why don't you spend a little more time defending your own shitty commendation and a little less time spamming everyone else's threads?

Knowing a bit about SFK, I would support this resolution. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be confident in its ability to pass though. Even though I'm a defender, I would like to see more SC resolutions dealing with non-defender related things.

Yours,

Describing a recipient's deeds in general terms in the proposal and elaborating in greater detail in the accompanying thread is a deliberate style of proposal writing, not an oversight. Some people's actions are not easily summarized in detail. That said, I think this explains quite nicely what it is that SFK does. If you instead believe that those actions do not merit a commendation, it might be better to say so right out.

Ambassador, I am not about to get into an argument like that. I am better than that. I am a delegate and as such am entitled to my own opinions. You may not agree with me on everything or anything I say for that matter but I have a right to say this and I will exercise that right, And just because you don't agree with the Commendation of Grub does not mean it is "Shitty".

As long as you stop referencing other issues and solely focus on this one, yes.

How nice to see you've all resolved your minor disagreements!

... You have all resolved them, haven't you? *plays meaningfully with the Hammer of Off-Topic-ness*

Inflatable Gandalfs, the "spam" accusation is outdated. Since Sedgistan explained here why his posts were spam, Danielturner has been remembering to post explanations. Also, keep the comments on specific proposals to the proposal's thread.

New Dracora, to resume the topic, please explain why you support the proposal. "I support" and "I oppose" are seen as a bit spammy when posted without explanations -- not actionable, unless carried to excess, just unhelpful.

Having known SFK for some years now from having a nation in the same region, Texas, I would most heartily approve of this. Not many folk up for commendations do I know well enough to support the commendation, or if I do know them I may also not want to commend them, SFK is very commend worthy. Nothing realy quantifiable, just a general "adds to the quality of regional life" thing.
Everything you know about me is wrong. Or a rumor. Something like that.

Riddle me this, ambassador: What have/has Sweet Furry Kittens done that goes above and beyond what other leaders of regions have done? The arguments in your proposal as it stands, might merit a thumbs up (or cultural equivalent) at them, but I'm not entirely convinced of an international commendation.

And if Texas is such a "shining example of regional excellence", why isn't all of Texas (and by proxy, Sweet Furry Kittens for their role in making it so) being commended?

I am all in favor of commending sweet, furry kittens. They're cute and adorable. We have no opinion on Sweet Furry Kittens, though.

Well thanks for that, "Ambassador" (in a non-RP forum); I wasn't aware that candidates had to meet some arbitrary standard in order to merit Commendation.

I won't support it, as I see no reason there to commend that user.

Well obviously they need to have done something special, because I don't see everyone being commended. If there was no standard for which one needed commendation, where is mine or yours?

And I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to RP in this forum.
