As a general rule, but not in all cases, primitive human societies have had the females as the one who "ruled the roost", and later on as a society evolved, the males began to aquire and exercise more of a dominant role in the "public" aspects of their respect social order.

In today's world, the general society of the Commonwealth of Goltzborg is patriarchal; however, in times past, way back in the early days of the nation, Goltzborg was more of a matriarchal society.

How has your nation evolved over the years....is it matriarchal or patriarchal; and is that the way it has always been, or did social / public influence and recognition change over the years ?

While women today have rather high rights even compared to males so are the Imerian society still patriarchal and it is seen as more proper for women to stay at home attending family and house while the men provide for them.

Tsvarchi has historically been a matriarchal society, and although we've achieved social equality in the regards of sex and gender, there are still remnants of years past in Tsvarchivan society today; women are respected and are treated with the utmost care, and cultural traits like never walking in front of a woman (always with, or behind), and holding their hand (even a complete strangers) while they cross the street, remain today.

It's complicated. 'Technically' we are equal. Matriarchal would be a word; but we're blatantly sexist; just happen to hide it well. A good portion of our society and culture leans towards undertones of women being superior to men in just about every way, but then it balances out with the male portion of society not being treated like crap [We're not amazons] and the general way Russo-Spaniards are [knightly and all that] women are 'superior' while we are 'equal' and they are treated with the utmost respect and care.
